Abu Garcia Vendetta MH Fast...did I make a mistake?
@Ohnooze Have you fished with it yet? Try it and see how ya like it. I’ve got two rods that say MH but act more like a club, I keep checking them for a Louisville slugger stamp. Then again, I’ve got some MH’s that are on the softer side. I would try it, ya might like it better.

Would you rather catch...?
I really just want a double digit bass. But I really like catching all the other ones too.

Quick spinnerbait poll...
Depends, if I’m yo-yoing, I like about half a floating worm. My theory is that it keeps the tail up when bouncing it along the bottom.

Black, no sugar and no cream!
I went through a coffee craze, got a press, percolator, k-cup, even an expresso machine. Now I just brew a pot and I like it black and strong.

DECEMBER 7TH
It was a very sad day. It changed peoples lives forever. I wonder if they thought about how it would bring a country in total unison, instead of crippling it.

Abu Garcia serial decoder
If your reel has #1, 3, 5, 7, 9.......it is most likely ca.1958 If your reel has #1, 3, 5, 7, 10.....it should fall between 1959~1961. If your reel has #2, 3, 5, 7, 10.....it should fall between 1962 and mid~1964. If your reel has #2, 4, 6, 8, 10.....it should have a lot number. If it does not, the frame is most likely a replacement I don’t quite understand this part @bulldog1935 So my reel is a 1965? Is that good or bad? I don’t know much about Abu’s

Abu Garcia serial decoder
Hey does anyone here where the serial number decoder for Abu Garica is located I picked up an Abu Garcia 6000 at an estate sale, it’s a little rough cosmetically. I just going to use it for trolling. I’m want trying to find out a little history on it, if anybody knows the website for some information about it.

Your Favorite Nylon Mono?
Berkeley Big Game, it is good line and inexpensive. I also use Bass pro excell when I don’t need a big spool it’s inexpensive as well and it acts like Big Game.

DVT a quick question
DVT I try to do my own maintenance on my reels, oil them periodically and clean/ re-lube yearly. My cleaning is usually a WD-40 bath (works like a mini hand held pressure cleaner), and not harmful to the plastics. I Soak my bearings in acetone use very low air pressure to dry and clean. Then re-lube and assemble. My question to you is what’s the common mistakes that the novice reel DIY people make when doing maintenance on the gear? Thanks G

What's "cold water"?
I used to fish in the winter when I lived in Nc, snow on the ground and ice on the water, I don’t know what the water temp was. I think I had put the bait in thier mouth but, I would get a bite occasionally. Couldn’t do it very long, # my hip boots weren’t insulated but they were dry.

What's "cold water"?
I go to the springs on a hot day to cool off, the water is year round 72 and it’s cold to me when I jump in. I don’t know what fish consider cold.

Winter Bass Fishing Projects
We really don’t have a close out kinda winters here. I’m shutting myself down, well my boat did for me, it’s down in a major way. Work on boat and trailer, thinking about putting an on board charger in the boat. Do rod and reel maintenance that kinda thing.

How do “you” retrieve a lipless crank?
I would have swore a straight retrieve would have been most people method. I was wrong and realized I need to take more chances with the bait. Fish more cover and drag or bounce bottom, fish through cover and grass. I was a med/slow straight retrieve, never really did anything thing else, other than changing the depth, letting it sink before you start bringing it back. By the pic @Catt just posted “it’s fish it any way ya can” One thing is fact, how ever you retrieve it, as @TnRiver46 says “ you gotta use the handle”.

2025 plans
2025…..well I’m just going to go fishing, not try so hard. I fished mostly crank and jerk baits in 2024, which is what I said I was going to do. My numbers went down, but it did build up my confidence and experience using them. Glad I took the time to do it, plus got some cool new tackle. Oh and get back to hawg hunting, still haven’t got me a double digit.

Braid and mono.
Don’t forget having to keep line conditioner on them all the time, trying to combat line memory. Oh and still changing line every year too, I like that also Haha i have two rigs I use braid on, pitching and dock rig. I have Berkeley X9 on them, it’s the quietest I’ve used so far.

Salt Springs Run and Northern Lake George?
The mouth of salt springs used to be a hot spot, eel grass is gone. Up in the run I heard of them catching a few, but mostly I seen pan fishing. @mfnew where did you get the info on the drawdown for Rodman. I am not questioning you on it, just I like to keep up on it. I fish the Ocklawaha a lot.
-
Braid and mono.
I’m the opposite, I like mono over braid, just my personal preference. I know braid is smaller, stronger and last longer. I like the smoothness of mono and it’s quiet. @Alex from GA my boat does 25 mph, totally empty, low on fuel, with a good tail wind, plus my hat on backwards so I don’t get drag from the wind.

What else do you fish on your crankbait rod?
I’ve have an older BPS med/med / fast action tourney special, got it at an estate sale. But it feels more like a med/ hvy but on the lighter side. I can use it for a whole different presentations if I’m limited on how many rods I can carry.
