13.9lber!!!!!
drums are a great battle, and take long bullish runs. thats a nice fish!!!! only drums ive ever caught are redfish, and i love the fight in them.

Would you rather
as i have caught a 10 lb'er before........ id have to say the 13 and skinny is my choice..... ...but, if my PB was over 13...... then id have to say the healthier 10 lb'er any day......

How often......
only once, in about 16 yrs.......

Free custom colored baits
it happened to me in my younger days while leaving soft plastics together...... i realized immediately not to do this, as color bleeding would ensue. im sure they'll still work fine though...... but personally, i'll still try to keep mine apart

A good pair of cheap sunglasses
i agree, but i once wore contacts and was very used to them....... but after many years without them, they irritate my eyes till no end, i cant even stand the thought of putting them in!!!! if you can bear the contacts........ go for it.... for all others like me, you'll have to side with other options :-/

how do you stop the bait monkey...
you cant stop the monkey...... he'll always get you...... no matter what!

A good pair of cheap sunglasses
ahhhh.... sounds good. but my eyesight is poor, so i NEED my Rx in my glasses...... so my costa's are the only way to go for me........ (haven't sat on 'em yet, and sure hope i don't.... bc with the Rx, they were quite the setback monetarily)

new rod/reel input
if sheer simpleness is what you want, go for a quality spinning reel, especially if your a novice...... you definetly need an upgrade though if you want to pursue any further. you can find many shimano spinning combos for 100 and under. and T.R., we all dont make the switch......... although i agree... most do. ive had my hand at quite a few BC's, but the darn things tick me off till no end...... even after i was quite proficient with them..... ive been fishing spinning gear for around 16yrs now and see no need to change...... im sure fish chris and sirsnook shall agree, spinners get the job done.

Popov nights...
my demise was always cuervo....... but its funny you mention it, because as im typing ..... ive got an SR211 in hand....... still love the stuff........ (for hobo's or not).... it gets the job done!
-
swimbait opinion
should be just fine. i have many different paddle tail style soft swimbaits, and they produce quite well....... personally i use the keel weighted swimbait hooks on them, and they keep a good action.

Rapala
the jointed rapala (black and silver) floating....( i think they only make'em in floater?)... has been one of my all time best producing lure's...probably had well over 100 fish on the same one over the years.....but never anything substantial... highly recommend this one!
-
Sun Screen & hats
i admittedly go out many times wearing no shirt, and subsequently get alot of sun........(the FL heat gets plain NASTY at times) but, i know i cant do this all the time....... in my truck i always have coppertone sport spray 50 SPF, and coppertone "faces" 50 SPF...... a large hat, and my costa's (i always wear those though)..... never hesitate once to throw down on the sun protection..... its a must... who cares what others think. and DinkWhisperer...... that was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

If you've only got an hour to fish a new pond what would you do?
soft plastics all the way.....(i usually stick with charlie's worms, but not available to all as i understand) always been the most trustworthy for me in scoping out new situations.
-
Mattlure's hardgills...... WOW!!!!!!!!!!
good to know guys..... thats why this place is great.... the incredible info.... and LCpointer..... the new avatar, is mildly disturbing...... yet totally awesome at the same time ;D ****edit****** LC......... you changed the avatar once again...... so i must retract my disturbing, and awesome comment for the Ron Jeremy pic..... but the new one is you, so it works.

My good deal
.....ya i'll say you did!!!

Lures you DON'T use?
the only one's i consistantly dont use would be rattle traps...... never use'em, i kinda just dont like em... even though i own about a dozen of the darn things...... heck i even toss beetle spins alot, and believe it or not... have caught some noteworthy bass on them!
-
Mattlure's hardgills...... WOW!!!!!!!!!!
just giving credit where credit is due, and your lures speak for themselves............ there may be a naysayer or two, but the vast majority knows whats up!!!
-
Shopping Spree
some of their clearance items can be a bargain....... but wal-marts vary in selection from location to location in my opinion..... if you can get the deals on what you want, go for it!!!!!!!! i know that i have many times before, just many times they dont have what im in the market for.
-
Movies that disturb you
my heart goes out to you.....the end. words cannot ever justify.
-
My good deal
if all of that was one bill......... then too-shay good sir, you have found yourself a deal!
-
Mattlure's hardgills...... WOW!!!!!!!!!!
i am broke as well fan@tic......... but, alas... these 2 lures (in conjunction with many others) were part of an awesome anniversary gift from my gf.... i feel very fortunate, as i could never aford to buy these for myself......... .......but then again.... without the gf...... i would have plenty of $$$

Bass Fishing as exercise?
i go to the gym 3-4 days a week........ and i would have never thought of fishing as exercise until this post.... but now that you mention it, it most likely is..... instead of sitting on the couch and eating chippos, while doing absolutely nothing, im moving...... not eating..... and having an adrenaline rush (@ good times).... i think your correct my pal.

Braided line misunderstandings...
agreed muddy..... the "give" of mono helps greatly in those situations, but with a little time..... braid is effective as well..... its just really hard to take that extra second or three before setting the hook! (but practice makes it possible)... and by no means is braid the answer to all situations....... i just use it in all instances, likely foolishly.... but its fine for me!
