Blue Sapphire Jig Trailer
I use 2 trailers in sapphire blue color. One is the rage craw and the other is the zoom chunk. I use them on back of the 00 Modbug jig. (00 mod gen 1 from Siebert outdoors) I fish a lot of oxbows and runoffs that tend to get dirty, but at the same time have caught them on it at Pickwick. Really is a versatile color. Give it a try! Spooling Question
Modified Albright/Alberto or a uni/uni knot. Just depends, but both do the job correctly! Jeff

Spooling Question
Don't worry about the size. As far as how much line to put on, here is a dummy proof way of figuring it out. Spool it full with cheap backing. Go out and get the heaviest lure you will be throwing on that rod/reel. Cast out as far as you can. Then free spool the line and walk back to the lure laying on the ground. You now have exactly 2 full casts worth of line laying on the ground. Cut the line there and throw that away. Now spool your good line on and you have 2 full casts worth of good line. Jeff

Might Dip My Toe Into The Shimano Pool
DVT can supertune, bearings and drags for around $63 with the BR discount. A $200 reel(with free shipping) and $63 worth of upgrades and $10 to ship(both ways) you are looking at around $275!! Jeff

I have curado 50s, chronarch 50s, and a core 50. As far as super finesse, it is hard to beat a core 50. Mine is set up on a cumara 6'8'' mh/xf. The rod is rated something like 1/4-1oz. And 1 oz is not what it is suited for. I can tell you this, I can fling a weightless fluke a country mile with it. That being said, I think you get a curado 50e or chronarch 50e and send it to Mike at DVT. Get it supertuned, bearings and drags, and you now have what I call a "poor mans core" BTW- I have 1 core and 5 curado/chronarchs - You will be happy with them. I see no need in buying the core unless you just have to have one, and if that is the case, I understand that too! Jeff
