Anyone use a spinning setup for jerkbaits?
I use both BC and spinning but I have a spinning combo that I use just for jerkbaits. It's a 6' 8" M/F Okuma EVX with a 30 Okuma Epixor and 8lb AbrasX. I mainly fish smaller jerkbaits with it but it fishes bigger ones fine if I want to get them deeper.

KastKing Speed Demon Pro Tournament Series Rods ?
I had a few, a shakyhead rod, jig rod, and jerkbait rod. Neither of mine broke on me but I've sold all of them. The shakyhead rod was nice, but I have a LTB that I use for shakyheads also and I don't use shakyheads often enough to justify having 2 rods for them. The jig rod was laughable to even call a jig rod. The tip flexed under the weight of a weightless Senko. No way I would have felt comfortable setting the hook with a jig on it. I never could find a good use for it. The jerkbait was my favorite rod but I got a great deal on an Okuma TCS that I liked even better so I switched to it and gave the KK to a friend.

Show Off Your Work!
I have a herringhead mold that I was excited about to use for underspins, but it hasn't been what I'd hoped for. So I got myself a Seahorse mold like I should have in the first place.

Are Orange and Red Baits The Thing in the Spring ?
It's year round here too, but not many people notice, and that's fine with me. Gold is another really good prespawn color.

Suspended pre spawn Largemouth
I'd target other fish. Those ones are going to be pretty close to impossible to get to bite unless they're around a bunch of bait or suspended up high on top of some cover like deep trees.

Sun Gloves?
I have a few pairs of the KastKing gloves and they've been really nice. The reinforced palms have saved me more than once from sharp finned fish.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Caught me some dinks this weekend and that's it. Had one heavy fish hooked Saturday in my kayak on a jerkbait but it pulled off. Dogs got their first trip out Sunday in the warm wind and were loving it.

What Got The Juices Flowing?
I can't wait for the bladed jig bite to get back going in the next few weeks. That feeling when a big bass knocks slack in the line gets me going. They're eating a jerkbait pretty good right now though, and that's one of my other favorite bites too though.

It’s been 23 years...
That's a great fish for sure. March 7th is the day I caught my biggest from out there, which is my 2nd biggest bass from Kansas. I had to look because it's one of the few bass I took measurements on. Mine was 22.5" but 17" around and 7.76. March THE month for big ones out there. Sure wish the 24.5" fish I caught several years ago there would have been built like they normally are, would have been my Kansas DD fish for sure. Congrats on getting to the 8lb club in Kansas.

Help
No need for magazines anymore with the ability to get all the same information in an instant online. There's lots of good channels on Youtube to learn from. Glenn has lots of great videos to help everyone from beginners to lifelong anglers on the Bassresource channel. If you can swing it, new is the way to go on a boat IMO. What boat fits you is going to depend a lot on your needs and wants though. I don't know what the best state for bass fishing is, but I can tell you it's not Ohio. If I was going to pick a state, I'd probably pick somewhere like Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Tennessee. I'd want to be in a place I could catch big largemouth and smallmouth and also have an abundance of other species available.

Ever hear of otters eating all the bass in a pond?
A pond I use to fish got wiped out by a family of 6 otters. They showed up one night (the owner assumes by a creek that runs into the pond), and wiped the pond out in 1 summer. The banks were littered with chewed fish carcasses and scales. The bass that were left were much skinnier than normal, I assume because their prey was scarce. Thankfully, the otters left as suddenly as they appeared and hopefully the pond will come back. In a big body of water, there's no way they're hurting anything though. I do avoid areas I see them in though as I'm sure the bass don't try to hang around where they're actively hunting at.

Jackal ganterel Jr. (HELP!)
For sure not anything that big, those would be too big for a full size Ganterel. It's size #2 for the Jr is what their site says.

Bass coming off swimbait top hook
They just get off sometimes. I don't lose many fish on those but most of what I catch with them are wipers and white bass. I fish mine on a medium spinning rod and 20lb braid fwiw.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I drove almost 2 hours sputh today to catch about 10 fish. Everything looked good, fish that bit were aggressive, just couldn't find many of them and the only good one I had pulled off.

Seahorse head hook
Looking for hook suggestions for this mold, specifically the 3/8oz cavity. Barlow's suggest a couple bronze Eagle Claw hooks but not wanting those. No issues with Eagle Claw if theh have a black platinum version or if someone else makes a good hook for it.

New St Croix rod
Backbone (power), and action are 2 different things though.

Spinning rods
I have a 6' 9" ML/F Abu Garcia Vendetta that I use for Neds in my kayak that works well.

Wiggle wart?
This is one of the one knocker blanks that I've had painted that really does well for me. The single ball "knock", sounds more like the older warts and it moves pretty similar.

How to rearm a life jacket
Make sure you get that cylinder seated and twisted all the way down. They shoot a long ways across the garage and will even put a hole in the drywall if you don't (not that I know from personal experience or anything).

Anyone use the Plano EDGE Jig box for Jerkbaits too?
Just make sure they don't get left in the sun. The clear lid acts like a magnifying glass in the sun and bakes them. I lost almost 20 Duo, Lucky Craft, and a Megabass in just a few hours on a spring day because I left my box out on the deck and they got cooked, expanded and exploded or bent.

Is a medium + power rod as versatile as a medium heavy? (Both fast action)
I agree with the others that the specs make it look like it's leaning more towards a MH than a medium. Sounds like it would be a good rod for a variety of uses.

Baitcaster for finesse rigs??
I've tried the BFS casting stuff, and it just doesn't feel right for me. Maybe it's because I use my left hand for holding casting rods and it's not my dominate hand so doing really small movements and manipulating the bait isn't as easy as a spinning rod that I hold with my right hand.

Seaguar Tatsu and Smack Down
Sticky coming off the spool? That's the opposite of the experience I've had with it. It's very slick and explodes off the spool on the reels I have it on. It's great on spinning reels also. I don't use a leader on casting gear with braid ever though, not sure if that's causing any of the issues you're having.

Wiggle wart?
The most desirable version was the "Pre Rapala" version, before Rapala bough out Storm, but that was 20+ years ago. The newer version is supposed to be closer to the old ones than the last run was, but I haven't fished on to say for sure. They run that deep, but a WW shines in 3-7 feet of water just slowly bumping along. If it's really cold, you just pull it along with your rod. There's a Youtube video of Dave Baker fishing one who has more knowledge on how to fish on than about anyone.
