  1. The lake I just bought a lot on is doing exactly this. Any bass below 13" is supposed to be kept with no limits on numbers.
  2. Savage Gear really is showing everyone up on the mass produced swimbait market. The design, realism, durability, and pricing of their swimbaits is very impressive. I'm excited anytime I hear they're releasing a new bait. I'm excited about the Gizzard Shad too.
  3. I unintentionally did something like that this spring. I was pulling into a spot off the end of a fishing pier where there was a sharp drop that came up onto a spawning/feeding flat. We'd had a good warming trend so I was sure the fish would be filing in and out of that area. As I pulled up, there was a dad and 3 young boys that seemed to just be exploring along the bank and woods. I heard one ask his dad if they could go fishing, to which he responded it was too cold, the fish wouldn't be biting. I proceeded to catch 11 fish in my next 11 cast and a few more after they slowed down. His kids were spellbound and were more excited each time I set the hook, dad didn't look thrilled at all however. I didn't mean for it to happen, but I have to admit I did take the "It's too cold, the fish won't be biting", as a sort of personal challenge.
  4. I understand the frustration, but please next time let your local GW handle the situation. A 10" bass is no reason to get yourself shot in front of your family over. It was too late for that fish anyways, so there's no rush. Yeah, he might caught a couple more fish that get clunked before the Warden gets there, he might catch 20 more, but man at the end of the day it's just a fish. People get killed over cheeseburgers and spilled beers all the time, it's not worth it. Not trying to condemn or belittle you over what you did OP, but we live in different times now where there's lots of people out there that put no value on human life and you never know when you might run into one of those people.
  5. You might see if you can do the same thing I do with my Garmin and plug it into the boats 12V charging port to run it off that all day. My video from Mound City fishing with roadwarrior. I missed getting a good one I caught on a frog almost to the south ramp and another good one I caught on a big worm back in the stumps. Other than those 2, it wasn't until I finally stopped trying to force them to eat the Golden Shiner Wobbler and switched to Ivy that I really started catching them. Wish I would have done it before there was only 2 hours left in the day because the numbers and size went way up.
  6. I like fishing Bull, but my wife likes Table Rock, so we compromise and always go to Table Rock. I catch more better quality fish at Bull than I ever have at Table Rock, but I've never caught anything over 5. My 3.5 pound PB spotted bass was from Bull, as well as my PB walleye, both on the same day.
  7. I don't have to, since I got my Garmin Virb Elite. It logs it all for me, even the GPS coordinates. I've never taken the time to learn how to look at this information, but it's there if I wanted it
  8. @JayKumar just took the info that @Master Bait'r posted and did a write up on it in BassBlaster.
  9. Nice! Some cool, copper undertones to her. I'm guessing your river must have a Tannic stain to it?
  10. First few were on my homemade bladed jig in golden shiner color, which is what I normally catch them on at this lake. I caught 2 decent ones in the middle of the video on a 7" Slammer. Halfway through I stopped being stubborn and switched to my homemade bladed jig in a color I call Ivy (chartreuse with white/red blood spots), and it was on after that. Unfortunately, I'd been so stubborn in trying to make them eat what they normally do that I only had 2 hours with the more productive color.
  11. You should always be able to feel the vibration. I reel it just fast enough to get the blade moving. If I stop feeling the blade, or it feels like the vibration changes, I set the hook. A lot of the time, there's a fish there.
  12. Jigs, T rig, or a wacky rig/T rigged Senko. You can fish the edges of docks with about anything.
  13. If the fish are eating it, then you're working it right. There's a bunch of different retrieves that work with that style bait. I do well with a slow, steady retrieve most of the time, but a stop and go can be really good too.
  14. I've never had one that didn't work so I can't say. Sometimes if they don't work when they first touch down a quick pop of the rod tip gets them working.
  15. A small snap. It allows the freedom of movement without the hassle of learning another knot or trying to get a loop knot to come out right.
  16. The Savage Gear frog has been very durable for me. Spro is a good one too. I like Booyah but they do tear easier, but I still got 2 years and a whole bunch of fish out of the last one.
  17. What setup are you using for the wacky rig (hook/line/rod/reel). Wacky rigs are one of the best hooking percentage baits out there. If they're indeed bass biting your bait, you should be hooking them.
  18. Jigs, bladed jigs, spinnerbaits, big worms. K.I.S.S.
  19. I change my reels with Big Game about once a month during the summer. It's so cheap I can't see risking losing a fish over trying to save a dollar or two.
  20. I don't bother fishing for crappie very often, but one of the power plant lakes I fish has some of the biggest crappie I've ever seen. Back when I caught these two, the limit was 2 crappie a day and they had to be over 14" to keep. I had 8 that would have been keepers that day but these were the first 2 I caught so they were the 2 I kept. Now they bumped the limit all the way to 5 fish and they "only" have to be 12" to keep.
  21. I like foam, it's more comfortable to me. For some reason, if I fish with cork handles a lot it dries my hands out really bad to the point the start cracking and bleeding. Not very manly feeling when you have to stop fishing to put hand lotion on.
  22. Nobody offers a small enough blade to make ones that light and the regular size blades have too much lift to fish a head that light. I've had really good luck with the Zman versions in the 1/16 and 1/8 (the micro I believe). They don't come with a skirt but a small plastic minnow body. I put a 2" grub on them and kill the trout in the spring but they catch about anything.
