  1. The ell grass and Lilly pads are scarce here on the north end of lake George. The fishing sure has been hurt because of it too. I go to the Ocklawaha and Bear creek to see any Lily pads. used to be able to work a fluke type bait around the mouth of salt run through the ell grass and catch bass, but now the ell grass is gone.

Anybody use or hear of the Mendota Rig? It’s made by C to C bait Co. The sell them at Tackle Warehouse and Lure parts online. I like the way the sinker is attached to the rig. It looks like the line would get in the way and the hooks backward. They have Videos on Tackle Warehouse. Tell me what you all think.
  3. I cast right handed… well,….because no one or nothing is safe if I cast left handed. Switching hands never quite right…. I can fish that way but it doesn’t feel natural. Once I tried a lefty bait caster, I never looked back. All my spinning rigs were all set up to crank left handed so why not my bait casters.
  4. Oh no get well soon
  5. Wow!! Get well soon

Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl
  7. I like BPS ribbon tail, garlic scent. zoom finesse culprit curly tail
  8. I spend time working on birds nest than I do fishing, if I try to skip a bait caster. I use a spinning rig, and I’m still not good at. My accuracy is for crap.
  9. Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl
  10. I keep a first aid kit on the boat., and truck. With enough stuff to stop severe bleeding on myself or somebody else.
  11. I use like to use stick or senko style worms, three favorite colors; green pumpkin, June bug & bubble gum. My pitching skills are the worst anybody’s seen, so I try and use a heavier rod and size 35 pflueger spinning reel, just slightly bigger. My accuracy is horrible trying to skip, so I stay away from people’s boats… I do docks and tree cover only.
  12. I going to try different techniques, I’ve been just T-rigging curly tails and senko for a while now. What to wacky rig the docks and fish heavy cover. Also fish new areas on the St Johns River… seems I just fish the same places, I know they produce bass, but they’re other places that have them too.
  13. I tried years ago, didn’t like it. I put it on an ultra lite, 4or 6 lbs, made noise when casting and when bringing back in. They probably have improved it since then.
  14. Hello from the Sunshine State of Fl
  15. Oh well 9* that’s so much warmer….Balmy 9 degrees? I’m not sure your allowed to use the word balmy to describe 9 degrees. Pretty sure it’s illegal or it should be. Haha all kidding aside, glad ya caught some fish today and glad your were wearing a vest when you went overboard in the winter. How cold was it?
  16. I fish with 2 baitcasters, 1 with braid- pitching & flipping the sloppy stuff. 1 for crank bait and top water. 2 spinning rigs, 1 for plastics and 1 spare( sometimes stuff breaks) I also have a ultralite rig, because …. Well….they’re just fun to fish with. So I carry 5, fish with 2-3 most of the time. I have more at home, but most of my gear come yard sales and I clean them and fix them.
  17. Probably and rod & reel already in there.
  18. Here in Fl we can fish all year long, so I never thought about staying in practice. But Really? ….I mean REALLY?? -2 …. My wife shakes her head when I go fishing in the rain, but -2 in a moving boat. I do like to fish….but -2. My hats off to ya -2???
  19. I switched brands one time, same ribbon tail and length, June bug…. They just quit biting.
  20. Wow!! That’s a metal tackle box isn’t?
  21. Tight lined, for the most part. I might pause for a millisecond or lower the rod tip an inch, then set the hook. Don’t ya hate going to set the hook and nothing there. It’s like picking up a empty bucket when you think it’s full, almost throwing over your head. Thinking there is a step up and stomping on level ground
  22. Yep, I don’t know how he does it. Most of my fishing some kind of plastics Rigged weedless.
  23. WHOA!!!…. Fishing just got complicated, and a little depressing if you look at the numbers like that. Do I get any points for just love being on the water?
  24. When Erma hit it did it’s number on the eel grass, but the FWC had it sprayed about 3 yrs after that really wiped it all out. Lilly pads, cattails, and eel grass. It even killed about 6” of grass in the yard, I don’t have a sea wall. What ever they sprayed was different than before, I was over 150’ away when they came thru, my eyes watered and my throat felt weird for about 15 minutes or so. Different kind of chemical I am assuming, never did that before, not that I make it a habit of being close proximity of them spraying. Hours later everything started changing color or wilting….. since then no more cattails, Lilly pads or eel grass.
