As I Get Older…
I live in Florida now, and I don’t like the cold. I was born in West Virginia, moved around a lot, even lived in Maine for about a year. The cold never bothered me, was stationed in Nc ( Ft Bragg) for awhile, got sent to Panama. I was ruined after that. The warm weather is where it’s at, I can handle 100 degrees better than 60*. I spent some time back in Central America after I got out of the service. Love the tropics.

How many of you troll?
Caught LM and crappie when trolling for stripers, when they run. Other than that, I once let a curly tail hang over the while repositioning the boat. The rod tuned and started over the edge, was able to catch it, after some fancy juggling and dancing on deck. Thought it was a snag, ended up being a dink large mouth.

How many lures catch 80% of your bass?
Last year I made myself use hard baits… so for 2024 it was square billed. Any other time it’s T-rigged worms or creatures, with that being said, my numbers dropped greatly for 2024. Not making that commitment to hard baits for 2025.

Do you service your reels?
@bulldog1935 Didn’t you mention that you have and ultrasonic cleaner and you use simple green in it? Is it big enough to put this whole part in intact? and is it heated. anybody else that uses one please chime in with which one you use. Do they clean bearings without removing the dust shields.

Do you service your reels?
@bulldog1935 ok I just serviced one of my ABU Ambassadors…. WOW! …. They are a lot different than my low profiles. It took me a while and I did it it back together, it’s working. It is a lot quieter than before but, I still hear a slight gear sound. Anything tips on what to check, or are they slightly noisy.

Do you service your reels?
https://deuthlon.com/collections/sports-fishing-reel-maintenance Hey does anybody know anything about this product, they have a reel maintenance starter kit. I’m happy with what I’m useing but like to keep an open mind, might be better. @redmeansdistortion my ABC Hobby tool ( bearing cleaner/ grease repacked) came in. I tried it out on some spare bearings I had. I really works good, no removing dust shields, cleans fast. A bit messy at first but getting better.

I'm writing a book!
I think that’s a great idea. Have you thought of the format yet? Back in the day when I was traveling a lot. Used to picked up moon or lonely planet travel guides. Backpackers used to trade them at airports and what not. Anyway they gave and area, then attractions and sleeping, accommodations, etc… You could list lakes or ponds, accommodations, access points, tackle and where to get supplies…..plus give them ratings. The guide books I liked the best, were the ones that personalized it a bit.

Alex led me to this:
@Swamp Girl I too am intrigued by the color choice of what the bass wants. What works there doesn’t work as well here and so on. Sometimes it’s a variation of the same color, green pumpkin doesn’t work as good here as well a watermelon for me, both green but different, different regions too. @Jigfishn10 I might have to try chartreuse again, or a least buy some, since I just made the statement that , I’ve never caught anything on chartreuse. It’ll be the only thing they bite next time I’m out and I won’t have anything yellow. Totally agree, I keep trying different ones

Alex led me to this:
@Swamp Girl The reason I ask about the colors, was if you picked them because that’s what works for you there, or was it on suggestion of these colors work with this lure and presentation. I’ve never caught anything on chartreuse, now bubble gum/ pink was one of my biggest surprises….. I’m really hot pink, won’t leave the dock with out some now. I’m going to order these, and try them out. Thanks

Alex led me to this:
@Swamp Girl did you pick those colors for your area or, were they recommended for your first purchase?

Alex led me to this:
DANG IT EVERYONE. Now I want some too. Have the perfect place to try them, crystal clear and spring feed river(72* year round), see big ones laying in the eel grass. They simply refuse to bite, maybe this will change their minds.
