  1. You could always buy a canoe and build some outriggers for stability, I've seen this done and it looked pretty nice and stable. They came off for easy transport too!
  2. $10 off $25 Purchase (Opens a .pdf file) A search of Slickdeals shows this coupon. Download and print in color. I've used a couple of similar coupons in the past. Makes Lucky Crafts or Sebile Magic Swimmers $10 each when you buy two! (Or makes your Peanuts cheaper!) Too bad they don't carry swimbaits!

My most memorable Jitterbug fish was one that I didn't catch. I was probably about 13 years old and was night fishing. I was throwing the Jitterbug out, letting it set for about half a minute and then steadily retrieving it. I got a huge splashing hit, felt the weight and set the hook. SNAP!! Was the sound of my line snapping. For the next 5 minutes we could hear that bass jumping and the Jitterbug rattling around as it tried to free itself of the bait. I went back the next morning before sunrise, but was unable to find the bait. I just hoped/hope the bass was able to shake it loose.
  4. Is it weedless? If it's weedless, I'd fish it a lot like you would fish a frog, on the slop. You also might have good luck throwing the bait all the way onto the shore and then slowly swimming it back, with pauses.
  5. Don't they have lots of little Y bones?
  6. Now someone's going to read your post and ask about using a live baby duckling for bait...
  7. How about a plug knocker or a lure retriever?

  9. My HERO!!!! Rats rule Which rat is that?
  10. Here are a couple of other options that I have seen. Heddon Meadow Mouse Bettencourt Baits Rodent
  11. lame. Most any fish in a fish tank will start to respond to people walking by, thinking they're getting fed. (Even if they're not being starved)
  12. I was able to avoid buying anything until I checked my email and found an email from *** with a 10% off coupon code in it. Doh. I picked up a couple of swimbaits and a Daiwa TD Mouthwasher Topwater.
  13. Good price on the ABT Rip Bait (aka Strike King King Shad). I also liked the price on the Bettencourt Baits Real Bluegill, but my wife would kill me if I ordered...
  14. I got a $50 giftcard from my inlaws and am stopping at Bass Pro tonight. Any new "hot" baits that I should look into? I'm interested in the Strike King Shadalicious or the Berkley Hollow Belly Swimbaits and am probably going to pick up a LC Gunfish 95, along with whatever else catches my eye... What would you buy?!?
  15. Roland Martin Big Bass Special Spinnerbaits - I have 2. They rock.
  16. Many fish are not aquacultured and are wild-caught. Breeding programs are on the upswing though.
  17. Or in this case, a 13" runt Next time I'll get its momma
  18. I pulled out a Fat Ika today as a result of this thread and had some success I caught a little (13" or so) Largemouth and lost a much bigger one after it jumped and somehow threw the hook. These really are a great secret. My only problem with them is that it seems to be a "1 bait, 1 fish" type of bait.
  19. An article I cut out of an old Field & Stream gives these tips/details: Use a bobber stop & bead with a small slip bobber. Tie on a jig (they recommend the Spro Phat Flies, but any hair jigs will do as long as you can tie them on and keep them horizontal. If your jig doesn't weigh enough to pull the line through the bobber and pull it up right, ad a couple of small split shot 18" above the jig. I didn't try it last fall/winter, but am going to give it a shot when it gets a bit colder up here.
  20. i'm sweating it because i want to make a swimbait imitating a pickerel (looks like a fun design to make) but i wanna make sure i'm not wasting my time making one Cabela's sells a similar bait, called their ESOX Minnow. I have one, but haven't thrown it yet.
  21. Anyone have any good fall patterns for shorebound anglers? I've been trying buzzbaits and cranks over different dropoffs and 6'-8' bays, but have only got swiped at by some pike. Any tips?
  22. For me it's random baits that just "look cool" (Like the Daiwa Dead or Alive, Bettencourt Rodent...) and Lucky Crafts...luckily, Dick's has lots of $10 off of $25 coupons that make my addiction a little more affordable (and to think, if I worked one shift a weekend there, I'd get 25% off! I'd be broke!)
  23. Supermat- What size do you use? Do you catch lots of big fish and no small fish or what? I'm just curious; here in Michigan the bass don't grow so big, so I'm hesitant to use big baits... Justin
  24. I ordered it today; I have something for weird baits... I expect it to be productive, at least with the toothy critters we have in MI, and hopefully for Bass too!
  25. Wiser words were never spoken
