  1. I’m not as bad as I used too be. I’ve even been down sizing some…. No where near the minimalist level, trying to anyway.
  2. Didn’t somebody teach or tell you about fishing Cdn Angler? Most of were taught or shown by relatives or friends, maybe not to the degree we have gotten to now( or to the degree we think of ourselves as). If new people stop getting involved where would we be? What would you be doing if they stop new people from starting to fish……. if it was before you were born.
  3. Don’t ya like dealing with like minded people. I worked at a place where I had ask for 1/2 a day off on Friday to fish. Everything was right weather, wind, moon…the owner said I couldn’t go, unless I took him with me.
  4. My most productive this year was curly tailed worms, Texas rigged. June bug and green pumpkin, the old fateful colors.
  5. I like June bug over black blue, and I like okeechobee when I want in between June bug and green pumpkin. Just thought I’d throw that in.
  6. Catching 5 pound smallies, quarry seems healthy.

  8. Very nice….. what ya catch them on?
  9. Nice fish!!! What ya catch them on?
  10. It’s weird…. Yesterday, I was in my shop, saw my Dad’s fly rod gear on the top rack. I thought “I should get that down and give fly fishing another try”. Then I see this thread….. gotta be a sign. My Dad was what I consider a Master with a fly rod. He gave seminars, taught youth groups, and went to competitions. Me… I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe it was my age and attitude ( probably more attitude). It was so frustrating for me, always getting in a mess. Ether behind me or in front, a snag. I went to a ultra lite, while he fished for native trout with a fly rod, I did too with spinning rig. I have mellowed out over the years, so maybe I’ll try again.
  11. I was in a situation where I couldn’t leave the house for a awhile. I picked up a cheap combo at Walmart and practiced hitting targets in the backyard. I was getting pretty good with a spinning rig as far a short accuracy goes.
  12. I understand where your coming from….. a spinning reel should be call an orbital reel, the line retrieving devise orbits the fixed spool. The only time the spool actually moves in a overload situation.
  13. Good video. I used to jig fish for river smallies in Nc in the winter, it was tough going….. seemed like you had to put the bait right in front of them. You had to twitch the jig along the bottom real slow. I guess you had to pull it right in front of them before they’d take it.
  14. I bet….hooking a tarpon in a Jon boat was a ride and a half. I lived in Pinellas Park, which just north of St Pete from mid 80’s to early 2000. Used to fish bridges and seawalls all over the county. Moved around a bit, ended up in Nc, where I discovered small mouth fishing. Now back in Fl still chasing bass.
