  1. In the summer I just get wet…..if it’s cooler I have a poncho. Fishing in a poncho is cumbersome for me, I end up kinda wrapping it around me and using a rope belt. They all seem so bulky and baggy. I need to get a set of rain gear.

Sending good vibes your way and my thought are with ya and your wife. get well soon
  3. I went on a crank bait kick this year, I was on a budget, so I bought off EBay. They had 5&6 bait lots, of spro, 6th sense, and others. The BPS brand have some decent baits, all I’ve gotten have run true right out the box. Between 10% of online Monday and my veteran discount they were very reasonably priced.
  4. Well my year was slow, I wanted to fish mostly crank baits this year. That didn’t work to good so as far as catching fish, one arm is bigger than the other from cranking so much, also I took a treble in my finger and lost some brand new lures. The plus side I did get some cool new tackle, square bills, med to deep drivers, some flat sided cranks, and an array of jerk baits. I even picked up a Krej….. I haven’t caught anything thing on about 80% of them, but they sure do look good when I open that Plano 3700 and ta-daaah!! ( and the crowd goes wild) I’m going back to my old way of fishing first of the year, I said I’d give it a year. Not giving up on cranks just not going fish them exclusively.
  5. Hi everyone, I got to thinking yesterday. I was casting lipless cranks off the dock, waiting on parts for my boat. I grabbed my Plano box with lipless and a rod, as I was casting out, I realized how many different ways to retrieve a rattle trap. You have the cast out and count before you start retrieving, to get to different depths. Steady retrieve, ie… slow, med, fast, or jerk, jerk crank while reeling in. I’ve let them sink to the bottom and yo-yo’d them in, with long up strokes with the rod, and take up the slack and let it sink again. It doesn’t end their ether, drag them on bottom, etc., etc. How do you fish a lipless crank? I want to kinda see what is the most effective way for the angler to fish them.
  6. Most of mine are Bill Lewis, and Booyah. I really like the one-knockers, I usually cast the one-knockers and troll for striper with the Bill Lewis.
  7. @Swamp Girl I couldn’t agree more… even the weather change your catch. Been fishing getting nothing, I felt the pressures drop like it was going to start raining. Wanted to stay outta of the wind. I fish back over the same spot, same bait, and started catching fish. Mysterious creatures indeed.
  8. Wow, @Ryan N, I have never gotten a jig bite here in Florida. Kudos to you!
  9. Very nice!
  10. Yep , just had to look…haha. Like me going by a yard sale and seeing rod tips sticking up. I know they are going to be a scobbydo or the ice princess combo but I got to stop. Although, I do by a-lot of my tackle from yard sales.
  11. Hello from the Sunshine State of Florida. Sending some good Mojo your way.
  12. Storms pop here so quickly, when I hear thunder in the distance, I’m looking at radar to see what’s going on. Where I fish a lot, the trees are tall and you can’t see any distance. You have keep an ear out for thunder. Our phones with the weather apps helps out a lot. It also helps having a net work of other anglers on the water, to give ya a “heads up.”
  13. Thanks for the videos @Glenn Where I live the fishing picks up just after Thanksgiving, the snow birds come down. But like you said, the pleasure boaters and jet skis are gone. So overall, the people on the water drops about 30%-40%.
  14. And this is why I buy $1.00 spinnerbaits and buzz baits from Walmart. I buy less expensive crank baits on Amazon or Aliexpress too. I just can’t afford to be losing expensive tackle and the plus side, I’ll take more chances with where I cast. I don’t think it has made me a better angler, just means I’ve lost more tackle.
  15. I don’t drop shot…. Never did any good for me anyway, don’t use Carolina rigs anymore ether.
  16. @N Florida Mike nice fish
  17. Oh nooooo there they alllll gooo go go Godzilla oh oh ooooohhhhh no go back and re-read while humming Blue Oyster Cult tune. haha
  18. @Swamp Girl you’ve got me thinking sounds and site. With our other conversation about your new boat and painting it. The fact you’re so stealthy going into a fishing area, has made re-think my fishing tactics when Hawg Hunting. I try to be quiet as humanly possible, turning off electronics, trolling motor up, pole in, etc Now you got me thinking about being seen, I do sit in the area to let my presence get accepted to the area. My boat is medium grey and I fish in stained water, so I think my boat is kinda camouflaged, but me walking around on deck and standing up push poling in. I probably look like Godzilla coming in, I just need to go ahead and make screeching sound he makes and I’d be all set.
  19. I usually fish them weightless, wacky or Texas rigged, skipping around docks. If the conditions call for it I’ll put a bullet weight to get it down to the bottom, if there is current.
  20. My condolences to family and all those close. My cousin’s husband got so excited after a kill, he unhooked and the just walked out of his stand. Broke leg, back and arm… still had his bow in hand, took one his arrows through the muscle back side of arm. I guess everything we do can be considered dangerous if you don’t pay attention.
  21. I understand where you’re coming from. I use all mono on all but two rigs, my dock and slop. The noise is too much.
  22. @Swamp Girl have you had it in the water yet? Your right spray paint is cheap, and I’d stand on my head and try to drink root beer, if it I thought it would get a double digit.
