  1. Mine have #6 Owner ST36s on them.
  2. I had a SC 16' Roughneck for several years, it was a very nice setup for a small boat. Driving a tiller for very long just gets very uncomfortable for me.
  3. I've done pretty well with them out there, especially on the smallmouth. One of the biggest smallmouth I caught out there last year was off the point right by the ramp on a jerkbait. I start throwing them as soon as the water gets soft.
  4. Further proof that we can't all agree on anything, I don't understand why anyone would willingly drink something that taste as nasty as beer does
  5. The Luck E Strike jerkbaits are a great bait that comes in a lot of colors similar to the Megabass and the bait design is very similar. French Pearl is my favorite color. Herring bone chartreuse, cosmic shad, pro blue, stealth flash, and secret night are all good colors. I'm not a fan of the X raps, they just don't seem to catch the bigger fish around here. I really like the Lucky Craft Pointers and Slender Pointers and Duo Realis baits as well and feel they're 100% worth the money, but you don't need them to catch fish all the time, but they're the best bait in certain situations.
  6. I make my own. Favorite is a 1/2oz brush jig.
  7. You have to catch a fish big enough to weigh first buddy
  8. I laughed when I saw it too. That tree beat us bad. I think we broke off on at least 6 fish on that same tree. I'm thinking there might have been some razor clams on the roots of it.
  9. Do you work for them or something? Mustads are a good middle of the road hook, pretty sharp and not overly expensive. I would put Owner hooks up against any hook for sharpness. The ST36 treble is pretty much the only hook on any of my hard baits.
  10. I saw that and the very realistic look and action it has, just wondering how well those little wings hold up.
  11. As long as she doesn't watch Glee and Keeping up with the Kardashian's like mine does
  12. I like copolymer except for frogs.
  13. I agree completely that the size of a jerkbait is one of the biggest factors in getting bit, but that wasn't the OP's question, even though it's what the title suggest.
  14. I've used both JJ's and Spike It, JJ's is head and shoulders above Spike It for a quality product. The colors are great, but this past year I started dunking my whole jig or plastic in the clear, seems to make a difference. Don't dip baits made out of Elaztec in them though (Zman or Strike King 3X), they melt.
  15. Most of my worm fishing is done with at 7' MH/XF LTB, which is for sure the best T rigged worm rod I've ever owned.
  16. That's a cool looking little bait, looks like it would be fragile though.
  17. Most likely you're catching those shallow bass for the simple reason that they're more aggressive. Often during the cold weather months bass will move shallow for one reason, to eat. So if you find one shallow, he's looking for a meal and easier to catch than those deeper water fish that are in a neutral or negative feeding mood. The shallow water also has more of you small invertebrates that bass in very cold water feed on a lot of the time.
  18. The move to the deepest holes and congregate. Smallmouth are so well camo'd that it's possible you were looking right at them and never saw them. I've also seem them pile up under root wads and under big rock or clay overhangs where you'd never see them without going into the water.
  19. We caught a lot of solid keepers in the river last time I fished down there, but nothing that would win you much at BBB. The biggest fish I've seen at LOZ was by PB2 but I've never gone much further down the lake than that.
  20. It's the cheapskate answer but it's one of those things that you have to let the conditions dictate. I've fished docks with 8lb fluoro, and I've flipped them with 65lb braid, all depends on the situation. A majority of the time I'm fishing 15-20 pound fluoro though so I'd say you're right in the ballpark.
  21. Try a San Diego Jam instead of Palomar with flouro.
