A question about fall
You know, diesecting a tree, a peice of brush or a laydown is still a lay down in any part of the country. So how does advice from the south on picking a laydown apart differ from the north on his initial question? Has cabin fever already set in with you R.I. guys. Ya'll been real testy lately.

A question about fall
Simp, simple question based on his answers, I'm very aware that the conditions are different all around the country. If I fished a bunch of laydowns, I'm gonna pick them apart, I'm gonna look for some other fish attractors and leave the timber alone if no takers. How do you know they are holding on laydowns? You fished a bunch already with no luck. Or is this hypythetical question?

A suggestion regarding posts and answers.....
How does one know the age of a person without judging them to do so? I couldn't tell you if the person who started this post is a teenager or mature adult. No offense to the orginal poster. As much detail as possible has always been asked if seeking advice on what, where, and when and why questions.

BCS National Championship
If Tech plays OU the way Texas did, then OU will go down. As many have noted, OU's middle is soft. I also see OSU/OU being great showdown in Norman. I think Florida is playing some great ball in the SEC right now. Although I don't think Conference championships add into the BCS computers, I wouldn't want to play Mizzou, I still think they are dangerous and can play spoiler. Tech and the SEC works for me. I'd rather it be my horns, but Tech has earned that vote from me at the time. Go Big XII

Brock Lesnar Fight
I hate PPV fights that don't last. One thing for sure. This new style of cage fighting has made boxing take a back seat. I loved boxing in the hayday, but compared to the ocatgon, boxing has taken a back seat.

Brock Lesnar Fight
I just hope its a good fight. I'd don't want either to go down to quick if you know what I mean.

Glenn must have been close to a big city, rabbit ears did very little for us. Our Dad sent us out to turn the aerial on the house to get that third channel to come in better.

A question about fall
Why do you assume the bass to be holding on laydowns? You haven't caught anything, yet have fished a bunch of them, so why have you concluded that they are holding on laydowns at this time of the year?

BCS National Championship
If OU beats TT and OSU, then they would have the late season jump due to SOS. Texas played four consecutive top tens in a row. They needed a late season game to mean something to hang on. It looks as though OU or Tech has the best shot at making it out of the Big XII based on upcoming games. Don't over look Mizzou in getting revenge in the Big XII title game either. They are dangerous as any team out there. I'm not so sure OU's defense can stop Tech. OU can score with the best of them, but has shown they aren't consistent on defense. Tech's defense has shown they can stop you at times. I'd say Florida is playing better than anyone in the SEC right now. How does South Carolina at 7-3 get ranked again? So Florida can look better in SOS? TCU got beat by OU and Utah, both highly ranked and can't even be ranked above South Carolina, and I'm sure there are better than TCU that deserved to be ahead of SC. But???? How does Michigan State rank above LSU?

Tin, First off, kids fishing with the pros orginated in the Federation, not with BASS, The Federation started that. So they are back to where it was first started, in the Federations. They elected to pull out. Or have you for got that? As for sponsor goodie bags, my goodie bag more than paid for the event I fished this year, by the way, StrikeKings goodies alone was more than 100 bucks and no crappy Tshirts or hats. Nothing but jigheads, Red Eye shads, Rage tails, KingKong swimbaits, and cranks. Just so happens, I won alittle over 1500 that weekend with their product. One thing I didn't mention was, this marshall program doesn't appeal to me. How much did it cost to go to a BASS class? I would think paying 100 bucks and sitting in the guys office (his boat) for three days would be as equal to or better than sitting in some hard chair listening to lectures and speakers . JMO on which I'd rather spend my money on if I looked at it that way? You could spend 300 bucks for a guides instructional trip if that floats your boat or be in a pros office for 3 days. Tin, does that mean you think pros like KVD, and alike are pathetic, afterall, they support this joke of an operation you speak of. Is it pathetic that some kids pipedream is to fish BASS someday and his Dad wanted to give him some BASS apparell or that pethetic Tshirt that KVD, Clunn, Jones signed that weekend? Three classic champs autographs would make a great present to my grandson in my book, and I don't care if you see that as laughable. No other sport has amatuers competing at the same time, why should this sport be any different? I see lots of pros and cons as to being an observor, but until the season is upon us, I'll wait to see before I judge.

How many new SEC
Tide needs to be thankful that LSU doesn't have seasoned QB, Come on Tigers. Overtime. Penn State went down, can we get the No. 1 to fall as well.

Elite Marshalls
I can't believe that no one mentioned, that for that 100 bucks, you get official BASS apparel free, sponsor goodiebags, and have passes to all meetings, and diners. I looked at this two ways. One, if I was to follow a few pros for the weekend in my boat, i'm gonna burn up my own gas. Well over the 100 bucks. Two, I get to meet the pros, get BASS tournament apparel, sponsor goodie bags, and dine each evening with the pros, I can't see how it would be bad experience.

How many new SEC
LSU is playing with some intensity. Go Tigers

Does tournament angling make you a better angler?
99% of all the tournaments I have fished taught me very little from the competition. The guys I fish against are highly competitive, and are what you call "tight lipped". Having a great partner may teach you alot, but the competition rarely will. I have buddies who can flat out stick some fish, but they can't find them on their own very often. To answer Catt's question. It only adds to the time on the water and that don't make you successfull if you can't process info and make adjustments throughout the day. Hands down, this forum shares more info than any other forum that I have been on. Time on the water, and learning to apply what you learn here can make you a better fishermen.

First woman, ever, to fish the Bassmasters Classic
If allowing one female AOY from the WBT to fish the Classic helps create more sponsors for women, or helps build the sport up on the WBT, I'm all for it. Go Kim, kick some bass.

Why I will shop at Sears/Kmart this season
Muddy, Its very refreshing to see a feel good stories once in awhile. What really makes Sears standout is. with today's falling economy, Sears could have easily saved a nickle by simpling suspending those benefits since the employee is covered 100% in the military. Sears has always had good products as well.

How many new SEC
fans do we have for next week? Alabama vs LSU To my dear friend, Tommy, aka Catt, I just wanted you to know, that the Bayou Bengal Tigers just became Americas most beloved college football team. The fate of the Big XII, Big 10, Pac 10 rest upon LSU's shoulders. You can bet, I'll be pulling for the Tigers next week. Good Luck Catt, Man, I love college football.

holy texas game
Hookemdown, I didn't think Texas deserved to leap frog over everyone, I said if they beat Mizzou, OSU, and Tech, then they would have gotten there in the end result by winning. Same applies to Tech. Their only real test thus far was a good KU team. Tech under Leach, has displayed numerous seasons similar in the past. They were due to beat UT one of these years. They earned that one last night. Tech will march to the top if they continue to add to their resume. Beating OSU and OU will earn them the south crown and a shot at the Big XII crown. Something they have never done before. Texas' biggest mistake beat them in the end. Colt should have went down inside the ten with a couple of minutes to play after getting the first down, instead, he ran out of bounds, stopping the clock. UT left too much time on the clock. A simple mistake in my book cost UT the game in the end.

holy texas game
Congrats to the Techies. Their defensive line won that game in the first half. They did what Zero U, Mizzou, and OSU didn't do. Dominate the line of scrimage on both sides of the ball in the first half. Texas was the real first test of Tech's season. I will be watching Oklahoma State and Tech next week. That one is gonna be a barn burner as well. Harrell and Crabtree should be playing on Sunday someday. Guns Up for Tech. They earned that one. Hookem

Beneficial article on an oftenly overlooked method...
Different strokes for different folks, as long as you fish legally, I'm all for everyone getting fresh air. Those mom and pop shops need someone to buy some worms too! Here shortly, my grandson will learn the fine art of using wigglers and a bobber. I do believe it was worms and cane pole that got me where i'm at today.

Finding bass in Falling Water Temps
I'm not familar with bait and such in your neck of the woods. But bass still have to eat. In my neck of the woods, bass are just now starting to feed heavy to gain some fat for the winter. Primary source is shad. Knowing what the seasonal migrational habits of the shad are key on locating bass, they won't be far from thier primary winter food source. What type of bass? Spots can go 40, 50 or even deeper in winter. They love rocky ledges and such. This time of the year, where you find one bass, your likely to find a school. I would cover lots of water with moving baits that ressemble their primary food source. Once you locate one, slow down and probe that area. One more suggestion, if you have tried the same techniques, change it up. If you always do the same thing, you'll most likely get the same results. Good graphs pay dividends at this time of the year when fish go deep, if they haven't gone deep, they may be in the back of a creek or up sunning shallow late in the day. Also, bass will seek the warmiest water available, and if thats shallow, or in the back of a creek, probe those areas. Hope that helps. When bass go deep, spoons can be a great way to get down there.
