Want a way to break in a new rod? Catch a Peacock.
So after getting done with a huge project for work, I hit the water for the first time in a few weeks. Couldn't ask for more fun. Bunch of fish caught in a couple of hours. Great way to have fun with a few new rods and reels. Then this beast came up and decided to play. Nice way to gain some confidence testing out some new line and rods. What great fun. Big male all lit up in his spawning colors.

Little works of art...swimbait style.
Man. Those look phenomenal. May be ordering myself one or two at some point.

Question on Flurocarbon leader
You know, I don't think you could have answered that any better. Great answer. Personally, I use an Albright or an Alberto for mainline to leader connections.

Who'd You Get
For some reason, two Walleye anglers were scheduled at the Ft. Lauderdale store. Call me crazy....WE AINT GOT NO WALLEYES DOWN HERE!!!!

How do you store your rods and reels?
http://www.piranharodrack.com Got a few of those down here a while back when they were dirt cheap at a local show. Never had a complaint with mine. Reels stay attached to the rods unless they're getting cleaned.

FLOUROCARBON KNOT????
x2 Thats about the only knot I tie now for a line to lure connection. As much as I like the Palomar, I've found that this knot is better "for me" with fluorocarbon and co-poly lines. The old standard Uni is a very close second.

Ok, which one of you...
Ouch. Thats a major bummer. I wasn't the biggest fan of the TT forums, but there was still a bunch of good info there. Glenn, make sure you back up your backups that are backing up the backed up backups....

Dobyns savvy, kistler, or bps rods..?
I was a bit skeptical about Dobyns rods at first, not anymore. Fantastic rods. The Savvy is an absolute bargain at the price.

super glue
None at all. Really, it's not going to help much IMO. Super glue was used on line to leader connections mainly to smooth the knot out so it would slip through the guides easier. I seriously doubt it's going to help a properly tied knot become any stronger. The only fix for a crap knot is to retie it right.

How many casts will you make to one spot?
I'll make a lot of casts if I'm confident that the area holds fish. Hitting a spot once or twice is just not an efficient way to cover an area with a lure.

bluegil imitating lures
Swim jigs, spinnerbaits, squarebills, other cranks, certain soft plastics. Just try to closely match the color and you're in business.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid questions
A couple of other added benefits are that, to me at least, hybrid is much more castable than 100% fluoro. It's also a more versatile line to me.

found somethin on O
Great fish right there. Nice catch, Bruce.

Bass Eat Roosters in Cold Weather Too!
Looks like some great fun, Steve. With fish like that, I might even manage to get out of bed in cold weather.

missed hook sets on hollow body frog
Don't over think it. Either count to three or wait until you feel the weight of the fish on the end of the line. Then slam em.

Attended the first day of the BPS Classic
Basically the same thing I said to myself about 20 minutes ago. Is there anything worth buying this year anyway? The flyer seemed pretty slim.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid questions
1. Yes 2. No, but it's really close. 3. Yes. Works just as well as fluoro. It's not quite as sensitive as a 100% fluoro. Again, it's close. Buy it, and see if you like it. It's dirt cheap stuff. I've really become a fan of this line in the last couple of months.

Do you switch hands when you cast a baitcaster?
I switch. Most of the guys I've fished with switch also. I've tried to use a lefty casting reel before and just couldn't get used to it. Go figure though, I'm more than happy cranking a spinning reel from the left side. Probably goes back to my saltwater days where all of my conventional reels were cranked on the right and spinning reels were cranked on the left.

Rusty boxes: Clean or replace?
Same thing I do. My local CVS is more than happy to give me a bunch of them. Work great.

Mission accomplished
Very cool! Congrats to her! Looks like a great program.

Wacky Rig set-up
Anything 1/4 ounce and up I'll use a casting rod unless I'm trying to skip the lure up underneath something. I just can't skip that well with a casting reel. 90% of my casting rods are Fast or Extra Fast.

Flipping/Punching setup
Leverage. longer rod don't offer more leverage... the fulcrum point is all wrong.... It actually gives the fish more leverage Correct. Shorter rods give you more leverage. What you do get with the longer rod is the ability to move more line each time you lift the rod tip.

Why does everyone buy the lures that win The Classic
So true. Especially the highlighted part.

BPS pro qualifier
Pro Qualifiers are great reels. Good bargain on a quality product. At the sale price, they're a steal. Never had a complaint with the ones that I've had. They aren't a Curado, but they're still a darn good reel.
