  1. I'm a fan of standard Fuji ECS reel seats, cork grips and Fuji Alconite guides. All that stuff is personal preference though and what makes a rod truly "custom." The grips and seat just glue up so it doesn't really make a difference what you pick on the difficulty scale. Pick the stuff you like. You're first rod won't be perfect but there's no reason not to make it how you want it. As far as whether or not to spiral, go for it. It isn't any harder to wrap spiral guides than conventional. I usually start with a 6, two 5's for the spiral and then 4's to the tip. For a personal build I will use Fuji BLAG's and maybe a BLNAG for the size 6 and BFCAT tip. Double footed guides really aren't necessary on most bass rods but I will use one (BLNAG) for the stripper guide just because I like how it looks. Read everything you can find before you start. There are several different spiral configurations and all of them work.
  2. Broken fibula for Carr. Marcus Mariota also broke his fibula today and Tyler Lockett broke his leg, probably tibia and fibula. Tough day for legs.
  3. I think this is more what you're looking for. Mudhole doesn't carry them though. The one you posted is really long. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/winding-checks-no-foregrip/260515.aspx

If you have an Academy close by, check out the Yildiz brand they sell. It's a Turkish company that Academy imports exclusively. The fit and finish is a lot better than the Stoegers I've seen. I've had one of their OU 20 gauges for about 8 years and I have nothing bad to say about it. I really only use it for dove hunting and the occasional clay shoot, so I haven't put 1000's of rounds through it but it's been great for my use. Nevermind, I see that you're in NY. Might be hard to come by.
  5. Me too. It's a better NFL when the Raiders are contending. Hope it's not as bad as it looks. He did mouth "it's broken" when he was coming off the field and he couldn't put any weight on it.
  6. It looks like New England's road to the SB just got a lot easier. Derek Carr appears to have broken his leg.
  7. This! Otherwise, what's the point?
  8. It's a great price. You should get one! You deserve it!
  9. It's the SS SV 103 that is on sale. The SV103 is a different reel. It can get a little confusing if you don't keep up with it.
  10. I'm pretty sure three O linemen were selected too, Frederick, Martin and Smith. Lol, fair enough.
  11. I honestly don't think I've watched a lions game all year. I just thought Stafford was having a really good year, that's mainly what I was referring to. Our secondary has been pretty good but they are definitely susceptible to big pass plays.
  12. He had a fantastic game, 32 for 36 is impressive. Zeke was great too. This is the 3rd or 4th time they've gone up against the #1 defense or the #1 rushing defense only to knock that team out of their #1 status. They will definitely get ROY and MVP consideration. The defense has been playing really well too and they are getting guys back in time for the playoffs. Detroit should test them though.
  13. The .380 will probably be tiny, designed for concealed carry. I personally like a more powerful round for everyday carry but do use a .380 for pocket carry on occasion. Either way, that's a sweet score!
  14. This is all you can really do. I've dealt with addiction my entire adult life, both as a user and as a family member of a user. Everyone's "rock bottom" is different. Be there when he is truly ready and be prepared to hold him 100% accountable during his recovery.
  15. Congratulations Clayton!
  16. It depends on the cover. Ripping a trap from vegetation requires a stouter, faster rod than fishing one in open water.
  17. Daiwa just released a new rod, the DX Type-H Glass. It's supposed to be based off of the Evergreen rod that Brett Hite uses for bladed jigs. It's a 7'3" glass composite rod rated at 1/2-11/2oz and costs $149.99. Daiwa and Evergreen have partnered on some distribution stuff and B. Hite is sponsored by both companies. If you're interested in trying glass for these techniques, this is a rod to look at.

I like the Hitch and Silver/Black back patterns but I don't think it matters at all. I agree with getting the 68, it has a better action.
  19. I agree, they need to face some adversity before the playoffs start. They did a good job of staying focused during the winning streak, I'm curious to see how they handle losing. The other issue with Romo is the last 3 hits he's taken have caused serious injuries. I don't have any faith that his body can hold up to NFL hits anymore. I don't see him playing in Dallas next year, Dak is the man in Dallas. I'm not sure what his contract status is either, Jerry Jones has reworked it so many times over the last 4 or 5 seasons. I know it's bad but not sure how bad.
  20. Yeah, it was pretty bad. This was Dak's first really bad game. It was nice to see the defense play so well though. Sean Lee had an amazing game. A lot of people here in Dallas are already screaming for Romo. It's insane.
  21. Glass rods are so much fun to fish.
  22. I don't own either but I would take the X over the regular Avid. The guides make all the difference in the world for me. I also think St. Croix does split grips the right way.
  23. Woof...that was a terrible game, we definitely deserved to lose.
