  1. I too have had good success with smallies on the sammy 100. I don't care for the sammy 85. The first "85" i had would not run correctly, it just laid on its side and went only to the right. BPS let me exchange it, only after a 15 minute inquisition. The one I exchanged it for run ok but, does walk the dog as easily as the 100.
  2. I have not drop shotted a lot either, but, the only thing that worked for me was the 4" turtle back worm in black by gulp. It is as close to a live leach as I could find.
  3. Yes I was a little disappointed in the latest issue of "Bassmasta". Maybe I'm going nuts but , I could not find the "day on the lake" article they usually have, or possibly I am just mistaken and that article is in a different mag. On a positive note, I thought Ray Scott had an excellent column about the gentleman Dr. that originally loaned him $3500 to get the first bass tournament off the ground. I can't recall the guys name but I think it was "Applegate". Nice story proving how everything big, starts as one mans dream.
  4. spending most of my life in nebraska, I like to think I might have an edge on guessing that weight. I won't be surprised when proven wrong though.
  5. I don't think it is cheating, it is just another high cost peice of equipment that is available to anyone who wants to pay for it. I am one of the guys who is sucked in to belieivng this thing works. Hunters have successfully used calls to hunt many types of game, and I don't see how this could be any different. My concern is knowing how to use it properly. One thing it stated in one of the articels that I read, is that you can choose from several different sounds ie., sounds of different types of baitfish in distress, bass feeding in different modes. I would be concerned about putting the wrong sound on at any given time(like fishingrulz sd). They had done some limited studies(with loose controls imo) that showed where it helped the fish catching in some scenarios and made it worse in some scenarios and had little or no effect yet in another area. I believe there is a potential to help or hurt your fishing with this thing, kind of a catch 22. I think I will wait a few years to buy one and see if they can get the bugs worked out.
  6. get a left handed reel, then you won't have to switch hands. It will never be an issue after that.
  7. I have a couple of sets of them and have never had a strike on them. I can't say that I have given them a very fair chance though. They have to be worked very slow or they will come right to the surface. Now that I have developed more of a "slow" game I should give them another try. I do know of a guy who claims he catches bass on them all the time. I have recently found a new little private 1 acre pond that is full of fish that will bite about anything you throw at them. The next time I go I will throw the "Blade dancer" to see if they catch fish there.
  8. Nice fish and congrats on your new PB. You are and will always be your son's hero. It is just nice to here it every once in awhile.
  9. 11-7 gee isn't that a little small for you Randall? Frankly I'm a little disappointed. ;) Try envious Nice fish!
  10. Stated best by the late Judge Smales "Well, we're waiting" Anxiously of course.
  11. Didn't st pierre and hughes just fight about 3 or 4 months ago or am I wrong?
  12. 3 lbs 8oz on the bass and 3-15 on the walleye
  13. I operate a small independent water treatment company for the last 15 years.
  14. Great pic and experience! ;D Well worth your time I am sure.
  15. I don't have the aqua vu but one from ebay for $100. I can't imagine the quality being a whole lot different between the 2. In stained water, you are only going to see about 8-16 inches tops. Even in the clearer water I did not think I was seeing very far but, it is awful hard to tell. The truth is that I kept forgetting I had it, plus it was just another thing to be in the way on the boat. In the right circumstance it would be well worth the $100 in my opinion, and it gives the kids something else to do for a few minutes. I like the ones they have mounted on the bow. You can monitor and control your depth easier plus, it looked like you could rotate right and left or atleast you would have a better idea of which way the camera was pointing.
  16. In all the right places baby!
  17. Raul, I hear the laughter and feel the monkey right over my shoulder. Perfect timing for me too. I was just about to start replacing most of my rods and now it looks like I can get the latest technology
  18. A lot of good guesses. Catt takesthe prize with 2 lbs 14 oz. I couldn't believe it didn't go 3 lbs. She was a little fatty. I weighed her 3 times and every time the scale read the same. 2-14.
  19. Here is smaller northern bass. I hope this pic turns out. I will post the weight tomorrow morning about 8am CST.
  20. I have been using power pro but plan to switch to suffix based on my findings on this board.
  21. I bought one of the blue ones about a year ago. I don't like it for two reasons. The main reason, it is the reel I backlash most easily, the 2nd reason is that there seems to be a little "play" or "loose" feeling between the crank handle and reel while reeling. It does cast a mile though.
  22. Thanks for the help guys. It is greatly appreciated
