  1. Unless your fishing close or directly under your boat, does it matter. Next time I wade fish, I’ll be worried about my white boney knees.
  2. Very nice, it’s a kayak style canoe, love it. I used to sit on throw cushions to paddle from the center, it seemed too track better when it was breezy.
  3. Hi and good luck, from the Sunshine State of Florida
  4. I keep everything in original packaging, my extras I keep in small Tupperware tote in the shop. When I’m fishing, Plano speed bags they still stay in original bags.
  5. I hate to admit this, I am bad about trailer maintenance. My boat stays on the water so I never use it. Only once a year when I do boat maintenance and it never travels more than 1/2 mile. This year I’ve got to get tires, including spare and I think I’ll re-bearing, races and seals. Wanting to try another area so I want to make it road ready. My boat is on the trailer….. it’s in ICU
  6. Oh yea …. Even on maintained I’ve run in to unfriendly’s … knee high grass. Nope not me ether, sorry about that. Try the lures I suggested during the day, but still be aware of your surroundings. With everything flooded a lot of the critters have had to relocate.
  7. Do ya have access at night? I’ve had results hitting golf course ponds at night. Top water or a shallow running crankbaits, always worked good too.
  8. My boat is small, 15/48 mod-V. I have rods that I can use with multiple baits. I think back to when I was wading, one rod did it all. Just re-tied and fished, it wasn’t that big of a deal. When I go on someone else’s boat, usually 2 rigs and I just make it work. I like to take a spare in case my reel decides to, spit the bit, so to speak. Don’t get me wrong, I love tackle and gear as much as anyone here. If I maybe had a bigger boat, but I like a clean deck, one or two over the side, 2-3 in the rod rack.
  9. @papajoe222…Do you pull the hub and repack the bearings or just pump grease with a buddy bearing type thing. When I had to winterize, I never minded the boat part of it, but I disliked the trailer part of it.
  10. Hi and welcome back from the Sunshine State of Florida
  11. Here’s my thinking about reel speeds…..I feel everyone has a natural cadence or speed for reeling, where it’s your comfort zone. I match ….type of bait + my cadence = reel speed. I tend to be a slow or lazy when it comes to reeling, so most of my reels a 7 - 8.5 ratio with higher IPT.
  12. I just picked up Zebco Bullet and an Omega Pro, both size 20, an eBay thing. I paired them a med/ med 7ft, and the other telescopic med/hvy 6-6 for my truck rig.….. haven’t fished them yet, just a few throws off the dock. Got them about a week before the hurricanes hit. They are smooth and easy toe use, I can skip like crazy with both of them, can’t wait to fish them.
  13. I have a Mitchell combo from Walmart, $39.98, it got me through a rough patch. My wife was having radiation and chemotherapy treatments. We were in a rental, a couch, small two person dining table, and a bed, various pots and pans for the kitchenette. No radio, or TV, but it did have a sliding glass door to a 8x8 concrete patio with a fenced back yard. I bought the combo, on an impulse, while at Walmart stocking the house with stuff. I could leave the sliders open and could hear if my wife needed anything while I practiced casting and pitching from the patio. I spent countless hours and days on that make believe boat, casting at various targets in the yard, sidearm, underhanded and backhanded and pitching. I don’t always use it, but I take it with me on the boat. Like I mentioned it got me through a rough patch, but it was nothing compared to what my wife had to endure.
  14. I have a few different brands of reels… I like the combination or dual braking systems the best.
  15. I kept one tied on, and on deck, all the time….. all year. They work all year-round here.

  22. Glad everyone made it through…. I know I late to reply, but this one was weird. Had power until after the storm, then power company shut down the whole area. So roll out the generator, then cell service and internet went down, tower was without power and backup depleted. Then the water started rising….. Orlando-Sanford area got so much rain,( so did we) and St John’s run south to north took awhile to get here. anyway all is ok here and glad we all made it another one
