This what I do, my boat has limited space. I rotate the others depending on how I’m fishing that day…. Plus I don’t want the other rigs to get jealous.

I use a lot of the BPS soft plastics, I keep a stock of ribbon tailed

I like MH/Fast for water more open, I use a H/Fast for the thick stuff.

I know a lot of people don’t like Bass Pro/ Cabela’s, but they have a very economical line of tackle. Their hard baits work good and I don’t cry too much if I loose one. I also have few of their rods and reels, two of the Carbonlite which I really like. When it comes down to it, house brands are usually made by the same manufacturer and just private labeled. Same goes for most items, same product, different labels.

X2 I have limited space in my boat. I do have 2 rigs for pitching( braid and heavier rods) but one is a spinning rig for skipping under docks.

Does anyone remove the seal cover on the bearing? I usually do it makes it easier to clean and get grease in.

Didn’t know they had one for small bearings, looks like I’m going to be buying me some Xmas presents. I use grease instead of oil when I can, I like smooth and quiet.

I use BPS humping toads, soft plastic, it sinks really, really slow. I pick top of the frog colors to match what’s around. Top water, or hollow body… white or orange belly is what use.

Who has the spool pin removal tool or the pliers or both? I don’t have ether. Been using a regular set of pliers.

I do mine once a year, clean, lube, replace, or repair what’s needed. I even re-spool with fresh mono, and clean the rods.

WOW! @Deleted account Haven’t been catching that size around here, they are babies compared to that one. @redmeansdistortion, thanks for the info about the metered braid, will start looking for some inexpensive stuff. These two rigs will get used once a year during when, and if the stripers come up the river. This year, the hurricanes messed everything up, even the shrimp stayed away.

If they are “ filled up” will they, (the 5000 and 6000), hold the 300 yards? I will get some fluorocarbons. I’m trolling for stripers, been using a low profile bait casters. I just want to have dedicated rigs for trolling.

Thank you @bulldog1935 this info helps. I’m going to use these reels for trolling, going to put 50lb braid and about 15-20 lb 7ft + leader. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A 3/8-1/4oz green pumpkin jig, with a netbait paca craw. The smallest one, Jr. or baby craw, I think, watermelon or lighter green color. Would work the deeper spots in the river, slow and methodically grid out the area, basically what most would call over fishing an area. Haven’t fished the cold in years, all I had was hip boots with multiple pairs of socks. My feet would eventually go numb, remember the pins and needles when they’d start warming up.

I’ve never use a trailer on a chatter bait, going to give it a try though. 50/50 on a spinner bait.

I was on a job in near Raleigh Nc, for about 3 months. A Cabelas was about 10 minutes away from my hotel. I spent so much time there, the employee’s we kidding me about me working there. Now I a BPS about an hour, in Daytona. I do ship to store orders on rods and reels so I can inspect them before tacking possession. I fish on a budget so they make it affordable.

I got to witness this one time, I was driving along my favorite smallie river. Setting up to do electrofishing, I stopped they let me watch and get educated. I was amazed at the fish I didn’t know lived in the river. I meet an old timer who had been doing that river for a while and we talked about the different fish populations he had seen rise and fall. It was a informative experience that stumbled upon.
