    Welcome!
  3. I'd love to be able to. I'm hoping once my boys are older, they'll be into fishing and want to go on fishing trips with me.
  4. Only fishing related thing I asked for was some Plano Hydro-flo boxes. I learned a long time ago about asking for specific fishing related items. My wife's family doesn't give gift cards though because it's a lazy gift. I always thought it was the best gift because then I can go get exactly what I want!
  5. Just took his hand and skipped through the store together is more like it ? I spent $40 on Overstocks War Eagle sale and I bought a Lucky Craft pointer 158 from Ilovehardbaits.
  6. Man I'm only 32, not quite an old timer yet, I use a lot of mono, and I catch a few fish sometimes ?
  7. Bullshads aren't pretty baits, but they are effective. My line tie isn't straight on any of mine and they work fine. Mike Bucca will address any concerns you have and make them right if necessary though.
  8. Bone is my favorite, both shad colors are good too though. The 185, 7" model is by far my favorite size. You can search Shine Glide on the forum and I'm sure you'll find lots of threads of me talking about it.
  9. Tie the line to a fixed object or troll it out behind the boat, remove the spool and add the spacer, reel the line back onto the spool.
  10. I much prefer the Savage Gear Shine Glide to either of those two baits. I like the profile better and it glides better for me without having to modify the bait. The size of the 185 is really about perfect size to imitate the shad the bass here eat too.
  11. Sounds like you may need to add a spacer under the spool. Should be a few in the box.
  12. 1/8oz is too light, especially for learning how to use a baitcaster. That's most likely the culprit.
  13. Hopefully the rods are better than they use to be. My brother in law had one of the spinning rods and it broke twice within a week of getting it the first time and the day he took it out after getting it replaced.
  14. I'd take the S waver of the 2, bone would be my color of choice, neither is my favorite glide bait though.
  15. Cold fronts in Florida is about a kiss of death. Seems they usually go into the thickest cover they can get into and sulk. You might be able to get a few to bite punching through thick mats and shaking a bait in their face, but bites are going to be few and far between. Florida strain largemouth do not like the cold.
  16. Welcome!
  17. The one I had felt like it strained really hard under a load, even only using it for jerkbaits. It cast great but I got rid of it because it felt like it was working so hard each time I caught a fish.
  18. A couple happy faces right after we came back inside from puppy fishing.
  19. Every company has certain rods or models that run lighter or heavier than what we feel like they should be rated. I suggest going off of the line ratings to get a better idea of what the power of the rod will be.
  20. I'm guessing guys cranking with braid aren't cranking rocks, especially with zebra mussels? It'd be easier for me to just take the baits straight out of the package and throw them directly into the lake, at least that way they might not be stuck in a fish's face when the line breaks.
  21. Unfortunately people abuse those lifetime warranties and that's often a major cause of why they get pulled. I saw some awful stuff returned when I worked at Cabela's, brand name stuff that was 10, 15 years old, or clearly abused, but it had a lifetime warranty so it was taken back.
