  1. Hope ya get another shot at it. It still took a lot to bend two outta three on stock hook. I’d still change them out and go back.
  2. This a tough one….. I don’t think of it as an attraction, it doesn’t draw them from a distance. They have to be close to smell it, which means they were already interested. I think it does cover up, what ever we’ve done to the bait, through production or handling the bait. I use baitmate, I can get it locally, I think it helps. Think I going to try what @Catt with the extra shot. Why can’t they make fishing scent that will last as long as 90 wt gear oil. When I get that on my hands, it last for days, even after washing them.
  3. @Rodney Smith, talk to your doctor….I’m sure he’ll tell the do’s and don’t s, with the sun, infection, etc. My wife had to wear a Fanny pack with a pump in it, she wore it for three days out of the week. Chemotherapy affects each person differently, dosage, length, and frequency. It can even affect your ability to make rash decisions, there in the end of her treatment she had, what the doctor told me, was chemo brain, she couldn’t make simple decisions. Like, wether she wanted her shoes tied, did she want to sit up for a while or go to bed. You might want to take a friend with ya fishing, they can help ya out in those situations where you need it. I truly wish you and loved ones the best, I’ll have you in my thoughts. G
  4. @James Morgen do a search on Glenn’s videos he has one about spinner baits, talks about blades, the lift, trailer, etc. They sell kits too where you make your own.
  5. I’m fortunate, I can fish all four here, but I think I like spring the best. The cool mornings, the sun coming up to warm things. The new growth, everything green and growing.
  6. I use Walmart spinners, with BPS Bo-Hawg trailers, or with pieces of my used plastics I save. Sometimes I have to tweak them, but I don’t cry to hard when I loose them. I also with them being inexpensive I cast them in places I probably shouldn’t.
  7. Well happy belated birthday @BrianMDTX…. I get days like that. A while back it was hot and I felt totally exhausted…. I put the stick pins out on the boat and just sat there. Ate some grapes guzzled a bottle of water…. I fished for about an hour after that and packed it in, think I was back at the dock before 11:00am
  8. Fast eddy’s I couldn’t find the abec ratings, but boca, does they have kits too.
  9. I’m not a tournament fisherman, but I don’t like it when people step in my seats. So don’t step in the seats…. Talk to your teammate, explain your situation, let him know first time from a boat thing. I’m sure he’ll give ya pointers and help ya out.
  10. https://www.fasteddybearings.com/fishing-reel-bearings/ They have bearing kits, but I had to measure some of mine and order the bearing individually. You could upgrade the bearing rating too, abec 5 or 7.
  11. I don’t know what state you’re in, but certain size didn’t have a title before 1970. I had to produce a “bill of sale” and they went off that. Got a title, registration, the whole nine yards.
  12. Haha I was just at Walmart looking at Ozark rods for my truck rig, but all they had left was spinning rods.
  13. Try secret lures, the stupid jig head is what I use.
  14. Around here in the summer, when the bite starts slowing down around 10-11am, I’ll throw top water in what shade or shadows I can find. I still start out at daylight chucking topwater.
  15. Don’t forget the tried and true, Silver and gold with black back.
  16. Hey @Koz, your delay might be a good thing. I live on St. John’s near Lake George. We are flooded here, and the weather is crappy. When it flooded like this, seems the bass move into the flooded area and feed. Might do good on a kayak, with a bass boat( it very little, 15ft) I’ve nosed in around the cypress and pitched creature bait or soft plastics Texas rigged. It’s rough fishing, snags, hitting stuff with trolling motor, and snakes. Everything gets displaced when it floods, even the gators, had a 5+ footer up in the yard two days ago. When you do head this way, Rodman has a campground and the fishing is good. It has a ton of submerged stumps though.
  17. @Buzzbaiter I fish a river that is Gin clear with a water temperature of low 70’s. Let me tell ya, it’s tough fishing. I’ve caught little one 2-3 being the biggest, but mostly under 1 pound, way under. the only thing I’ve got them to hit on, is a all black very small square bill. 1/4 ounce I think, and a 7 1/2 ribbon tail June bug color. The river is full of Bluegill and Sunfish, but I’ve tried every pattern of bluegill pattern of bait I’ve got and, that is the only thing I’ve caught fish on. l’ve seen really nice bass, but the ignore my bait.
  18. @bulldog1935, everyone here, on the forum was good , it was the bunch here that couldn’t agree. It was a fun thread though.
  19. Well everyone, we could never agree on the guidelines of what equipment we could use. We squashed the whole idea, ghee’s…what started as a simple little game, turned sideways quick, oh well “ Que sera, sera”.
  20. I carry a Leatherman Skeletool, one of the most handiest knife I’ve ever carried.
  21. Nice write up, @Brian11719, thank you.
  22. Nice fish, got a belly on it, I’m say 5-6ish. I can relate, I caught a nice smallie wade fishing once, thigh deep water, fishing pole in one hand, fish in the other. I was so excited, I put the fish back in the water to get my tape, so I could measure it. Like it was just going to stay there and wait for me. What was I thinking.
  23. I’ve said this before, when I’m going into an area and hunting the big ones. I shut down everything, all electronics, lift trolling motor and I push pole in. When I’m just regular fishing,….I really don’t have waypoints, I have more of what I call routes, section of shoreline or cover. I might be too cautious but I slow down, idle in until about 100 or so yards. I just sit for about five minutes, re-rigging, getting things ready, taking in the sights. Then slowly troll in, motor on two, and start my route.
  24. That’s great news
