Tough vs easy touneys .
I do better in tough tournaments. I think my ability to stay focused and keep fishing when it's tough is a major factor in that. I also think I have a bad habit of rotating through too many things when the bite is good, whereas I stick with what is producing best during tough tournaments. As for watching them, both have their merits. Watching guys throw haymakers with big fish after big fish is fun, but so is watching them grind out every bite. Those tough ones make every missed bite and every lost fish so much more crucial.

Motor Guide vs Minn Kota
I've had both and prefer Minn Kota. Part of that is I like to run my trolling motor into things, and metal shafts don't do well when they run into things. The emergency break-away in my Maxxum has saved my TM more than once.

The Annual Boom or Bust Lure thread - 2017 edition
What was the one thing? It was a 3.8 Keitech Fat. Something about it balanced them out perfectly so they didn't roll but was small enough that it could stay down deep, but soft enough that it had plenty of action on a slow retrieve. It was just the perfect bait for the heads we were using and it made all the difference in the world.

Fishing From Shore : Wobble Head Jig Weight ?
I use a 1/4oz 90% of the time, but I drag mine instead of using the constant retrieve that others do.

The Annual Boom or Bust Lure thread - 2017 edition
Boom for me would be the underspin. I've tried and tried to make this presentation work, then @gardnerjigman did one little thing at our tournament at Table Rock, and the light bulb came on. It's caught me a lot of fish since then, and was a big part of the reason we won the tournament that weekend. Bust has been a tough one for me, and one that I'm still not willing to accept, but so far it's been a buzzbait. Year in and year out, one of my favorite baits and usually my most productive topwater. There's been a couple flashes, including my Kansas PB spotted bass, but it's really been a disappointing year for one of my standbys. Of course any kind of crankbait has been an absolute bomb for me. It's been that way the last few years though. Getting to the point I've seriously considered selling all but a handful of my cranks since all they're doing is taking up space in my boat anyways. Had some decent days on a couple finesse cranks like the Duo Realis shad and #5 Shad Rap during the winter, but that's the end of the list. Even lakes that are normally good crankbait lakes, they've been complete duds.

Do you enjoy fishing a new lake?
I fished 38 different bodies of water last year. No idea how many so far this year, but it's safe to say I enjoy the challenge of learning a new body of water.

How does a thread about being lucky spiral so far off center? Oh well, LOCKDOWN!!

Decent reel for spinnnerbait/chatterbait rod
Doesn't take anything special. I use an old school white Chronarch for mine. I prefer something in that lower to mid 6 ratio for mine.

Wacky Rigging: Hooks working too well. Advice?
This is what I do. There's almost zero leverage for a fish to throw a wacky rig, so crushing the barb has nearly zero effect on numbers of landed fish and it's most likely a wash, since a hook with no barb penetrates more easily.

Circle Hook Question
Depends on the size of the bluegills you're using and what style circle hook you're using. I prefer a Gamakatsu octopus circle, which is a thinner wire and has a wider gap. I stick to palm size baitfish, which should take about a 2/0 hook.

Topwater lures for smallmouth bass
Drill a small hole in the back of a Super Spook Jr, add drop or two of superglue in the hole and roll the ball around so it gets in the super glue. Add a thin coat of epoxy to the hole and you should have a silent spook.

I don't work for "discounts".

Jig Molds
I actually use the brush jig mold to make swim jigs. Kind of similar to the Mann's Stone Jig.

Purple Haze, one of my favorite colors that doesn't seem to get any love, and I'm okay with that

Long time lurker and a question
Welcome! I think you might be best off with the foam style with mesh straps. They're cooler, but you also don't have to worry about him being able to get the thing to inflate like a manual or auto inflate PFD.

How to turn trolling motor head?
I believe there's a little screw on the collar, should be on the backside of the head. Not positive though as I have a Maxxum instead of an Edge.

Size Jig head for Ned Rig?
The Pro Spider Slider head would probably give you even more glide. I like to use them with small, thin worms and craws to get a good gliding action, and you can get them in very small sizes.

New Powerbait Products this Fall
Disappointed that Berkley seems to be going the opposite direction they were just a few years ago when they introduced the Havoc lineup. These new lines are getting up there around Yamamoto prices, which I have a hard time spending on a soft plastic.

Need a new walking frog recommendation
Savage Gear makes a weedless mouse that walks extremely easily. I got mine at DSG awhile back and really like it so far. I like baitfish colors for walking baits. Solid white or similar is usually what I go with.
