  1. I do my jig fishing with a 7 ft MH rod, and 50 to 65lb pp. Its a chore on a 7ft rod, I couldn't imagine dragging one out with a 6 and a half rod.
  2. Take a few ibuprofen, then take the rod back.
  3. If you have some money, and want to look cool get the daiwa, otherwise if you want a slow reel that has plenty of torque a 5.3:1 or slower reel can be found cheap in the bargin bin, or pawn shop.
  4. I tie mine on a j hook, or the original worm hook with a palomar. Do like cwen said for the rest.
  5. The vendetta looks cool, but it's a berkley/ pure fishing product.
  6. It works great on fluorocarbon and mono. Do not use on braid.
  7. I have a custom reel that matches the rod, the only one they have is the 7/4 MH. I have a pitch / flip stick. Is fifty bucks a good deal?
  8. The ugly lite costs the same at you know where, but I like the way you think.
  9. Any lip less crank, and lipped cranks. Braid which I define as power pro, not the cheap wanna be rips, can handle any lure. Most people get a bad opinion of braid because the use the cheap versions first.
  10. A good bass reel is just like anything else, you get what you pay for. I would suggest a mid range shimano like the citica, or the daiwa tierra, or a revo s, or sx. If you are more comfortable with the six pin/vbs style reels you can get a abu c3 to start out. I can put down my zillion and pick up my new curado and throw both the same, I think it comes down to skill, and technique.
  11. How did you lose the baits? More info. Later, On the cast, no backlash, just a snapping sound followed by watching my high dollar lures flying across the lake. Two times, on two different spools of the same line right after using the kvd conditioner. I never said it doesn't work, I said it doesn't work with braid.
  12. The ugly lite gets my vote. You can throw all three lines with it, and if you can break it, you get a new one for free.
  13. This stuff might work on the cheap braid like fireline, and spider wire, but on two separate occasions I applied it a full 24 hours before use and lost some expensive baits. I wont use it again, on braid.
  14. I highly recommend that you get some decent fluorocarbon.
  15. The only place you could get pb@j ribbontails :'(
  16. Seaguar red label. It wont fly off the spool like !00% florocrap.
  17. I made my old lady hold the spool with a pencil, or straw until I learned the phone book technique.
  18. Nice gear, let the bass critique it.
  19. Don't use it on pp braid. I have had it happen twice after using the kvd line lube on two sets of braid. I had two expensive xrk 75's snap off after using this product on braid, it worked fine on the fluorocarbon.
  20. How deep are you crankin? I have several soft tip, and glass rods that cost way less than the ones you listed. They work fine if not better than the high end ones, but hey its your money.
  21. Sorry, I didn't know this was a spinning thread. I wouldn't put braid on a spinning reel, so I have no advice.
  22. Good list for the money minded fishermen. I hope everybody has a good fourth of July, and takes a few hours out of the day to go fishing. Most of the combo's you listed are great deals, but I would add a spin cast combo for the folks like my mom who grew up on the old 33. I have noticed over the past few months more people fishing from the bank so I want to ask all bass boaters out here to slow down when passing these spots, and after you load the boat go down and talk to the new crowd.
  23. I have mine serviced every sixty days. I fish every day rain or shine so my gear takes a lot of abuse. My local tuner only charges $12 bucks a reel to clean and lube. I have switched to braid and fluorocarbon for all my fishing so I get new guides every six to twelve months. It might sound like overkill, but I don't have time to waste on the water. I could do all the work myself but that would take time away from my fishing.
  24. Is this the same line that has that little sawed of idiot who needs a bigger boat?
