If I caught it 3lbs when I left the lake, 4.5lbs by the time I got home & 5lbs by the next day! If someone else catches it 1.75 lbs

Needed a strategy
Why a T-rig vs the weightless? I figured bottom would be bad as the weeds seemed more dense at the bottom just spindly at the top. I was worried that a spinnerbait might get caught in a bunch fo the stuff. Trying to keep a spinner bait in 2"s of water seemes impossible. I did forget that I did try a spinner albeit a crappy type small underspin to help stay higher up. Re the frog I thought about it but figured I had already tried the popper which is kind of frog imitatiing I figured. I'll definately take the advice and give them a try though. What about a weedless jig and plastic very slow working the weeds? Also to be clearer The weeds started about 30yards from shore and ran perfectly parallel to the shorline out about 30yards wide out to about 60yards. I did mess up I should have tried both edges more with crankbaits and a swimbait. Thanks for the replies FFI - AKA Matt Crum

Needed a strategy
Not sure where to post this lures? outing? I fished yesterday for about 6hrs. The weather had cooled of to approx 79 for a couple of days down from 85-88. The lake has tons of downed timber and is known as a tough lake to catch bass. Pros even had trouble who visited recently. The water is normal looking lake water not clear. I didn't start untill around 12:30pm and tried the timber ( all near shore ) and had zero luck. Later I found some submerged grass in maybe 8-10ft of water that is getting close to the much deper 50' dam area. The grass was kind of spindley and kind of looks like a single but softer evergreen skinny branch but farther down the stalk it has multiple branches. The weeds were a couple of inches from the surface. I tried a white fluke and had some nice bites but no hookup. I tried a green pumpkin senko and nothing, tried a topwater popper nothing. Even with the Fluke weedless you still would drag back some weeds about 40% of the time so I figured a crank bait was out. I did mess up I should have tried the grass lines as it was very defined on both sides. What else could I have tried in the weeds? Thanks in advance FFI AKA - Matt Crum

Leg cramps while sleeping
Uic I'm familiar with the calf stretch during a previous knee ligament episode. I do drink lots of fluids but good advice anyway. I never knew about the headache connection. As far as the toes at first I thought yes then the more I thought maybe not. Post is a little confusing; generally I'm on my back or side and I don't think it is always pointing toes even just fully extending my leg in general. At least I think so who knows I'm generally asleep.

Leg cramps while sleeping
Thanks guys I at least feel a little more "normal" about it. I eat a banana for lunch several days a week but haven't noticed much change effect over the years. I pretty much just learned to avoid the "big stretch" during the night. My calf still hurts from last night's. I'll probably find out my wife has been slugging my calf for years!

Leg cramps while sleeping
If I stretch my legs completely out I've got about a 90 + % chance of getting a calf cramp. Probably right leg more so(?)I always assumed it was from umpiring and fatigue but I haven't umpired for years and still get them. This has been going on for probably almost 30 years It is not totally limited to sleeping. I'll get one now and then during the day and lets just say that an occasional one happens at a really inopportune time :-? Does anyone else have this problem?

Lion tamer
Jeff lets just say the next time we go to Clinton you should keep your life jacket on! I've already got the alibi planned and can see the headline now.. " Distraught man drowns with 200lb audit paper stack duct taped to his back!" Maybe a better idea would be for you to will it to Kyle and I will work out a deal with him, less paper trail that way ( paper trail get it ) Remind me to get a better look at your tackle boxes the next time we get together! ;D

Lion tamer
Hey Jeff before you pull the trigger can you visit your lawyer and have the fishing gear willed to me? J/K Go fishing after work that's been known to solve a lot Triton I'm guessing it is quite possible on the outside to do one's job very well while at the same time being bored on the inside. Just a thought.

Rods on an airplane. Please help!
I'd say no holder = no fly with it. I thik you'd be nuts to try without one. People shove oversized heavy bags, heavy and huge laptop bags. It's always the last person on who has the largest luggage ( that should have been checked). He does the "stuff it at all costs" deal on somebody else's nice luggage. You need to check the lengths of the rod vs the carry on size limit ( for yourt airplane(s) ) to determine what your rod pieces can be. You could also pack in a pvc tube and pay extra or ship it ahead via UPS to be safer just my .02 & good luck

Washers anyone ?
It's been a while but as a kid we used to belong to a 75(?) family camping club. Washers was a given. We just dug Campbell's soup cans in the ground with the rim slightly below grade. We cleared the grass away from around the cup. I think I remember the same scoring as yours. Our "in the box only counted if within 1 washer length of the cup or less. I think we were closer than 25' though. I'm sure the distance isn't the same otherwise 4" PVC would seem like gravy compared to a soup can. 11-0 was a skunk otherwise you played to 21 At around 5th grade I changed schools and the new school had washers as one of the end of the year outdoor challenge events. They used coffee cans from the same distance that we used soup cans! I could throw them in blind folded. I won a ribbon of some sort.

12 lb yo-zuri ultra soft
[quote author=715240405D6C715F4557330 link=1246670722/8#8 date=1246816748 No offense is taken here but look at the smiley face. See him wink? That means I'm joking. I was more less bustin on RoadWarrior who sleeps with a spool under his pillow.

12 lb yo-zuri ultra soft
No offense Bassn but In my opinion this is a very inaccurate statement. From what I've read on this site their are many members on the board ( me included ) who use Yo-zuri Ultrasoft. I cannot comment directly on 12lb for spinning as I don't use that high of a lb test so that could be a source of difference for the statement. In my opinion lb test vs diameter has become somewhat of a joke for advertising. Yo-zuri's breaking spec's are quite a bit higher than the lb test they advertise so use that for a comparison when deciding lb strength and diameter. I use mainly 6 & 8# test & some 4. I love the stuff and at its price point rates very high in my book. One of the moderators posts about Yo-zuri ( smaller lb test I believe ) and he has some impressive smallmouth in his hands in his avatar. Do a search on Yo-zuri its had lots of discussion pro and con but I've seen many a post about liking it. If you don't find something right away in the search keep trying as it has something to be desired as search tools go.

baitcasting question
In answer to you main question like another said you are (k)not ( pun intended) getting out all the backlash. You must make sure you go back all the way on the spool to the last problem ( often many turns and then some ). Just like bait casting even removing backlashes takes practice. You just have to learn the feel as to when you've got all the lashes out. Good luck and let us know how it all turns out. FFI - AKA Matt Crum

Not happy with braid.
Braid on spinning = no loop jumping & no twists mono on spinning = inevitable line twist When I went to braid my frustration level with spinning reels went down by x 20 You've got to be doing something wrong or just way different than most I use Stren Superbraid but I've used others but I had no line twist with them either.

Daiwa Viento - going the way of the Dodo Bird
I'm also guessing that retail pricing was used ot man cost. Thus it wouldn't be $12 million for Diawa. The retailers would have been 12mil but their costs would have been much higher.

Idiot pedestrians A RANT
Hey no problem Sarge my reaction was a little over the top. I don't even remember who typed what. No big deal. As far as whomever posted about the kids you might have a point but a mother with a full load of groceries, a purse and a couple of kids is tough. Always assume at any moment that a young child will bolt. It happened last year near here. A 3 yr old was standing at a corner with a grandparent and for no reason pulled their hand away from the grndparent and just bolted out into the street. The child was killed by a semi. Toddlers and young kids are just unpredictable. PS this was mainly about parking lots and ones similar to Walmart but most are similar.
