  1. Welcome from a fellow Kansas angler!
  2. I had that exact bait, one of the best fish catchers I ever had, then I smacked it off the side of the boat and broke the bill. Haven't found another since. I'd guard that bait closely.
  3. I have a telescoping lure retriever that reaches 18', and I still had to jump to reach the Whopper Plopper. That's how I get a majority of them.
  4. Nothing about that looks comfortable.
  5. My modest order. Also picked up a 5 pack of buffs and a big order from Overstock baits that I'm waiting to get here.
  6. Never heard of any way other than removing the red meat. One of the local guys soaks them in Sprite and says that helps, but doesn't get rid of it altogether.
  7. The Swan was more of an ugly duckling Thursday.
  8. No anti reverse is a deal breaker for me. I'd rather back reel than depend on the drag. Easier for me to adjust the amount of pressure I'm putting on the fish as I see fit.
  9. Mann's Manipulator worm and wiggle warts.
  10. I think we've probably all known or been "that guy", whose story didn't quite contain the whole truth.
  11. I've caught tons of bass on Roadrunners, but I have yet to catch a single bass on a larger Under spin. I can catch them on paddletails on plain jigheads, but if I switch to an underspin, nadda.
  12. I'd go with something around 7' in a MH/M if I wanted an all around cranking rod.
  13. What are you using it for? I had a Casitas, cast a mile and felt pretty good, but didn't really feel it was worth the asking price.
  14. I'm sure you can buy a shorter handle, not sure it will make much difference though. You might look for a used reel in the last couple years models (E or G), and see if you can get a decent price on one of those in a slower speed. The G's got a bad rap despite being good reels so you can find them for pretty cheap. The E's on the other hand are selling for more than original price in some cases.
  15. Are you talking about bluegill shaped baits or just bluegill imitators? There's a ton of bluegill colored baits out there. For sure one of the most often imitated prey species out there. The Mattlures soft gills are extremely realistic bluegill imitations. His U2 gill isn't that expensive. Jackall Gantarel or Gantarel Jr are very realistic gill glides that are pretty reasonable, but that's in the eyes of a guy that has no problems popping for a Deps Bullshooter. Not meaning this to be a jerk, but I got a little chuckle out of the fact that you're avatar is an Imakatsu Gillroid, but a Hudd Gill or Mattlures is too expensive.
  16. If you're fishing them really slow, they aren't as good as Keitech, but they're a good bait that is worth purchasing for a good price. I bought a bunch this past spring when they were on sale and they've been a good bait as a stand alone or a trailer.
  17. Yes, they get smashed, but you have to bend the hooks or you'll never hook one. They're a very nice frog though and I'm looking forward to the popping version.
  18. Not sure if the Gamakatsu A-a-ron Martens dropshot hooks are supposed to be teflon coated or not, but they are sticky sharp.
  19. No JDM model either it doesn't look like. http://japantackle.com/casting-reels/shimano/low-profile-casting-reels/shimano-curado2015.html
  20. My days off this week are not looking good. Might try to get out Friday for a bit if the wind isn't too bad. WED 12/7 30° /14° Snow and sleet tapering off Hist. Avg. 43°/25° THU 12/8 30° /12° Mostly sunny and cold Hist. Avg. 42°/24° FRI 12/9 35° /21° Sunshine and not as cold
