  1. The Pats were lucky that the sidelines called a time out when that play had failed on fourth down. In essence, they got a do over. It had nothing to do with what the Pats did, it was based on what the ohter team did. What else do you call it? A planned time out? Okay, a lucky do over!!!! I don't call any college that has a big time recruiting program lucky when they have consistently been winning for years. Some plays have luck, some have skill, so, to take the luck out of the equation, how about looking to the school history or results in the past 5 years. Does that college have a habit of winning 9-10 games every season, then I say luck is an investment that pays dividends sometimes. Just like New England. Luck is taken out of the equation because of preperation and prior success. What NE did was not created by any Patriots or coaches. The luck came from Baltimores misfortune. The only thing the Pats did was take advantage of the second chance they were given, what all good teams do.
  2. A nice V6 will handle that weight all day long. One of the biggest factors on pulling a boat out is not to over rev the engine. slowly apply gas on auto transmissions. On standards, keep parking brake engaged while putting into gear and easing off the clutch and e brake at the same time prevents slippage.
  3. That game was over on fourth down when the Ravens stopped them, and the Timeout from the Sidelines showed up and cancelled the play. no time out, game over on downs. Consider the win lucky. No timeout, no first down, ball goes over on down to the Ravens game over after two successful snaps.
  4. Dan, news papers and such don't always have the luxury and such to put a list of 119 colleges. If you look at most polls on the bottom of the polls, they will also say, " also receiving votes was...... #29 aTm, and Texas a&m was added cause we are from Texas, and people want to know where ther team showed up at. I don't see all the Time that is shows me South Carolina was at #28 cause we don't care in Texas, the majority don't care were USC is ranked. I bet a newspaper in SC does. Matt
  5. http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare.htm I think these might help some Dan.
  6. Muddy, stitching is an excellant pattern to use when tossing a swimbait. good call on that one! Even if your wife told it to ya. LOL
  7. I like the keg. Ryan, hasn't been any more other forum bullies stopping in and calling photoshop on ya have they? Talk about a forum looking like a bee hive gone rouge on some one, we swarmed that dude. Chased him all the way back to his forum. Nice Hawg!!!

I want all the little colleges that get no respect to whoop up on the bigger programs. Its the only way to get throught the BCS BS. I don't think Playoffs solve anything. Can you honestly say that the right 8 teams would be selected for playoffs. Just imagine the number of teams that will be screaming when they are left out of the playoffs!!!!! Did the playoffs solve the problem. I think not, you still have teams looking in wondering how the heck Kansas got the Orange Bowl bid when Mizzou beat them, and Mizzous only lost was to OU, twice. Mizzou thinks they got robbed. OU thinks they got robbed. becaue they beat Number one last week but didn't move up in BCS Points on nuetral field. What >.919 and don't move up with win. Howed that work? How did an idle team gain any points? I think teams just need to play better non conference teams to show how good they are outside of their conference. We see SEC as tough, and within, they are tough, but the only measuring stick, a true one at that, is to play better non conference opponents. Did Lsu play VT? VT, when they played LSU was not that good with that QB under center. I think VT changed QB's and became much better offensive team. Who did OSU play non conferenced. OH!!!!! They beat the team that got beat by Applachain State. OSU played who Akron? and another cream puff on top of that. Wow, I'm impressed, anybody wonder if LSU whoops them again like Florida did last year? Has the same makings going into the game as last year, except OSU played UT with new fr. QB and didn't play Wisconsin last year. Other than that, same training went into the same team, just new QB there also. WEll see!!!
  10. I don't need no stinking rankings to see whos a competitive team. Just like the fighting Illini at 9-3. They are very competitive team. Whether Texas is top twenty program or not this year, they are competitve team you don't take lightly. Miss. ST. this year was not ranked team, but they brought it every Sat. and if they were out manned so be it, they still brought it. And some weeks, they surprised some teams. We don't always see that from the lower SEC teams, but this year, you don't need a ranking to say MSU brought it.
  11. You want to get a 15 foot crank to 20 feet. Remove the bellie hook, yes your odds just shrank, but you increased your odds by getting a swimming bait down someplace you couldn't go before. This is why STorms swimbaits became so popular for me. Has lead head that sinks to where you want. Replace the hook with a bell sinker, if you use a DD 22, use a half ounce bell sinker attatched to the bellie with split rig on most. You will scrap bottom on some depths you never reached with typical baits. I can promise you that I can put some big bass in the boat with this trick.
  12. Granted, there are some good floating baits out there, but some craws I like don't float, so I like to break toothpicks into 1/3's and push tooth pick up each pincher on the craw. Do them in the sink and look how it raises the craws off bottom into defensive posture. Some picks are more bouyant, so experiement. Study premium cranks. Most detailed cranks have some red gill flash on the sides. The cheaper ones that don't, you can take red fine tip sharpie and add the gill flash on the sides as such ). I spray paint all my bullets to match worm colors. Why throw a green worm with lead color or black bullet. Go natural with green head to match the worm. I carry green, black, reds, browns, in assortments of weights. I even will garlic marker my specialty hooks that have lead on them. Such as fluke hooks with 1/8 of weight, I'll camo that lead also. Don't be aftraid to throw old school lures. Its something the bass haven't seen in along time. Old hellbenders!!!!! I still use the orange Bomber with success. I like to throw Cotton Cordells hot spot on days I might be trailing another boat that is throwing traps and such in front of me. I like to throw the Pico Perch just like you do the trap, its an old style lipless that works for vertical fishing, but I also like to rip that bait like a trap in shallow. What a change of pace for traps. Very effective. BB's will eventuall fall out if you don't hot glue them in. again, make your adjustments and put them in a sink to see the balance and keep adjusting till you like the results. I like to use soldering wire. Very soft, can be broken by hand. I like to pull the double hook out of a frogs back and wrap some on the shank of the hook. This gives the bait some weight. I use the weight because when sitting on grass mats, the weight helps give off some depression waves under neath. Weight helps disturb the grass some on thicker mates that aids in locating the bait. Got some others, but will wait till that season is upon us. Matt
  13. Whats up with the OU hat? My eyes were blinded. LOL What did you catch the 14 lber on? Sounds like you already have a good bait. Welcome to the forum, hard to beat that jig for slow winter presentations.
  14. I'm not so sure being in the ball park with Blacks,,Browns, purplish, Green pumpkins and colors is as important as just having one tied on. I have seen browns with organe tipped claw trailers work great to black/blue the old reliable standard. One of the best cold water baits there are for quality.

No brainer baits, tie on and chunk em!!!! I like the firetiger and orangish/red traps till spring. I have numerous bass up to 8 lbs on traps. I do like the Yozuri' Vibes also.

If Hawaii even hangs with Georgia for a quarter, it would be a hit on the SEC's greatness. No way Georgia should allow Hawaii to be in the game. GO Warriors!!!
  17. History shows that teams that went deep with un-defeated seasons got beat by average teams. I never realized that. 6-5 teams on average are what beat the all the undefeated teams in the past. I know we always look for winning teams on the schedule to see when they have a chance to lose is.
  18. If anyone hasn't figured it out yet, the "L" in LSU stands for LUCKY L stands for Loaded with studs. Thats what Elite Teams can do. Just like Florida reloaded after NC, just like OSU did after they lost 10 defensive starters, and they made the NC game. Its called depth, and most Elite teams have achieved it through great recruiting classes every year. Recruiting keeps programs elite!!! Athletes and coaching wins games.
  19. Understand the seasonal movements. Watch the wind 3-5 days in advance. Wind positions the planktons, plankton positions the bait/shad. In Dec. Grass dies back some. I watch the coots/mud hens, they tell you were the greeniest grass is. Simple, I'm looking for big bass in the edges of hydrilla with a big jig with phat pork trailor. Specially the wind blown grass. For numbers, take a trap on the wind blown grass tops and run a red trap over the grass. Dec, I don't expect numbers, so understanding the situation, I know quality is on the rise, and percentage of another double digit goes up with this approach. #1 slow jigging. On days bass are off bottom, spoons, dd-22, swimbaits. Big bladed spinnerbaits slow rolled, 8 in Tx lizzards can produce their share of hawgs. Oh yeah, launch at the dam and look for the 50 boats crappie fishing with in 100 yard stretch in 40 ft of water also. You know what depth the bait is at. And that will tell you the depth on the deep fish. Humps , creek channels, points, ledges, breaklines and such. Which fish do you target? Shallow or deep. Fork in Jan and Feb is my favorite time of the year.
  20. in 1960, minnesota golphers had two losses but claimed the AP title, the only team that I can find that ever had more than one loss and win it. By the way, minn. lost in the Rose Bowl to Washington and still got the AP vote. Go figure that one out. They lost the game and still was voted 'AP champs. i'm not so sure we need a champion this year. Kinda seems like a number of teams could play for the title. Matt
  21. In the late 80's Sandy DeFresco caught a 21 pound 10 ounce bass. When the bass was cut open, a 2lb diving weight was found inside the bass. Contrart to what some articles have said, i read the biologist report a few weeks after it happened. I was living in San Diego during that time. The weight had growth on it. The biologist said no way this could have been done intentionally. What the acids have done and the growth on the lead while being inside the stomach was enough to show it wasn't done on purpose. And witnesses say they saw her catch the bass legally. On a sad note, it was speculated on the onset, that her husband did it as a joke about zimerlee's bass. By the way, Sandy worked the concession at Miramar lake back then, so who knows. either way, it was a toad with out the weight.
  22. I fished FAyette County in Texas, talk about some sore mouthed fish, every other fish had a hook spot or two already in their mouths froming being caught recently. Thats a lake, that if you caught 20 fish in ther in 97, you had an 5 pound average. A few years later, if you caught 20, most were some nice 6 pounders. I haven't been since leaving Central Texas, but was always on the list for a few trips a year back then.
  23. The skateboarder at the X games that fell on his back/side from 50 feet up was pretty scarey looking earlier this year. great pictures, I captured alot of weapons shots in the Navy. Took me 13 years to finally get a projectile coming from our 5"/54 gun mounts. I got smoke and everything else for years and finally captured the projecttile coming out of the smoke.
  24. Batman had a side Kick. Then again so did the Lone Ranger, he was my super hero of those days.
  25. As a guy, I'm guilty for looking at other ladies all the time. We aren't as sly as we think. I hope I'v e done it with class if there is such a thing. Never had a confrontation over it. I didn't read any poster other than the opening. If a guy says he never looks at another women, he is either very gay or close to it, or a liar in my opinion. Women are no saints either.
