  1. The King Shad fishes fine on a 7' MH rod or a larger cranking rod. You won't really need a specific swimbait rod until you get into the 1.5-2 ounce range.
  2. I fish it as a mainline and it does so quite well.
  3. No worries, I was just hoping they'd come out with that line in a lighter size so I could use it for other techniques, maybe someday.
  4. Yes, but is it made by Seaguar, or Sunline? The OP was asking about the Seaguar Fluoro because it's on sale right now. I'd love to find the Seaguar Flippin Fluoro in something around 15 pound.
  5. Welcome! We were all new to the site and the sport at one point, no reason to feel bad about it. Don't be shy about asking questions. I wish I'd had something like this site at my disposal when I was first learning, it's a terrific resource to have so much experience at your fingertips.
  6. I believe that would be Sunline Flippin Fluoro that has the markings. Seaguar Flippin Fluoro is all clear and is only available in 20, 25, and 30 pound test.
  7. I have 20 and 25 pound. I've had very little issues with memory actually. I can cast the 25 pound easily and it's some of the strongest line I've fished. It's the only flouro I fish anymore other than Tatsu if I need to go below 20.
  8. The smallmouth here love them. I fish a 5" fast sink. Cast it as far as I can across shallow points and flats with the wind blowing in and reel as fast as I can. Strikes are violent.
  9. You're probably on the right track. When it's going to be only $20 more to buy a new reel instead of just the spool, I'd probably just buy another reel as well. You might look around and see if someone has a used reel or maybe a broken reel they want to part out that you could buy a spool off of. Other than that, it's going to be tough to find one cheap enough for it to make much sense.
  10. You're basically talking about a Spook at that point. If you want a larger bait you can step up to a Super Spook. I fish my glide baits along the surface pretty often but none of them are that small.
  11. Of the 13 muskie I've caught in my life, 2 were while targeting them, and I've spent a lot of time targeting them on the rare occasion I'm on a lake that actually holds muskie. Last time I went I fished for them for hours, switched to bass and caught 1 on a squarebill and 1 pitching a beaver to timber.
  12. I hunt and build baits more when it gets colder, but I don't have an offseason. I can see the plume from the smoke stack of the closest power plant lake from my house now.
  13. Not in California, but I've had good success with the Ayu colored 175. I have thrown it on a rod with the same specs and it did fine.
  14. Thanks for posting this. In my quest to better understand and more effectively utilize these style baits, I've run into the issue of them being difficult to find locally and buying in bulk isn't very appealing when it's a bait I don't yet have confidence in. I already have all the other components from making other baits, so those will be a really minor investment to continue on my journey.
  15. Any time I've been on Bull, it's rare to see another boat, but I usually go when it's really early and cold when it fishes the best IMO. It is kind of a strange lake and can be tough to figure them out, but there's a ton of fish to be caught once you do figure them out.
  16. Is that the micro guide rod listed on their website? After I broke my favorite LTB that I used for bladed jigs, a rod they no longer make, the replacement I got just isn't the same. Having a good rod for bladed jigs is kind of a big deal to me, so I'm shopping around a little for new options and I like how it sounds like that rod could be a fit for me.
  17. I didn't think so either until I tried it. It's hard to spend the money on it, but it's sooo much better than any other fluoro I've tried. I really like their flippin flouro for a tough line for fishing nasty places.
  18. Revos are too long from front to back for me. I had a white Revo S and just couldn't find a way to hold it that was comfortable.
  19. Black widows do too. They really were a problem in outhouses.
  20. Been there several times, always a fun lake. I haven't been in a few years but it was pretty good to us last time I was there.
