    congrats on your success !
  2. Nice looking healthy hawg.
  3. I dont like it (braid) but I use it on my frog setup which I also use for throwin anything into heavy slop/moss. Just cant beat it when you want to be able to quickly haul the fish out of a thick mess.
  4. Nice fish and you better keep that wife, she is one of a kind.
  5. Nice Hawg ! He probably pulled that yak a few yards.
  6. Maybe junebugmn is offering to pickup rods for BR members that cannot get to the outlet ? It would be a nice jesture.
  7. Com'on Hooligan, pickup that Steez rod, just hold it in your hand for a minute, you know you want it. Seriously, I started with an ugly stick, switched to BPS elite, upgraded to Steez, added mid-priced custom, Shimano Cumara, GLoomis GLX, JDM Steez and high end custom. Returned BPS elite, sold off mid-priced custom, Shimano Cumara, most GLoomis GLX. Ended up with 7 Steez, 1 JDM Steez, 1 GLoomis GLX and 1 High End Custom NFC. I promised myself I will never own more than 10 rods. 8-)
  8. Kistler is actually decreasing the value by not honoring/offering the full warranty passed onto him by Gary/NFC. On a more positive note, Deputy Dave I am glad you like the new kistler zbone rod and hope it serves you well.
  9. That z-bone warranty is a joke considering that rod is made using Gary Loomis NorthFork Composites (NFC) blank which has a lifetime warranty. Trey Kistler is dreaming if he thinks very many people are going to pay $275-$400+ for the rod with that pityful warranty. That rod is a sore spot with me considering NFC sent all the initial production run of the 7' HM blanks to Trey Kistler and my rod builder is still waiting on my 7' HM blank from NFC.
  10. I use mine most often for jerkbaits and crankbaits - however, in the winter, i'll use it for silver buddies and 1/4 oz. jigs. I can shakey head with it, throw smaller spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, smaller topwaters. It's one of those rods that will have a place (or two ) in my aresnal for a long time to come. Its just one of those rod that if I want to walk down to the water and fish and Im not sure of what lure or technique and I only want to take 1 rod then its the MBR842C GLX for sure. Its not the perfect rod for everything but it can handle almost anything. It will cast everything a mile from weightless plastics to small swimbaits. I tried an 843 but it didnt handle the light stuff as well. You just gotta get one Lucky Craft Man or your GLX collection will not be complete.
  11. MBR842C GLX - excels at many different techniques ! The MBR842C GLX is IMHO the best all around fishing rod ever made (even with the full cork grip) and especially with a Steez reel. I say that and I now own all Steez rods except for this 1 GLX which you will have to pry from my cold dead hands.
  12. The MBR842C GLX is a "super" rod that can be used for many techniques, IMHO probably one of the best rods ever made. Ive used it for shaky heads, never thought about drop shot but your right it should work well.
  13. Just let me know the next time you are coming to Dallas and I'll call the guy and see if he will give us the .10 tour. Man I would love to take a field trip to that place
  14. OK, I'll try it just to see what it is.
  15. took the question right out of my mouth Brandon at Temple Fork told me the rod Blank is made at their facility in Dallas,TX and assembled at their facility in Dallas,TX. He also said that Gary Loomis designed the blank for them from scratch.
  16. No they aren't. You are correct J Francho, they are not using a rod made by NFC. I just spoke with Brandon at Temple Fork and he told me the rod is made at their facility in Dallas,TX and Gary Loomis designed the blank for them from scratch.
  17. The temple fork rods are built using the new blanks from Gary Loomis new company www.northforkcomposites.com
  18. x2 (I wouldn't dare mention a brand)
  19. Finesse is one of those "it will work most all the time" you just have to have patience. This morning I tried half my tacklebox and couldn't even get a nibble so I grabbed a rod with a 6" black senko and on the first cast working it very slowly back to me, wham ! a 3 # LMB picked it up and ate that senko. Sometimes we want a bite so bad we get in too big of a hurry and just start throwing lures.
  20. Ive got a Daiwa Luna (great prices on ebay), haven't really fished with it yet but hope to at the BR Roadtrip. Ive been reading about the Daiwa Pluton but not yet convinced its worth the price for a reel that would not get much use by me compared to my other reels. The round reels are battle tanks compared to the low profile reels.
  21. I have a Daiwa Luna 253 but have been reading about the Pluton, neither BPS or Cabelas has one locally to see/touch and TW doesn't offer a demo for the Pluton. Can anyone share a personal hands on fishing experience with that reel and compare it to the Luna? Luna http://www.daiwa.com/Reel/detail.aspx?ID=11 Pluton http://www.daiwa.com/Reel/detail.aspx?ID=495
  22. SPEED, you must know my friend, went out on the water last week with him and he wouldn't loose any tackle, I bet we spent 20 min positioning the boat so he could retreive a senko that was hung on a log. I even offer to give him a pack just to give up, I think it was just the challange that drove him.
