  1. Well guys, I got a new rod back today(looks like a different one anyway). Kind a thought there might be a note or something saying sorry for the trouble, but oh well. Got a new rod and was taken care of pretty quickly. Now I'm just a little gunshy of tightning the reel down. Guess I'll just ease it down just over "snug"...
  2. Hey guys, I've already picked up a cuardo, but I'm curious. Is there much of a difference for pitchin/flippin between these 2 reels? I had a revo sx, but I thought a centrifugal brake system may be a little better for this. Anyway, anyone tried both for this that can tell a difference? Opinions on supertune/bearing upgrades that would be beneficial for this technique?
  3. In that price range "new", I'd say the veritas or powell for just a tad more(sometimes on sale though), and I'd have to add the Lamiglass excel series. They don't get much attention, but they are a light and sensitive rod. I got a Powell for Christmas, and am very impressed with it from handling it(no fishing), it seems to be very sensitive.
  4. That will pretty much have your better quality baits taken care of. Everyone will have their own preferences, but you won't go wrong with that list. Good job, RW...
  5. I had a couple things(baits) that were messed up when I got my order. Called TW, they sent out replacements (good service), but they also included a paid return shipping label. Now thats some great service. TW= Very happy customers.
  6. Mono. I'm surprised by how many fluro responses there are. All the shows and pro's Ive heard discuss this also say mono (braid on some situations).
  7. At this time I have plans to be there.
  8. I've had a couple Pro-Q's going on my third season, and have had no issues with them. I think their the best $120.00 and under reel out there.
  9. Saw this in the new master catalog. What do you guys think about this new dual centrifugal brake system? Think it's some kind of gimmick, or is it something that's going to be picked up by the other company's for dual braking? BPS has done a good job with their reels of late. It seems like a foolish thing to introduce a reel in the Pro-Q category and it be a gimmick. Good way to run down a well deserved reputation for quality.
  10. I'm not a big GLoomis guy anyway, and this aint selling me. I'll probably stay with St. Croix and Dobyns for high end rods. I did take it out and throw a jig in a mud bottom pond, and I hope this thing comes alive when I hit the big water. I know it's a good rod, but so far I believe their is equal or better out there for less.
  11. OK, I bought one of these gold sticks from that ohya site on sale. Got it today, started putting a reel on it and while tightening down the cork cracked on the knob. Very disappointed with that, and worries me about happening again. Called GLoomis, and they said send it in and they handle it. Not using the wildcard deal either. Just worries me a little if it happens on down the road, and have to use the wildcard for such a trivial thing. OH, and I didn't tighten it no more than I do on my other rods either. Anyone else had this happen? my 1st big money rod experience. :
  12. If they do, I don't think it's enough for most people to tell the difference. Bass??? Even painted though, they are still far more sensitive than lead.
  13. Best advice on reels. Under $120.00, go with the PRO-Q. Honestly, it is a great reel. I have several higher priced reels(stx, curado) and the Pro-Q is "pretty" close to those. For the money, it can't be beat.
  14. Anybody got that number, the site is blocked here at work. >

What size do you guys have better luck with generally?
  16. I have a few revos, and for the money. Get the Pro-Q. I don't plan to sell mine, they preform great. Durability, can't say much about that. I have had a couple of mine for 2 seasons now, and have had no trouble. Just clean and lube like other reels and I think they will be good for years. I have asked a couple reel service guys, and they say they well made reels except for the drag system. upgrade that with a carbontex and they say it's a fine set-up.
  17. I guess I'm a revo fan. I have a 10 premier, stx,sx, 09 stx, and sx and a curado e5. The sx's are my least favorite(not that their bad), the stx does throw light baits really well. I think for the money, the 10 stx or a 09 stx is the best reel(in the $150.00-200.00 range). I cant say that I can tell a big difference between the premier and stx, with that said. I don't use them for the same technique so I can't honestly compare them.
  18. I think the general rule of thumb, is the best you can afford, or convince yourself to spend. Costa Del Mar, Oakley, Maui Jims, Wiley X on the low side.
  19. Wow, did not know I was messing with nitro... ;D Just got some of this, so I hope it's as good as everyone says for the little bit of trouble it is. I'll have to go out and set up a jj "care package" now. Thanks for mentioning this though guys. I'd been a yellow stinkbug this summer.
