I used to be able to roll in the stuff when a kid poison oak ivy sumac none of it ever bothered me if I even look at it now I get it. One trick I learned while at basic in ft benning because the stuff is everywhere use baby wipes to was your arms where u came in contact with it or even the moist wipes from a mre. The bay wipes thing works good for me even after I have a outbreak. I would wipe the area befor racking out by morning it would be gone no lie and if not completly gone it would def be reduced and never itched and would be gone by the end of the day.

I use circle/octopus hooks as well for cut bait and minnows never for bass though just for catfish and perch. I never have the gut hook issue I hook em either threw the back or the tail. Never use a bober either just watch my rod tip or feel my line.

Iv always had luck with grubs like fat alberts or plain ole mister twisters. Then also the mini chatter baits with a grub trailer. Basicly anything with a grub swimjigs u name it.

Its the same thing as the laser lure isn't it by the looks of it. Iv noticed that same ad in magazines it seams like once a year sometimes longer it stays the same but the lure changes its always the same ad of being banned magic lure but the lure changes every other year. All I know is my magic lure is weightless plastics flukes imparticulary.

Well I had vs on in the background this morning while putting the new dresser together for the baby coming in july. My wife was there with me helping out and she started singing the roland martin theme song. After that was bill dance she's been singing the bill dance theme song all day now. Were walking around walmart grocery shoping right now and she's out front of the cart singing "I'm goin fishing with bill dance todayyyyyyy" but were not fishing today she's nuts lol

I got sold on the stuff as well last night I was throwing a weightless fluke all night caught 37 bass. Started off using it and hooking up every fish that bit. Then when I had to put a new fluke on I didn't use any mega strike and I started missing or they would just grab the tail and spit it out. Id throw mega strike on and my hook ratio went back to 100% 37 bass coulda been 50 or more if I put it on every fluke I threw instead of being in a rush.

I would die of bordem with out my droid but I do know when to stop I don't use it when driving occasionaly when fishing though gotta take pics of the bigguns and then send to the buds that are home. Plus I use mine to come on here and post I have br everywhere I go comes in handy when I forgot how to tie the alberto knot.

I had a ton of fish jumping today but I knew they were bass there's only 2 fish in the pond bass and gills plus I was catching them so that helps a lot to

The biggest was maybe 2.5lbs but I went Ike over every fish and hookset. There was an awkward silence when I got to my Inlaws and he was on the couch. My father in law I guess tore him a new one when he got home. I wasnt even that mad I just like to rub it in his face when he talks smack and I show him up haha

Wasn't a tourny but treated it like one. Well the afternoon started out good went home did some cleaning then packed my gear to go fishing with my wifes nephew ryan for the last time befor I leave for training in ft. Drum for 3 weeks starting Sunday. So we pack up and head to my in laws to do laundry and get ryan sense he lives with his grandparents my mother and father inlaw. We pull in ryan come up on the lawn mower and says he will be ready in 30min when done mowing his gears in his truck ready to go. So I start getting my poles set up changing some hooks out on some cranks tieing new things on and what not. I'm getting exited to go it was a perfict day we have a nice private lake we fish together because he's not allowed out there alone or with out me and vice versa I can't go out there alone and there's some giants out there so we gotta share. He gets done mowing comes up and says "I gotta go to my buddys house quick to show him how much fishing stuff I got ill be back in 20 minutes tops" so I'm like yeah yeah ok what ever make it snappy. Well 20 minutes comes and goes so does 30 and a hour and so on till I'm. Really mad and 2 hours behind when I wanted to be out in the canoe. So my wife comes up and says just go to walmart pond because its close. So I head to walmart pond as we call it. Well I pull off the side the road and who's here ryan my wifes nephew. Now I wouldent have been mad if he just said "hey I got plans with buddy" but no this is the 3rd day he's stood me up not to mention last weekend and the weekend befor that. So I just quitly get outa my truck and walk completly to the other side of this pond the less accesable side to fish. I start throwning tome t rigged lizards some jigs cranks the usual all with no luck. I notice him and his buddys arnt catching anything either. So now I'm like well this was a waste of a day but then a light bulb went off and I decided let's go to last years money maker and threw on a weightless zoom super fluke in smoking shad but with a new twist. I smeared mega strike on it. First cast.......bam dink 8 incher but played it out like it was the next world record. I did this for the next hour in a half catching 37 bass all from just a few inches to a few pounds no monsters today. The whole time ryans over there shaking his head listning to his buddys ask what I'm using and going "hey ryan your uncle has another one what's he using" I watched between the 3 of them catch 5 fish all dinks to my 37 it was sweet. Now befor I get people telling me I'm beating up some kid my nephew he's 19 and I'm 24 were more like brothers and best friends then the awww he's my little nephew. So all in all it was a decent day I. Woulda rather have fished some place else but when given lemons make lemon aid.

Is there anyway to tell what kinda fish made that splash or jumped? I always see fish breaking the surface but most the time I think there just carp occasionaly I'm sure there bass or pike because I see minnows going crazy then a big splash in the middle of it so I'm assuming that's a preditory fish. Another one is what about when ur aproching a spot and say there's brush or some cover and u just see the water wake from the fish taking off would u put ur money on bass or carp. All the spots I fish but maybe 2 of them are loaded with big dumb common carp and a lot of time I get confused that there bass swiming the shallow weed bed because I can't visualy see the fish 9 times out of 10 its a carp every now and then its a bass I mean that's how I got my 8lber I thought it was a carp

Mine came apart the rubber got a rip in it from a pike and then it slowly just came apart over time I can pull it off for just a all white crank body

J I figured they would be spawning when I'm back I haven't seen any beds but maybe there spawning now lmb have all but disapeared it seems all but the dinks. I'm slaming smallies on oak orchard though trout are gone and smallies are at the end of almost every cast bellys fat with eggs

Wonder if u could throw a bass colored crank if there being territorial kinda like the thread saying bass don't have hands throw a lure imitating a bass might be key

That throws a wrench in things if they go deeper along with the bass spawn ill be gone for 3 weeks starting Sunday to go to PMT to get ready for my upcoming deployment. Ill be getting back and finding no fish.

So I'm hooked on pike fishing now but I don't have many pike lures I only have 1 actually and its a old black jointed river chubb. What kinda lures should I invest in the spots I go to are loaded with pike a lot of small ones 30 and under but there's also a good number of giants wich surprised me because its a fairly small shallow creek. Iv seen 2 40"+ fish taken out of there in the last year all in one small hole in this creek. Iv hooked into a few as well but never seem to land them. The one I had on last night was pulling drag on my revo sx cranked all the way up looked like a small submarine running up stream then down again then back up I thought I was salmon fishing the way it was running. Also what do I look for in pike spots is it the same as bass pretty much cuz I always catch pike when targeting bass like last night. I fish from the bank so trolling and such is out of the question.

It was a snaping turtle! I went back last night after catching a bunch of pike all dinks but 1 but I didn't land it ill go more in depth on that later in a diffrent post. But the unknown monster was a snapping turtle about 4ft long. I was fishing and I seen what looked like a dead beavers back floating out on the bend. I went closer to investigate and its a giant snapping turtle swimming on the surface. I got closer and noticed it had some jewelry hanging off him one of wich was my crankbait right in the corner of its mouth. Besides that he also has 2 casting spoons a inline spinner and a smithwick or like lure on the base of his neck where his shell starts. So now thee question is how do I get my lures back this is the 3rd time iv seen this turtle there in the last 3 months so he must live in the creek bend. The red neck in me says a slug gun will retrieve the lures quite dandy that or I was thinking 4 wheeler with some cable and a hunk of chicken and some vice grips and several buddys to subdue the thing. Or I can just say the hell with it and leave him be but he's got my lucky crankbait and I want it back lol.

That reminds me one of the guys I work with fishes out that way he lives in amherst he might know where ur talking about and would know if there's bass in there where in clarence is it

Keep at it I'm sure there in there one of the quarrys I fish in albion the bass are already spawning and they all have lock jaw but I know there there. Could be the situation there. I usually wait till mid summer to find bass in new spots. Most of the places I go are covered in slop and pads wich for me is my strong area and find bass in new spots easy.
