  1. If you dont have heavy cover in your lake, I would crank with 10lb seaguar abrazx. Depth of your bait can also be dictated by casting distance. If your fishing offshore try a 7'6 cranking stick or longer. A slow gear ratio reel will help as well. I like the revo winch for my cranking.
  2. As said a couple times 40 is pretty heavy on a spinning reel. You could use 40 on a baitcasiter if you looking for distance. 15, 20 lb should do the trick. Stay with the smackdown it is an 8 strand braid.
  3. Denail Kovert 7'2 mh should do you some good. It does alot of heavy lifting for me!
  4. Try some of Wilson Fraziers Braid aid. Its a line and lure conditioner but its a wax.
  5. I am a Denali prostaffer as well. I like all the rods that Denali has to offer but I have more Koverts than anything. My 7'2's and 7'6s have been getting a workout this summer. From flipping to chatterbaits to offshore stuff.
  6. Dude you can get a awesome rod under $150. Check out the Denali 7'2 mh kovert spinning rod. I throw shakey heads, drop shots, small jigs, and wacky rigs. Cant go wrong here.
  7. If youre looking for a versatile rod with some meat on it. I like the 7'2 H Denali Kovert. If you want a flipping stick bothe the denali jadewood 7'6 or the 7'8 kovert get the job done!
  8. Denali Kovert 7'2 H is my goto rod. You should be able to get it to your door for $150.
  9. I run one and yes it is great for an "all around" spinning rod.
  10. I went with Simms. You get what you pay for. The thing I like about them the most is they are not heavy and dont wear you out at the end of the day.
  11. X 2 on Denali, the 7'8 kovert is great flipping stick for what you're wanting to do. Very sensitive rod.
  12. Check out Denali rods. The Jadewoods and Kovert series are in your price range and you get alot of rod for the price points.
  13. I like the Denali Kovert 7'2 H If you can find one.... right in in your price range.
  14. I like seaguar invizx 15 or 17 lb
  15. I've never used any Kistler products but I own several Denali rods. In fact I bought a couple from rippin-lips (thanks again bud). To me the rods feel just right especially the Kovert series worm and jig rods. The Denali Jadewood in my opinion is worth more than the price tag they have on it. Customer service is awesome. With the way companies are ran these days top notch customer service is what keeps me around and coming back. I would go with the Jadewood. Never seen the Kistler don't need to.
  16. I have begun skipping 1/2 oz jigs vs 3/8 because i can get it back further under docks. And get the same if not bigger bites. Try trimming your skirt a bit and try a smaller trailer like the rage tail menace and see if that helps.
  17. Well you have the Denali Jadewood 7'6 xh, Jadewood 7'11 xh, and the Kovert 7'8 xh all in your price range. The BASS open on Toho this year I used the 7'11 and 7'8 and jerked some knot heads over the boat. Favorite flippin reel Abu Garcia STX in 8.0:1. If I'm flipping mats 65lb seaguar or power pro braid.
  18. I found a great trail to fish very organized CBC or carolina bass challenge. They have a north and south carolina division. I have fished with Fishers of men on their upstate team trail as well.
  19. Take a look at Denali rods. The Jadewood series is right in your budget. Best bang for your buck hands down.
  20. Nope you cant! You get a certificate for a boat up to $25k. Couple years back it was a $35k boat for co anglers and pros got paid cash.
  21. I tested it as a trailer on a pure poison and as a shakey head. Went through quite a few because the plastic is so soft but it worked.
  22. Tape some quarters to the butt of the rod. I saw an old timer do it. He swore it did the trick.........
