Favorite Prop bait
Thanks guys! I have several torpedos but need an upgrade. The LC Kelly and Buzzjet seem like good choices. I forgot about the Skitter Prop so perhaps I will add to my massive topwater collection. Topwater bite is my favorite for sure.

Thanks! Never heard of this one before. Off to do some research.

Favorite Prop bait
Looking for a new prop bait to add to the topwater collection. Was thinking LC Kelly J... What's everyone's thoughts? Also what's your favorite color.

What Were Your Top 3 Baits for 2010?
Fat Ika huh...I haven't caught a fish on this thing yet. > How are you rigging it? What type of environment are you fishing it in?

What Were Your Top 3 Baits for 2010?
Fat IKA - Watermelon + black 5" worm - Watermelon + red 4" tube - Junebug / Watermelon

Damiki Hydras
Largemouth up this way love them. They work great for suspended smallies as well. I normally fish IKAs in clear water around lots of rocks, bridge pilings and docks always next to deeper water. In the salad or super shallow there are better choices IMO.

Fluro? Really that much better?
LOL @ Vanish. I'm trying Tatsu this season to see what the fuss is about. I used InvisX (6#, 10# and 12#) last year and came away unimpressed. The last line that really impressed me was Samurai.

Damiki Hydras
This seems to work the best for me. I have a pack of these but I have 20+ packs of IKAs so it will be a while before I give these a true test.

Mid Priced Reels
Shimano Citica if you can find a deal. If its tuned and you upgrade the drag it's a serious value. BPS PQ people seem to like but I didn't like the way it felt. Get your hands on whatever you pick before blindly choosing though.

Knots
For direct tie to lure or EWG hook I use a Palomar or improved clinch with braid. Wetting the line is key. I did experiment with double palomar and the berkley braid not but the afore mentioned work fine. For leaders I use a double Uni or an Albright. The Albright is more difficult but results in a smaller knot which is important if using a backing etc. http://www.sportsmanschoice.com/terminal_tackle_knots.htm ~W

Time for this year's upgrade!!!
I think I'm sold. Thanks gents!

Time for this year's upgrade!!!
Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll pick up a Core 51 with a MBR Loomis just cause I want one.

Best line for jig / worm fishing
Samurai braid if required fluro leader.
-
Braid without leader
Depends... When fishing is hot I usally fish without one. But as things slow down or get more tricky I tend to use one. 100% of jigging, froggin, spinnerbaits are thrown with no leader. 99% of my softer plastics are thrown without a leader. Jerkbaits, slower presentations and high pressure normally will use a fluro leader or straight up fluro on the reel.

6'6" Avid MH... uses?
I'll buy it from you for $76... Great rod!!

Time for this year's upgrade!!!
Almost my favorite time of year... Filling out the arsenal. Currently have: Curado 201 E7 paired with Loomis GLX BCR 803 for my main soft plastics rod. Revo Winch paired with a St. Croix Big Cranker for cranks although not great for smaller baits. Looking at: Higher end Shimano or Daiwa Paired with: G Loomis GLX MBR or something in the same class. Was thinking jig, worm etc but maybe something more stout than the 803 which awesome but pretty light. Reel has to be available in lefty too. What's everyone's opinion? For instance Shimano Core 51 paired with Loomis MBR842/3C GLX. Or Team Daiwa Zillion Type R Curado / Loomis is my favorite but like to keep my options open. Also what do we think of Dobyns Champion Extreme versus G Loomis versus Kistler Z-Bone??? Kistler warranty seems subpar. Thanks for your time!

Cranking Reel
Shimano Curado 50 E would be great for that. At 6.4:1 it would be a perfect cranking reel. I have a Revo Winch which is 5.4:1 which also works great for cranking applications but seems to excel with heavier applications. Same price range for both.

Best Producing Smallie Plastic?
Fat IKA is my number 1 green fish lure. The brown ones seems to like tubes for snacks. 4" watermelon dinger was also deadly.
-
Best Baitcasting rod for under $100.00?
Depends on technique... I bought my Loomis BCR 803 from the Flea Market. Much better than ebay. Look for a deal in the market and get the best rod you can afford for you intended technique.

Best Producing Smallie Plastic?
Tubes, weightless 4 - 5 inch worms and weightless flukes

Christmas list-words of advice
LOL @ this thread. Make a wish list for cheap relatives. They can just pick a pack or lure of one thing. Gift certificates from the nicer people in your family. *** is #1 on my list, I will get BPS and cabelas though. :-?

Line recommendation question
For standard cranks I have been using 100% Fluorocarbon from 8# to 12#. Invisx didn't work great for me... I'm gonna try XPS & Tatsu next season. For fast moving spinners, traps and top water I always use 30 - 50 pound braid. Samurai is an incredible line.

Rattletraps
I had good luck using a yo-yo retrieve with these... Jerkbaits and spinners are tough to beat though.
