  1. What is that fish FM, a Crappie? Interesting yellow/red jig! Never seen that color combo on a jig before. Good catching! Dan
  2. Absolutely wonderful young Lady...and Dad!!!! Dan
  3. Alright! Home boy hangs one.....no, FOUR!!! 8-) 'Bout time "old man" ! Btw, is that a 'ceegar' or a pencil in your avatar MM? Dan
  4. If I remember correctly, Big Bass Zone(book) recommends sticking your rod into the water and trace a figure '8' with your swimbait. You might also try just 'killing' it. Oftentimes, a Bass thinks a bait is going to get away, seeing the boat as a secure 'spot' so make the bait do something 'unusual' . You might also consider placing your boat at or near the shoreline near a feeding flat or a drop-off. Retrieving a swimbait towards shore can make a Bass think it's going to be easy to trap its prey(your swimbait) as the bait's escape routes are limited by the shrinking difference between the water's surface and the rising bottom. 9. Very nice Bass and great pics! Dan
  10. Yes, "10" is way too high in most cases and certainly with a weightless Senko. Back it off to 6 or 7 and then tighten or loosen the cast control knob so the bait slowly pulls line off the reel with the rod held at about a 45 degree angle. I'm guessing that your reel really need servicing though; cleaning and lubricating the bearings and spool shaft(s), etc. Here is more than you'll ever want to know about reel brakes. Dan
  11. Excellent info! Thanks 8-) Dan
  12. I have recently bought some Swimming Senkos - curious as to how your techinque is for swimming it?? thanks Mark Mark: Nothing special though I may move it a little faster than the original. Throw it weightless and T-rigged depending on where you think the Bass are located. Dan
  13. Dammitboy! Are you sure it wasn't 18 lbs, 11 ozs? Humongous belly and what a great story! Dan
  14. WOW!!! Great BASS y'all! 8-) Got to get back up there with ya Randall! Dan
  15. I rarely fish a Senko with any weight. It's natural motion is at its best when it falls through the water with just the weight of its hook. I use a 4/0 GY Sugoi hook with my 5" Senkos(and a lot of other soft-plastic baits). T-rigged Senkos can catch Bass but IMO, there are better baits(the Swimming Senko for one) to be used on a T-rig. The original Senko just doesn't have much action down on the water's bottom IMO. Dan
  16. Y'all done good Burley!!! Get them pics posted and good luck in the tourny! 8-) Dan
  17. Fantastic fishing y'all!!! I love the hot weather! Dan
  18. Thanks. It's one of the best, a Viva Pencil bait. Very hard to come by now :-[. It catches Bass too. Another Viva Bass Dan
  19. Some nice, skinny, long Bass b4l! Look just like the ones I catch around here. Btw, get a quality(at least $40) tripod and you can then take pics the way you want to 8-). Dan
  20. Uh Deb, my little boat has two swiveling, padded seats on it..... You'd be most welcome but I'd have to find some 'blinders' to wear so I could at least try and concentrate on Bassin' . Dan
  21. I haven't been to the swamp pond much lately and when I have, I've skunked out or caught a dink or two. Got there at 11 AM; cloudy/overcast, no breeze, and air temps in the mid 90s. Looked like topwater time to me so I started throwing a Tank 50 Japanese plug and got a 3 lber right away. Missed the hookset on an even heavier(?) one a little bit later. When I missed that I one, I picked up my Swimming Senko rig and threw it right back at that area and picked up a 5 lber. Don't know if it was the same Bass but I wasn't complaining. Worked my thru the deeper end and the middle of this 10 acre 'swamp' with no more bites on the several baits I tried so I headed back to the shallows near the getting out spot where I'd caught that 3 lber. Threw a weightless Swimming Senko again but his time, I buzzed it across the 3-4' of dark water and then I 'killed' it for some(?) reason about 10' from the boat. I saw the bait stop and back up a little and then I saw the 5 lb Bass right behind the Senko. She immediately sucked the bait all the way in and then the 4/0 Sugoi hook did its job. Had two blowups from throwing the SS onto the pads you see nearby but no hookups. Drove the 40 minutes to my former boss's pond but only caught one dink there. Click directly on the images to get better resolution: Tank 3 lber Long and skinny 5 lber Same Buzzed SS 5 lber Again Dan
  22. I have(had) both reels. The Curado hasn't been used in years so I gave it to a very good friend who was just getting started in baitcasting. I kept the Sol and use it daily. Dan
