  1. Does anyone know which CarbonTex drags fit a BPS pro-qualifier. I called carbontex, and they didn't have a reference for it. Said they could match it if I gave them the size, but they believed it was the same as a Abu revo. Just wondering if anyone already went though this?
  2. Hey guys, How does the powell rods rate in their power ratings. (was that confusing?) OK, the abu's veritas seem a little stiffer than they rate them, Lamiglass excel maybe slightly under what their rated. So how does the powell's rate? (was that better) I already bought a rod, aint got here yet. Now I'm curious about that. I got the 682cef for jerkbaits and flukes, wondering would the 683cef be better?
  3. I got my room sat. for sunday and monday. I'll fish and hangout wed, but I'll have to head back to work thurs.
  4. I can't stay the whole week, when is more happening? The beginning or end of the week?
  5. I'm going to need to send in some of my reels, and I wanted to ask a couple questions. 1. reels come with some greese on some areas right, and ya'll usually relube with just oil? 2. With just oil, will I need to relube more often with oil during the season, and will my oil(reel butter) work fine with other oils? 3. Anything else relevant to this I need to know?
  6. I thought I seen some Bass resource stickers somewhere, but I can't find them. Is there some, or did I imagine that?

  9. Fantastic, I got knocked out of last years trip, but this is in my backdoor, so I'll definately make it a couple days this time. I've never fished the Ky area past ginger bay, so I guess I'll find new waters at this trip.....
  10. For that price range, I'd without a doubt go with the Pro-Q. I have has a couple for 2 seasons now, that have given me no trouble what-so-ever. It casts light baits very well, and heavy baits well too. The dual control works great. As, far as ratios go. If your going to do more 10' under crankin get the 6.4, if your going to use it quite a bit for 10' and over get the 5.2. It's a fantastic reel, you won't be disappointed. Also, I think it's still on sale for 69.99 from the Christmas sale catalog.
  11. That quantum KVD 7'10" rod would be right at your price point. I don't have one, but I know a few that do that say they like it very well. For a glass compostirod it is pretty light.
  12. Ok guys, I was told by 2 different shops (that a were dobyns dealers) that they quit carring dobyns rods due to having a above average number of rods break within 3 months of purchase, and having customers complaining about paying $60.00 for a replacement. Has anyone had issues with a dobyns rod breaking shortly after purchase. I was suprised to hear this. I have been looking into getting a crankin rod, which is what got me into the conversation. Then told by one of the stores that their crankin rods were too stiff. Also opposite of what I have read online.
  13. Once again, Thanks David for the input.
  14. I seen them the other day at BPS when I bought some of the KVD squares. I thought they looked very similar to the LC baits too, which are about my favorite cranks. I'm going to pick some up too, would be nice if they preformed as well since their over half the price. BPS may need to start a permanent sell on the RC's for 9.99 to compete with these. I do hope their finish is atleast a little more durable.
  15. Thanks David, I wanted to get away with 1 rod for med/ and deeps (probably 50/50 use), but I may go with my 7ft rod for shallow/med. and go with 1 rod for deeps. On another note, my wife likes her skeet glass for her cranks. They are heavy though, so how does the dobyns compare to the skeet, or other rods like the excel glass, or KVD if ya can. I've held the 7'10" kvd and for such a big glass rod it is fairly light. She only nneds a 7' model though.
  16. Can't make up my mind on a rod for deep cranks. Thought about using the same rod for med and deep cranks, or just for deep cranks. Thinking of the 764cbrm or 804cb or 805cbrm. Don't know how I'd like the 8ft rod for med cranks though. I'd like to find someone locally I might could meet, to try theirs if they had one. I've never used any, and no has one on hand to even hold.
  17. Any news from this week???? Hope it turns on by this weekend. Love for my wife to finally catch a big hog, 5+ anyways.
  18. Going to come down for the first time, wondering how the fishing is doing? Heard it has been tough.
  19. I have'nt owned any kistlers, but have had dobyns and St. croixs. I like both dobyns and st. croixs, and may come to a price issue between picking between the avid and savy. I think either will suit fine and both have good customer service.
  20. If customer service is a big factor, I can say that Dobyns has went well above what I consider fair for me recently. I like their rods quite well too.
  21. I have some 09 stx's and sx, and a 10 stx. I like the 09 stx better so far. Mine casts weightless baits quite a ways with no problems. They do seem to "loosen" up some after use when their new.
  22. Yes if ya want a 7' rod, get the 705.
  23. I'd go with the verita or the excel. I can't speak for the verita except for other reports about it being a step above the vendetta which has proven itself. With that said, the excels are sensitive, and faily light. I would say they are probably on the low side of their power ratings sokeep that in mind when ordering. I love the 3 excels I have, and consider them the best rod at their price point at regular price.
  24. In that price range, I like the lamiglass excels. I think there are better than my pro-Q's all the way around. With that said, I still want to try a verita.
