Spring Fishing What Time
I went out yesterday here in VT and "tried". It was a dead zone out there! Weird thing, I had a 2 min dream last night about me being out yesterday. As I was packing up to leav I saw a huge fish SMASH something on the top of the water but I couldnt get to it and I had to leave. I must be more disappointed than I thought lol. You guys in NY have better temps in the water and outside. Posting on BassResource.com from the water... I love it.

Not Liking Abu Garcia
Save for a good rod, and save for a good reel. Also pay attention to the rod's "line rating and lure weight". When I was a kid, I fished by myself. My dad wasnt really a fisherman. I used to buy bait casters from Walmart. Shakespeare for the most part. They didnt cast for crap and didnt last more than a year. I started buying quality equipment as I grew older and what do you know. I still have ALL my bait casters that were of higher quality.

Bucket Fishermen
I understand where you are coming from, Bro, but at least report it. You have better odds at accomplishing something when you at least do something rather than nothing. I'de report the incident and if you see it again, report it, again, report it. Bug the crap out of them and keep on fishing.

Bucket Fishermen
Only time I have ever eaten something I caught was out of salt water. And once I went cast netting for Tilapia. In Orlando, you see this crap all over the place. I used to have a pond in my apartment complex that I used to fish almost every night. I was the only person there for the sport.

Extremely Cold Water Technique?
So I'm not from the north. I grew up in Florida. The ice had been out for 2 days and the lake has filled up. Water has got to be in the 30's. I would love to get out today. We have 50 degree temps and sunshine. How should I approach this? Deep water? Shallow? Finesse jigs? Slow crank baits? I'm itching to fish BAD and I'de like to get at least a few fish today. EDIT: I just went to check out the lake. There is still ice around. It's going to be a solid month before its ready to fish. By that time I will be back in Florida. I give up.

Girlfriend And Fishing
Agree. But I threw my girl right smack dab in the middle of bass fishing. Got her an Abu bait caster reel from Walmart, decent rod, good line, and taught her the ropes right out of the gate. She was soon becoming a beast. Dont know what she's up to these days with it but she took the rod and reel I bought her when we split. Obviously I got her into it.

New Pond
Spots like this, all I gotta say is deeper water, early morning, and trick worms. That is if you know for sure there are BIG bass there. I have experienced this first hand. This was a large pond. No bites from shore. Ever. Then I got out on a small boat early in the morning and found a sand bar with no vegetation with some trick worms and I was doing 4# plus fish like crazy. it was heaven. Then as quickly as it appeared, the bite was gone at 10:30am. My experience.

Fish Tales Funny And True!
Yu know... I never thought about it. I always saw them on tree trunks. They might!

Fish Tales Funny And True!
Yeah I saw the title and thought it was something else until I started to read more LOL. my mistake. And no the spider wasn't 1lb but that is our joke. They do have some weight to em tho. Scary big. These things are EVERYWHERE in the canal. Skip to 2:40 to see the real size of these things. You can see their Molts on the trees too and they are massive.

Fish Tales Funny And True!
Hey... what can ya do. It all boils down to ego. Most people need to feed this ego. If anything, I am short on my weights. When I caught my PB I called out 9.5. When the scale read 11.3, I flipped. I joined the DD club. But yeah, I see it ALL the time and I'm just like "whatev dude." Golf is VERY similar. I drive the ball at sea level around 280. I get paired up with guys howling about "Dude that was 310". No man, it wasn't. I pulled out my GPS on a drive that I made which I outdrove my playing partner by at least 30 yards and he asked me what yardage I had and I told him "I got 279". He responds with a surprised and angry "There's no way!". And on that note... drive for show but put for doe. Again, it's ego. People smash driver all day long on the range and I'm around the putting green 60% of the time working on my short game. It hurts when you go through life without the facts and feed your ego BS. You get conditioned to living this way and when the truth hits, it hurts.

How Long Do Bass Get?
My fish was measured on it's side. I actually never thought to measure a fish while being lipped. That just seem like a hassle. Plus holding an 11lb fish makes your arm tired after all the eyeballing, hogging, photos, "OMG's", "Dude's!" and "Look at this thing's". I am also guilty of NOT holding a fish away from me. After I started fishing with a few guys, every photo they kept saying "Hold it out farther so it looks bigger". I was like.. why would I want to do that? lol

"technique Specific" Subforum
I do agree. The moderation would most likely double. So far it looks as if people want it but in reality it wont happen. Maybe I am also used to larger forums with many specific sub forums and with bass fishing, there are SO many things to discuss!
-
"technique Specific" Subforum
I modified things a bit. I am aware of the amazing amount of information and write ups here at BassResource.com but there is no discussion for it. That was my only point. I wanted to see how many folks would like to have the possibility of actively discussing technique specific fishing.

I Watch Bill Dance.
I have him DVR'd because hey, it's fishing. I can put it on before bed time. I really enjoy "Bass 2 Billfish".

"technique Specific" Subforum
I was thinking this morning, we should start another subforum called "Technique Specific" and inside are all the sub forums for technique specific bass fishing. I know that there is an absolute plethora of informative articles and writ ups here on BassResource.com, but it stops there. There is no "discussion" as far as technique specific bass fishing goes. Example, once clicked "Technique Specific", you see.. -Flippin' & Pitchin' -Punching -Weighltess -Drop Shot -Cranking -Top Water Ect... I think it would be great because I am often finding myself coming up with specific questions related to say, flipping and pitching or, punching, and I find myself googleing most of it. If we had a subforum for it, I could either search for it or just browse to find answers and come up with new ideas. It is much more difficult browsing through "general fishing" or "tackle". What are your thoughts on this?

Rip Doug Hannon
That is just a shame! And from what I am reading, I am interested to know exactly what happened but I dont think this forum is the place to do so. R.I.P Doug. You contributed and will continue to contribute to Bass fishing for a long time.

Smallest Bass!
I've got nothing on you guys. Caught on a 7 1/2" Zoom Ultravibe Speed Worm. In it's defense, this pond was right outside my apartment complex and most of the bass were stunted and hungry! I dont blame em'.
