  1. I never have did any good bass fish the C-rig. I get hung or I drag in wads of stuff, weeds or grass.
  2. I always have a Curley tail or senko style, tied on and laying on deck all year round here. Usually 7.5” BPS, Zoom, or Culprit. Color June Bug, Bubble gum, or various color of green… watermelon, green pumpkin, different flake colors… etc. Texas rigged

  4. Glad to here California is getting some rain. Some of by best fish has been just before or at the start of rain. After a few hours of it, the bite seem to slow down a bit.

  7. I live south of PALATKA a few miles buy the St Johns, and I’ve noticed the temps changing too.
  8. I have the BPS carbonlite 2.0, I really like that reel and rod, but with that being said,I did have to replace spool bearings that started to growl just over a year. But no problems since. But I went in BPS to buy a Lews reel and ended up buying a the carbonlite combo instead. My friend has the Lews I was going to buys and no problems. So I think you made the right choice.
  9. I have president xt limited edition 2020 that I really like. It is really smooth and solid reel. I bought a president at a yard sale for 5 bucks, he said he never put line on it, was a gift and he didn’t fish. I’ve been happy with it too haven’t fished it much, but seems solid too. I also bought a Shimano spinning reel from him, 5 bucks too, said that he would’ve sold me the rods too but he had closed the in the garage door and broke them. That’s the only experience with Pflueger and so far it’s been good.

  11. Totally agree.
  12. Yep they already have video game tournaments, with all the sports…fishing maybe next, I sure hope not.
  13. Have a friend that has one, he took out me out fishing. He wouldn’t even cast until he saw one on the screen. He just troller motored around looking down at screen. I think the Loch Ness monster could have rolled beside the boat he wouldn’t have noticed, unless it showed up on his screen. He looked like the kid you take to a ball game and he’s on his phone the whole time. I was able to fish the whole side of the boat, he literally fished the area on his screen. We used to fish, talk, crack jokes….this time, just slight hum of the trolling motor. He caught more than I did, and his cast to fish ratio definitely was better than mine. Would I get one if I could afford one?… Oh yeah, they are cool as heck. But, try my best not to turn into a monitor fisherman.
  14. You are right… I’d rather grab a chainsaw running wide open by the wrong end, than get between a mother and her young. Human mothers too!
  15. Yea…. I see them from time to time here. One came in my shop when I was kneeling down going thru a bucket of PVC fittings. I heard his nails clicking on the floor, I first thought was “ I need to trim my dogs toe nails again”….. “wait Buster past away over a year ago”. I turned, about two feet away I was face to face with a juvenile back bear. I stood up and I think the bear was like “oh crap a human is in here too”. He turned and heading for the door, big paws spinning on the floor. That bear had walked in the shop, gracefully, without any damage. Just clickity clickity his nail on the floor. He left total destruction in his wake when he left, the stools for my work bench went flying. That bear crashed into my tool box, ran over a tote breaking it, about ripped the door off it’s hinges that was partially open, which went full open after he hit it. He sent it crashing back into the building as he clipped the big trash can by the door take it outside with him, sending the contents all over. So yep we got bears here, it only took a few seconds for all this to happen. But back to the sound I heard , could’ve been a bear but had that low vibration growl you get from a bull gator. Amp that up to super loud and you have it.
  16. I’ve heard gators before, didn’t quite sound like one. It sounded kinda like a bear but way louder and deep and long.
  17. About 3 weeks ago, I left early morning still dark in the boat. I wanting to be up this creek off of St John’s River at daybreak. It was just light enough to see, had the trolling down, rods out on deck, creeping up the creek. I was sipping my coffee while eating a egg & cheese biscuit, when the a loudest bellow, growl, groaning I’ve ever heard came from the swamp next to me. I think I felt the vibration off the sound of it. Then birds that were roosting all flew off around the area. It got dead quiet. No noise, not a sound at all. I didn’t even want to chew my food, didn’t want to make noise and attract attention. I drifted for a while before putting my foot on the trolling motor pedal and moving on a few hundred yards more to start fishing. It was the weirdest sound I ever heard. It unnerved me and everything else around me too.
  18. My hats off to ya! I hope at 70 I can still do that.

  20. I had one curly tailed work left in a package, I put it with another brand very similar color…..watermelon pearl, trying to keep it neat. I was getting bites on the one, worm got ripped, so I changed. Bites stopped noticed I had put on that lone curly tail worm from the package, different brand. Color was slightly different, just a little bit darker. Switched back and started getting bites. Was it a fluke? Don’t know, but I think shades of color do matter. I think it’s hard to experiment with wild creatures on habits when there are so many variables involved. Weather , sunlight, water temperature, time of day, time of year, mating not mating, direction of wind, etc… I think it’s really difficult to get a baseline, one that is a hard chisel in stone facts. A slight change color, action of lure, change weather , in my opinion, can make the world of difference sometimes.
  21. Change in bait and change in weather. One time I fished all evening, looked like rain…. You know when you feel the temp drop. Five minutes after I felt the temp drop, I got a bite. Turned and fished the same area, with a same bait and started catching fish. Your right, don’t give up.
  22. I’ve checking that rig out, would you recommend it?
  23. I thought this was going to about something totally different…..( man….my mind must be in the gutter) But yes I lightly wipe with oil, heat it up a little, then shut it down. Strip it down every couple years and start over.
  24. Thanks for sharing that. I've got an autographed hat from him.
