  1. I use speed clips once in a while, if I know I’m going to to be changing a lot of hard bait out

Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl
  3. Never heard of it, until now. Thanks
  4. Roll over image to zoom in Super Lube-21030 Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease, 3 Oz. I know there is probably better out there but this works for me. The “super lube”, I use just enough to lube it, not drag it down. It cleans up easy to with acetone when I clean the bearings. The liquid bearing is what I use to oil anything that requires oil, pretty inexpensive and comes with the needle point oil tip. as far as bearings go , from what I understand is that many reels are un-rated bearings anyway. So an abec 5 bearing would be an improvement. You can get an abec 9 if you want I picked middle of the road., and went with abec7 . With me putting grease in them was probably an over kill but they are smooth & quiet. Some people on here use ceramic bears and run the dry… easy casting but too noisy for me ….BBBRrrrrrrr, every cast.
  5. Here is mu 2 cents…… probably not worth 1 cent. I replaced my stock bearings in one of my reels, because of a bearing failure on one of the spool bearings. It started making noise and feeling rough. After the first one I ended up changing them all. I went with abec7 stainless bearings, I use grease on my bearings…. I know …I know putting grease in abec 7 in redundant and going backwards, but man are they quiet. I got little more distance that I wanted, but I got rid of the noise. I am looking for quiet and smoothness, I want silence on retrieval. The down side to grease is it gets old and stiff and has to be cleaned then re-greased.
  6. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-05-09/bass-fishing-butch-brown is this the same article,
  7. I was using Bang, then switch to Bait Mate, thinking about Mega strike or bait fuel next. Does anybody store their soft bait in attractant or just before using that bait
  8. I use braid on my dock rig, tied direct. I know a lot of people don’t like to tied direct to the hook with braid but, I have less break offs this way. Might not get as many bites but the ones I do get I don’t loose as many
  9. Plastic worm rigged Texas style has caught more fish for me than all the other tackle I own.
  10. I totally agree, where is it?
  11. Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl I was born and raised in Wv, Jackson co. That’s were I learn to fish… trout fishing.
  12. Hi from the Sunshine State of Fl
  13. I like picking up gear and rebuilding it. Most come from yard sales and estate sales. When I do buy new it usually Bass Pro, middle of the road stuff.
  14. Very interesting, thanks for sharing that.
  15. Since we’re on the Kastking subject…. Anybody know anything about their telescopic casting rod? Going on a trip out west and was thinking about pairing the zephyr bait caster and the 6’8” telescopic casting rod.

  17. I want to get the Zephyr BFS Baitcaster, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. It’s really good to hear so much positive feedback on them.
  18. I’m currently using Berkeley x9 braid lo-vis green. I think I might try fins next time.
  19. I like fishing weedless wether it’s T-Rigged or having a weed guards, it lets me toss in places I would avoid otherwise. Gives me extra confidence when fishing. Does it make me miss strikes? It might, but I hate loosing gear, and retying a bunch of times a day because of getting hung up.
  20. I fish around cypresses, if there is a current, they will lie on the backside. I throw up current and let it drift around the side where they are wait to ambush my bait. Like T-Billy suggested 40-50 braid …. Be ready to set the hook
  21. Thank you dickenscpa ….. you gave me my first deep hearted laugh Ive had in a while, really, I needed it and after all that, you fished on. Both of you yaking off your yaks( sorry for the pun, couldn’t resist). Then getting hooked again, your rig caught in your drive, not to mention a snake in your boat. You were “put to the test” that day….. but you prevailed, and were rewarded a nice catch in the end. Thanks again for the story. G
  22. I just read this whole thread…..creel limit, bag limit, possession limit,……cooler, freezer, live well limit,….I have a headache now, I gonna lay down.
  23. Now that a pretty bold statement…….or crazy. I imagined 3 kids whipping their Barbie or Spider-Man poles around. I broke out in a cold sweat.
