  3. Great comeback on the foot up And hey no grandkids here yet The 9yr olds are mine / ours, I'm just a member of the " older guy with young kids club " ok back to the thread """ swims for his rod and reels """
  4. Hey Dsaa, If it makes you feel any better I use 2 5lb plastic dumbells tied together for one of my anchors! I dubbed it as officialy my " ghetto " anchor !!!
  5. Rooster, I own both a President and a Medalist. I haven't examined the Medalist close enough to answer your original question. Both are very smooth reels though. I haven't seen enough difference that a Medalist is worth $20 ore than the President. Go for what you like. Like several have said seldom do you here someone say " I should have gotten the cheaper reel "
  6. Folks I know Gidget personally and I'm sure she doesn't mind me telling you her age. She is the proudest 31 yr old I know. Don't go and judge Robert now,...she's very mature for her age. (hows that G? Good enough for an intro to friend in pic 4?? ) A very Happy Birthday wish to someone who has become very dear to me in the last few years, GO GIDGE!! Have a GREEEEAT night!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! This guy doesn't miss a chance!!!!!!! He would take a shot at a nun if no one was looking! GEEZZZZZ!!!! LOL I still can't believe he didn' t shamelessly try to sell his vote for a shot at Hook'em's cousin!
  7. congrats Gidget enjoy the special day you only get a chance to turn 22 a few times LOL
  8. Hey Avid good to see you back. Yes it does seem like things went off topic a little. My whole original point was that I think I've found a pretty decent quality GANDER Mtn reel that can often be bought for $15 -$25. I own one of the reels myself and I like it fairly well. This particular reel on the surface appears to be a Pflueger Medalist which is an $80 reel. I also own a Medalist so I feel that I am somewhat qualified to make the comparison. anyone who has never fished either and implies a "factual" statement about the quality I feel is in error. Just because an item can be purchased inexspensively doesn't guarantee it is low quality. Although history says that scenario is most often the case. For some reason these reels are very popular recently. It could be just because of the low price or it could be because a lot of people find it to be a good value. Time will tell. Ok no big deal one way or the other. To each his own.
  9. LOL I'll do that. He'll want to know who did such a good job of recommending to me. Thus I will need your credit card as ID to show him I'm almost ready to buy so send your numbers to my house LOL
  10. So Zel what you're really saying is that I should be the Mook of Moron? LOL I resent that! JK Wayne, I agree with your agreement about the agreeable deal... I think?? LOL and WII60 - very well put you can be one complex son of a gun! ( meant to be a compliment ) Sorry Long Mike I don't mean to throw the thread off topic
  11. Nothing to sugarcoat No big deal like I said but one question Where did it get proven that this product is crap? I think I did forget to say even without proof you very well could be right I don't know I'm done on the subject not an issue just an observation of what I have seen. Like I said I don't even know if I'm right just objective its all good
  12. Ther is no way that this many people are going to agree on this or any other topic of this complexity for that matter Everyone is going to have a different opinion or logic behind their belief. Everything has been said on this that can be. Lots of gret posts How about we agree to disagree and end this one amicably I might watch for a couple more posts then I done with it I hereby dub myself the Mook of reason ( inside Mook club joke for newbies )
  13. Nope...Fifteen wasted dollars for pure crap. If you're just fishing for pan fish, I guesss it doesn't make any difference. If you were fishing for a bass worth talking about, it might. : Hey RW / Kent First of all I'm worried how this will sound but first and formost I mean absolutely no disrespect with this post. The more I thought about this the more it bugged me. First I've been bidding on E-bay these GST's for a couple of weeks now and have been losing all of them. For that many people to be bidding on one model of a reel I think means one or more things. One is that this must be a pretty decent reel for and or a pretty decent value. You might be in a financial state that it doesn't matter and have needs that won't allow you a hint of risk taking while bass fishing. Someone else might be a 22yr old with a new baby that could use something, someone on a fixed income with limited funds or a very young fisherman just starting out. Unless you have expperience with the reel that I mentioned then I think your post is reckless. If no experience then you need to open those dark green Shimano eyes to other possibilities. I also think that by how you posted it and with your reputation on the site that many would take it as gospel. I honestly don't think if no experience that your post is in the best interest of the site. No big deal either way. If no experience then I think it should be posted as an opinion. You as a moderator is entitled to one just like the average Joe's on the site. if you have experience or second hand experience of junk then I stand corrected and I would offer to delete this post ASAP Again this may sound harsh but it is in no way meant as disrespectful just my .02 FFI - AKA Matt Crum

  18. There was a law passed of some sort about keeping phone #'s I don't remember the details but If you get rid of your land line home phone are you guaranteed to be able to use it for a cell# ?
  19. The analog to digital conversion in 2/09 has nothing to do with HD programming. http://www.dtvanswers.com/ Digital =/= High Definition Burley you are a wealth of information thanks for taking the time to post I had no idea that digital and HDTV were not one in the same. I had no need so never thought about it. I understand it now and read your link but your equation seems contridictory The equation might best be HDTV =digital * (X) here's another link that kind of explains more for others http://www.oceanic.com/OceanicWebApps/Television/HD/hd_learn_digitalvsHD.html FFi - AKA Matt Crum
  20. Speadbead AKA Wayne I got to thinking about it and we may have done the alltime best at agreeing to disagree. We should both be HIGHLY PAID diplomats of foreign dignitaries or something LOL FFI AKA - Matt Crum
