  1. I use a MH rod, with straight retrieve and a twitch now and then. I’ve never used the yo yo style retrieve that papajoe222 said he used, I’m gonna try that next time. I have few Bill Lewis “ rattle traps” and I just bought two Boohya “one knockers” that I can’t wait to try.
  2. Probably sounds weird, but Plano for the boat. In the shop where I keep the extra stuff is a hodgepodge of what ever.
  3. N Florida Mike is right shiner work. 7 1/2” and 8” curly tailed worms work too, June bug and watermelon pearl works for me. Senko type worm, rigged Texas weightless, let it sink then pulled up to the surface and let sink again nice an slow, Bubble gum is my favorite for this. I like rattle traps too chrome black or blue back has worked too.
  4. That really really blows.
  5. Falling iguanas….. what’s next.
  6. Elkins45 I forgot to mention mind the weather, Lake George can get nasty quick. The wind plays a big factor on the lake, it is a pretty shallow as far as lakes go.
  7. Thanks everyone for their input, any more advice or input will be greatly appreciated. The bottom has a layer of decay matter on the sand, I think the bouncing off bottom and let it spiral down on slack line would work good. I’ll try all the ways everyone suggested on how to retrieve a tube.
  8. Thanks Glenn, Hadn’t seen this one, I watch your other video on tubes. A lot of ways to rig it, and work it.
  9. I live on the north end of the lake so it’s more my stomping grounds, but I’ve talked to few people and have done some exploring round there. I seen a lot of boats fishing the jetty coming out of the lake. People also fish the east side of the lake, pitching in the cypress, winner of one of the big tournaments got the biggest part of his catch there. Off pine island where the old targets used to be( it’s on a chart) a lot of debris there. I've always wanted to fish blue creek, looked promising, lots of Lilly pads. Blue creek is kinda cool too ….People have hung all kinds of different bird houses along the banks. Don’t know why. dwight-hottle ( member here) gave a fishing report for Deland Astor area back in December, might touch base with him. Hope this helps.
  10. Hi Everyone Got a question… but little background first. I have never fished a tube before, never even owed before, until a few days ago. I’m going with the stupid rig style. My question is what is the techniques that has been most productive for catching fish for you. I searched here on site and the web. So far I’ve got the yo yo technique, twitch in place, swim and jerk like a fluke and the finesse along the bottom or the pitch and flip method. I just want to try the one that every one has caught fish on the most. I will eventually fish them all, but would like start with the one that I’ll have better odds with.. I’ll be fishing the St Johns River and the Ocklawaha, so please let me know which one has worked better for you, or any other method. Thanks G
  11. That’s a great idea, and you can still see what you doing, or a least better that’s trying to work under a towel. Is that what’s happening…. I thought when I went to the floor looking for parts, somebody was switch my stools and work bench for higher ones and making them hard to get back up too.
  12. I do some thing like that. I same all my plastic, use what I can for trailers. Mostly it’s the end of a curly tailed worm. Then after they are trashed I save them and melt them down and I’ve got a couple open pour molds my friend gave me. And it starts all over again. I get some funky colors and I never really catch any thing off them, but it’s fun.
  13. I just received my order from Tackle Warehouse, ordered stupid tubes(3.7”) and gig heads. I got 4.0 hook gig head, they have a 3.0 that I wished I would have got in stead. The 4.0 work but 3.7” is about as small as I could go on tube size. I really like the tube colors they have. The Secret Lure website has kinda of a starter kit for stupid tube rigs. Bass pro has a tube jig called the goofy-E and the eye is turned the opposite way but still has a big hook. I have never fished a tube before, I’m ready to try it.

  16. I know what ya mean, some of the plastics have a strong chemical smell. The subject was brought up on the forum a little while back about attractants or scents between oil, petroleum based and water based. It got me thinking….
  17. Ok here is my 2 scents ( sorry for the pun, couldn’t resist) on the subject. Probably not worth 1 scent ( sorry again) Scents and flavors work in my opinion but are limited. Bass, from what I’ve read, are limited smellers ( if that’s a word). They don’t track smells like catfish or sharks, but if you entice them with movement, color , or flash reflection. It gets them close enough to smell it, which has to be really close. If the bass are being super finicky, this might be enough for them to take the bait in there mouth. But I also read that bass can take in and spit out a bait in a fraction of a second. Think it’s 1/4 to 1/2 of a second. That’s faster then most of us can react without having a visual to anticipate the bite. In my opinion that’s where flavors come in to effect. The flavor, salt, amino’s or, what ever the put in it, that makes their brain trick them selves into thinking it’s food, which makes them hold on longer. Which makes them transfer that up our lines, to the pole where “ WE”- the fisherman, hopefully set the hook. My theory is only my opinion from things I’ve read, and my friends and I have discussed around the fire or at spool parties. So don’t take any of this to the bank, it may not be worth 2 scents……sorry just one more.
  18. I didn’t, until I got my first buzz bait. It’s easier to keep it up on top with a 7:5 than 5. Now I try to Mach up ratio with what bait I’m using.
  19. Who come with theses name anyway? I mean some of them are unique to say the lease. I was looking at tubes the other and one was called “puke”. Actually it looked like something I would use, green and blue mix… close to okeechobe. ( another weird name … but it works.
  20. Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl I have learned a lot from this site.
  21. I placed an order a few days ago, checked on it a couple days later. They gave me two tracking numbers, ok kinda weird, order wasn’t that big. Checked tracking, one is on its way to Indiana. Sent an email to them, no response yet. I’m sure it will all work out. The way I look at …It’s not a heart or a kidney, no one’s going die if my stupid tubes (various colors)or my Booyah one knocker Tennessee blush show up later. Frustrating yes, life threatening no.

I found a video of them maybe it’s called something else
  23. I have mono on everything but two rigs, they have braid for fishing the ruff stuff. But….. I do have a small spool of floro for leaders if I think they are line shy. I’ve only had one time that looked like was going to be a skunk day. I put on a floro leader to braid and started catching fish. Maybe the bite just turned on too.
  24. Your right…. my miss spellings ..
