  1. Tell them you need $XX to cover gas, oil, time right up front. I'd suggest a little more than what it actually cost for the entire trip. I can put up with about anyone if they want to drop $80-$100 to fill my truck and boat up just to fish a local lake.
  2. I just bought my Ocean Kayak Big Game Prowler II that's a couple years old for $450 with everything shown on it and a really nice Carlisle paddle. I've been looking for a few years now and being patient finally paid off.
  3. STX in pro blue, French pearl, or herringbone chartreuse. I've actually become a big fan of custom painted 110 blanks. One of the KC area guys on the forum paints them for me and one color in particular has caught pretty much everything that swims for me.
  4. It should say "wiggle wart" under the bill. I would get it painted without question. WRB, are these baits just original warts or are they under a different name?
  5. I just bought the mold for punch weights and wondering if anyone has tried wire tying a skirt directly onto them like a regular jig? I was thinking maybe put a toothpick in the end and put that in the vice to hold it while tying or put a rag around it and put it in a regular vice just tight enough to hold it in place to tie? This is the mold I'm talking about. http://store.do-itmolds.com/Slip-Jig-LurebrSz-18-316-14-38-12-916brHk-NAbrCollar-Ball_p_1003.html
  6. I've made homemade apple pie moonshine a time or two. It's great stuff and was really popular with some of the local guys on the board. I know for a fact I shouldn't ever drink a whole jar by myself while watching a baseball game again. I had that warm fuzzy feeling while I was sitting on the couch. Then after the game I stood up to go to bed and had that "I'm falling over" feeling.
  7. That little crank 48SR was a killer on the smallmouth for me this fall. Caught a surprising number of walleye on it as well as some big white bass.
  8. Spine shot? That's how I got my first archery deer.
  9. My favorite part is how hard they hit these things!
  10. While the wife is out dealing with the madness, my son and I are going to visit my parents since we won't see them on Thanksgiving.
  11. High 40's/low 50's I'm pretty much fishing moving baits with baits like suspending jerkbaits, traps, bladed jigs, and squarebills getting most of the work. Slow them down a little and you'll be fine. Fish are more active in colder water temps in the fall than they are the spring because they're cooling down from warmer temps instead of starting cold and warming up like in the spring. You can certainly still catch them on topwater in those water temps in the fall if you wanted to, just won't be as many bites.
  12. Good suggestions already. My thoughts when I read the question was, what brand of line? What knot? Are you wetting the line and tightening it slowly? When a good fluoro is tied with a good knot for fluoro and wet and cinched down slowly, your issue does not happen. Even when I drop down to 10 or 12 pound fluoro for fishing jigs in clear water it doesn't happen and I don't tone my hooksets down any.
  13. And if you do, be ready to pony up more than it's worth. I have several E series and a few of the new I series. IMO, the I series just feels tighter and better connected like Jrob said. If you get a good deal on a used E series then absolutely pull the trigger, but if you're buying new, I'd go I series all the way.
  14. That would be a nice setup. The club I fished in was individual effort and there was no boater/non-boater separation. It was everyone against everyone, even fishing against the I was in the boat with.
  15. Same here. I even use it attaching leader material for wipers and catfish (way bigger and harder pulling than any bass). The only knot failures I've had were my own fault. I've found that if I tighten the braid down first it eliminates the braid cutting into my leader and almost always ends in a very strong, secure knot.
  16. Happy Thanksgiving to all and take some time to remember those that are away from their families during the holiday to keep us and our families safe. I think this may be the first Thanksgiving in almost 10 years as an LEO that I'll have the full day off with my family
  17. Another bait that makes so much sense, but has yet to produce a single fish for me. Keitech on a regular head, great producer and one of my favorite smallmouth baits. Fishhead spin, not a sniff.
  18. I've had a couple bigger ones in the 8-9 pound range the last few weeks on medium spinning tackle (only way to get the bait to them), and it really is just hold on and hope they don't get into something for the first couple minutes. Ideally I get them where I can follow them with the boat but they never seem to want to play along with my plan.
  19. Start reeling as soon as it hits the water. If you let it settle then the tail (prop), will sink below the surface and take a minute to get going. It works with the bigger one.
  20. Sometimes I really think we need a Goose52 tackle porn sticky at the top of the page. Beautiful collection as always.
  21. Sorry to hear about your lost, just awful to have to go through that.
