How long to you stick with a lure / technique before switching?
I usually fish t-rigged, so I’ll change colors after about 1/2 hour or so maybe longer. But I’ve usually have about three rigs on deck and ready. If I see a situation that looks good for a top water I’ll pick it up and work it for a while along a stretch of water, then go back to my T-rig. Same for the spinner bait rod and so forth. Plus it justifies the number of rod and reels I own . Hahaha

Trying to not lose my passion for the sport
Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl. I quit fishing for awhile, Dad died. I just went back to the basics, it’ll all come back. Good memories fishing with him even on days we didn’t catch anything.

Does Berkeley Big Game Mono work well on a baitcaster?
I use Berkeley Big Game 12lb on everything but two rigs, one is my dock rig and the the other is, what I call my “in the rough” rig both have Berkeley x9 50lb braid. I love the stuff.

Cheapest Baitcaster messing up
I started out with inexpensive gear to start, it would break sometimes, and sometimes it wouldn’t break. When it did, break I went got another one just like it, now I had one for parts too. The main thing was I was out there fishing. I totally agree to buy better gear, but at the time I just couldn’t afford it. And I wanted to fish. I buy middle of the road gear now and maintain it the best I can. But buying the cheap stuff taught me out to fix them and maintain them, and appreciate the better gear.

Punching weed mats.
https://shop.secretlures.com/ I just started using tubes not too long ago. These jig heads or ones like them have worked for me pretty well. Bass Pro sells them too. If you look around on the site the editorial videos on the way they rig them. hope this helps

Monofilament Storage
I’ve used line older than that before. I just spray the spool with line conditioner a couple of times before spooling it. I spray line conditioner as I’m spooling too. I figured, you never know how long the spool has set in the factory, the warehouse or, the store before I bought it.

Store brand lures that work better
I use their spinner and buzz baits too and, I don’t feel like I’ve got to go swimming to retrieve them if they get hung up. I have a BPS carbonlite combo, it’s the rig I use the most and I also have an 10+ year old BPS extreme baitcaster reel that is still working great. I did too, I like the garlic scent. I check their line up of plastics to try and find a comparable to name brand, just trying to save buck or two. I have a few BPS hard baits too. I’ve been real happy using Bass Pro items and even get most of my other tackle there too.

How Do YOU Find Fish?
Transition…… I look for transition in the currents that cause eddy’s or slack water. Transitions from heavy cover open water, like the edge of Lilly pads. The transition from shade to direct sunlight, work from shade to sunlight or parallel the shade line. The transition of depth ether shallow to deep or vise versus. The transition of the shore line, any changes that might give a bass a place to idle and ambush his food. I look for transitions. and hope I can get it figured out in 24 hrs.

That sickening crunch under your foot
I hate that sound……I leaned my against a barbecue grill down by the river, it must have fell over. I did hear it fall but, I did hear that undeniable crunch sound when by friend stepped on it. I feel for ya.

Do you fish the same place or new places more?
I mostly fish St John’s so technically I fish the same area all the time, but I’ve got a few places I fish on a regular basis. I almost always catch fish there, some ok size sometimes small ones. I even got a couple spots I kept going back to that, I’ve never caught anything. It’s that place where everything looks and feels like they should be hoards of bass just waiting to jump in your boat, but nothing, I still keep trying. I do fish different places on the river and try to explore. I really like fishing new places. Its alway a challenge, I don’t have any really good gear as far fish finders, just trying to read to shore looking for cover, or deep spots. Just getting out there is always good.

Where in Florida During June?
I live here in Fl, on the St. John’s river. I fish all year round, but…. I fish early morning or evening in June thur August. The bite, I find starts slowing down after 10:00am till after 2:00pm or later. I like fishing up or the mouth other river or creeks, Ocklawaha, Bear creek, or salt springs run. The water temp drops around the mouth even more up the creeks, and rivers. There is other creeks and stuff too in our area. I don’t know about Rodman in June. Don’t forget a lot of people know this too and it can get pretty crowded at times. I’ve pulled up to the mouth of the Ocklawaha and seen 10+ boats, all trying to fish the area around the mouth. I don’t know about places to rent or want your family and friends want to do other than fish. Hope this helps.

Boat Lift Question/Issues
I’ve been searching the internet on boat lifts, I do not own one but want to get one. from what I’ve read, straps aren’t the preferred way to lift a fiberglass boat for long periods of time, can cause stress cracks. Now with being said…. I know people that have their fiberglass boats in slings and tell me they don’t have any damage. They say cradles are better because the boat rest on the bottom like your trailer. And it’s my understanding the the bow is supposed to be higher the the stern so you can pull the plug and let it drain, if for what ever reason water gets in the boat it doesn’t get too heavy and break something. Not sure a foot and a half is needed, but a small pitch. Where I get fuel, they have cover slips and some people have lifts in them. One of boats didn’t pull his plug and a blowing rain and put water in the boat, it got heavy and header got pulled down. Did a number on the roof and trapped peoples boats in the slips. Again I don’t own a lift,( I’m going to get one) this is just what I’ve been reading, and what the guy pumping gas told me.

The Lone Fisherman
My Dad was who I fished with 99% of the time, but since he has passed away, I fish alone. Like geo g, I have the inflatable vest, wife knows what area I’m fishing. It’s not that I prefer too fish alone, it’s I haven’t found anybody I really click with while fishing. It’s hard to explain, you know you have friends, then you have fishing buddies. Friends…. You stop by, have a beer, have them over for barbecue, talk about everything…… but fishing. Fishing buddy…..you stop by have a beer. Have them over for cookout, talk about everything WHILE fishing.

What weather service do you use?
I use these too, But I call my wife the weather girl when I’m out on the water. She will text me with a simple “ check radar” and I know there is one heading my way. Here in Fl we get storms that just pop-up, go crazy, then disappear.
