How far can bass see?
First off, excellant sound track to the video. Sure looks as if bass have good eyesight in clear water. I actually thought this was swimbait demo at first. lol

How far can bass see?
That video was moved to the tackle section. Don't recall the title. That bass sure was chasing that trout around.

How far can bass see?
I have seen bass come from 20-30 yards in crystal clear waters to hit a buzzbait on the Brazos behind Whitney, not just once but about 20 times in a day repeatedly. Randall is correct also. Bass would be able to see better in the winter as opposed to other seasons. Water in the winter is more dense, dense in the sense that water in the winter could be the cleariest of all year due to particles not mixing in the dense water. Which takes us back to why tight wobbling cranks as opposed to wide billed wobbling baits aren't as effective in crystal clear waters during winter. I posted a video months back of a albino trout being thrown into a demo tank. That water was clear, don't know the exact length, but as soon as that white trout was thrown in, a bass from the other end went racing after it. Seems to me, that bass saw the trout, couldn't have heard it with the aeroator above its head, or the 50 other bass in between it and the trout to have zeroed in on that fish. Pure sight by the looks of the video.

Wish the Eagles would have won...
Talk about the Cowgirls being cry babies and cheaters. I guess you don't remember that the Steelers in the 70's were the biggest Roid users in the league. Guess thats why their whole starting offensive line has passed away so young in life. Cheaters LOL.

Bass do learn!!! they are smarter then you think Read this
A bass has to eat to survive. Thats instinct. If bass was to retain negative events, don't you think bass would learn to not spawn so shallow every year? Enviromental factors apply to lakes of size, clarity, bass populations, food sources and types of cover. It is said that only 10% of Lake Forks bass see a lure in a years time. Add in the newly spawned and stockings every year. To many fish to be schooled in my opinion on this 27000 acre lake with lay downs, matted hydrilla, lily pads, forests, and over 200 feeder creeks feeding in lined with the same types of cover. Now you look at Dixon, different lake, no active bass stocking program, less bass per acre compared to Fork. 76 acres that is deep and crystal clear. Two different scenerios. Lake Fayetteville is a power plant lake in Texas, 2400 acres. I have had numerous 30 fish days with grape white tailed worms each trip, to see 3-5 old hook sores in the majority of bass mouths. This lake is very stained. What I do know about being on a school of bass, after catching 3-4 bass off of piles with a crank, they turned off, switching to plastic started pulling them off the pile again. Any of you guys who fished for crappie have seen the samething. Catch a number of crappie on redhead white grub and they may turn off, change it up some and go back to catching. Come back the next day, same baits work. You shoot at a deer in a wheat field or around a feeder, they don't stop eating wheat or corn, they just don't feed in the day light or in the same part of the field, or they go to a differnt feeder. they change up their habits. Its instinct for all of us to eat to survive. We condition ourselves, less salt, less fast foods, more veggies, but we still eat. So do bass. Don't make us smarter, just selective.

Stren Series on Falcon Day 1
Falcon shows no sign of slowing down. 39.01 is leading the proside with 4 sacks over 30. 34.03 is leading the Co angler side with 4 sacks over 30 as well. If you were ever thinking of making a trip to Texas, put Falcon on your list. Hit her while she's hot.

The National Championship
Texas lost their right when they slipped in Lubbock. But Texas does have a gripe. Based on the same kinda schedule LSU laid claim to a title with two losses. Texas played Rice, who won at least 9 games and won its Bowl game. Texas Played Florida Atlantic who won 8 games at least and its Bowl game. Texas Played the great SEC, known for defense and hung 50 on Arkansas. Texas Played UTEP who was 5-7, who had played 8 teams on their schedule who went Bowling this year. Not one college can boast they played 4 top ten teams in a row, plus Kansas was ranked to make 5 ranked teams in a row. Texas held the Sooners offense to 35, well below their record setting year. We beat the north and south champs in the big XII. The Ohio State game isn't pretty, but we did what champs do in the final drive. We won. Texas beat OU head to head. 12-1 Texas and Mack Brown had second stringers in every game in hand, they didn't run up the style points. Classy move. Fisher of men always put Texas down, but I wonder if he respects us for not running the score up on the Aggies for style points. Hookem and Go Big XII Go Big XII

Ray Roberts Lake slot limit
BASS will be there as soon as the slot is dropped. It should take the century mark to win on this lake. The slot really keeps the lid on this lake.

Lake Fork Trip - Good Guides? Is it worth it?
If you haven't booked a date for March by now, you may be getting the left overs on guides. Not saying you won't get a good trip or good guide. But............... Reputable guides for the spawn are normally booked well in advance of 6 months. Tom has been asked for those dates on this forum before a few times and always responded, he's been booked for along time. A majority of early bookings are repeat customers. The thing about Spring and Texas is, the weather changes daily with fronts and rain storms moving and passing weekly. Timing is in mother natures hands. Good luck, she's a jewel.

Oklahoma vs Florida
OU averaged 44 points a game last year and how did that work out against West Virginia. 48-28 loss. They averaged 48 points a game when they lost to KSU in the Big XII championship game 35-7 and how did that work out against LSU? Fact is, TExas beat them 45-35 and held them under that record setting average of 54 points as well. Does Texas have a beef? Well, Florida lost to unranked team at home. Texas lost to top 10 team on the road after 3 consecutive wins against top 10 teams. No other top 10 team had a schedule that tough.

My thoughts on hook sets and pegged unpegged weights
Since the late 70's, I have tried all types of hooks. Tru-turns, EWG's, offsets, and others. What I have found is the straight shank has always worked. I'm like Catt, if it isn't broke, don't try to fix it. Straight shanked hooks still get the job done. 90% of the time, I paint my own bullets. I love seeing teeth marks on my bullets. Lets me know they are eating the bait real good. I do belive there is a time to peg sinkers. But for all applications, I wouldn't have the confidence in doing that.

BCS: Bull Crap System!
Tech was still in the game early in the 4th quarter. Some have said, "Stoops ran up the score". I would have to disagree with that statement reguarding the Tech game, now some ohter games, yes.. First off, Leach gave OU a short field twice when he went for it on fourth down. Bad coaching. Also, OU intercepted a 2 to 3 passes that were returned inside the five yardline. Long run backs. Demarco Murray has some long Kick Off returns as well. Bad coaching, costly turnovers and poor specail teams gave OU short field to work with most of the night.

BCS: Bull Crap System!
If the Big XII had the SEC tie breaker rules in place, the lowest seed being Tech is eliminated and then head to head play comes into effect, which would be Texas. Those rules apply in other conferences as well. Everybody mentioned the point differentials in scoring, but Texas held all the top ten teams they played below their season totals. I have stated many times before, can you pick 8 teams for playoffs this year without leaving someone out? Somebody's feelings gonna get hurt. Same problem, just a different format. I would like the current system to put less emphasis on blowing teams out. While OU did run the score up on a few teams, MacK Brown was playing second teamers in alot of 4th quarters. The BCS is 1/3 computers, 1/3 Harris poll human vote, 1/3 coaches poll. Either OU or Texas is deserving, if conference play was the only factor looked at in conference play, Texas was the best team. Since BCS looks at the whole schedule, TCU and Cincy was enought to put them over the top due to non conference SOS. Still love college football. Hookem

Big Twelve
If the Big XII had SEC tie breakers, then Texas would be playing the conference championship. Sec takes lowest ranked team out and then goes head to head for three way ties. So by SEC tie breakers, Tech would be out, and Texas wins on head to head. But, OU got the vote, so against MIzzou, I gotta pull for the Tigers. Don't forget that OU laid a goose egg a few year back against KSU in the Big XII title game. So its not over for the horns. If OU does win, I just hope they don't choke again. 1-4 in last BCS bowls does not reflect well upon the Big XII. Go Big XII and Hookem Horns.

Weiss Out at Notre Dame?
I read on the computer today that his buyout is based on his basic salary and his buyout would be around 4.5 million. Thats per year, and his contract guaranteed him his money, and how long was that contract extension for? 2015. times 4.5 mil per year? Its not like they don't have the money to buy him out, but in todays economy, thats alot of money even for Nortre Dame. Charlie won't leave ND will less than 15 mil.
-
Weiss Out at Notre Dame?
A buy out of his contract would cost them 20 million in doing so. Notre Dame is premier job and the price tag it will cost them to get another big time program coach will cost them again. His best year was with Ty's recruited players by the way. Which was the first year in South Bend.
