  1. Everybody and there dog is fishing frogs in shallow junk so that makes the minnow even better and your hookups are better. Garnet
  2. I don't really think fast boats are that much problem. But these seadoo's are wicked fast for cheap money any kid can get one and age doesn't seam to be a factor. Every close call has something to do with a seadoo. We have boat liences in Ont. and it still comes down to you can't legislate idiots. They did make it well known last year that DWI on boats are the same penaltys as cars. Garnet
  3. Allways look at the pretty face of those smallies. If they are all marked up they are rooting around for dinner. Get the crawfish baits out. Garnet
  4. Your kids bait is my hidden gem. White curly tail thread round the bend. Why trolling motor overthere I will get it. Garnet
  5. The easy answer is wait until it's above freezing. Steelheaders are allways fighting iced guides. Vaseline the guides helpes and silcone spray will help nothings perfect. Garnet
  6. Color allways start with the color you see most in the water. It doesn't matter what the baitfish or crawfish are in your lake they will have tones of the color you see most. (unless color blind). So if it's greys and browns thats your start, if dull green go there what ever you see. After you get the main color work on acsents Chart, red, orange, white. Now just apply this to the bait and specie you are fishing for. Garnet
  7. On the water, willingness to work for free on charter boats. But the on the water needs to accompanyed by taking notes and reviewing my performance. Garnett
  8. Because Power Pro solved most of the problems with braid they also went thru the learning curve of a nation. Now copy braids get anglers that are educated on spooling tight and backing down the drag and lb. test for application. Theres a reason why they copy Power Pro. Garnet
  9. T guys lose that morning bite just running to there first spot and anything after 3-4 pm. The fishing is just a lot tougher from 7 to 3. Theres no replacing catching a gaint when it counts. All my trophy's are caught in tourney hours. Garnet

I've never had a fish spit it out because of salt. And just try to go on postive reaction from fish if they bite I accepted. Garnet
  11. They cashed in years ago had a no T.V. clause but they have one called Anglers Edge use to be on 1 of the relgion channels locally but I haven't seen it this year. Garnet
  12. Sorry 7 lb smallies pb dozens of 6's. You need to hit the steelhead river to learn how to fight fish. Basically if you hands like clubs you fight fish the same. You really need to try it. Garnet

Jaw Tech Big Bite Pitching Jigs and Mann's Loadmouth II in Desert Sunset. Garnet
  14. I made it back from the boat show. You are right open water fish have but 2 tools the jump. Truly large fish are rotten jumpers. If you hold max presure on a jumping fish you will lose lots. Get your rod infront of you keep a bend in the rod and use your wrist to neutralize head shake. The surge is a truly large fishs #1 weapon. Even if the fish is 100ft away the surge is dangerous just a little sticky drag can be bad. You see people lose gaints at the boat by keeping the rod bent to max and relying on the drag. When that fish makes 1 more surge from a rod postion above your head just drop your wrist at the speed your brute fish is surging. If the fish starts slowing down with your wrist apply pressure until you are in max rod position. Fighting fish in this manner makes lighter line angling easier and will give you more tools for largies in the junk around docks ect. Garnet Garnet
  15. I think you are mistaking pointing the rod at a fish and leting them have slack line never to I let a fish get slack line. Garnet
  16. Dr. Loren Hill is behind Biosonix and you would think his son would cleanup with dads invention. KVD is still #1 and Kenyon is not #1. Garnet
  17. In my multi species fishing I use between 2lb and 80 lb. In my area most water is clear to drinking water. I use 2 lb leaders ice fishing for perch/crappie. 4lb for Steelhead I would catch more if I down sized. 8 and 10 for walleye mostly bucktail jigs/plastic and small cranks. Bass Fishing I use 8 to 80 mostly I go for the lightest line without being on the edge. Most anglers can get the fish hooked but never learn how to fight fish on lighter line. If you have a fish hooked and they start pulling hard just by dropping your wrist and still keeping your line tight that fish can run 10-15 ft and never pull drag. Now you can decrease your drag by pointing your rod almost straight at a running fish and still miantain a tight line. As the fish slows down you put bend back in your rod. This is a bit of a dance but you will land a ton more fish on light line. In smallie fishing it's harder to land 2-3 lb fish than 5's. The little ones just freakout were the bigguns use power. Garnet
  18. Theres limited hp series in my area guess what the same guys win. Most are 115 hp or less and 1 partner buys the smaller boat and 1 buys the bigger boat. The idea is "I would have a chance if buddy wasn't so good with a trolling motor, or GPS Fish finder, or all that hp". KVD can take your equipment and thump everybody with the same equipment. The local hotshot is going still be at the top. It's pretty much a waste of time. And the good thing about fishing is you can spend $200,000.00 and still not win unlike Nascar or horse racing. Fishing always comes down to rod, reel, fish and angler. Garnet
  19. The deal is they have the stuff and can use. You might or might not have the stuff but can you use it. Pro's are pro because they take everything as far as they can push it. Garnet
  20. Every B.A.S.S. club does a conservation project. That is huge. Garnet
  21. Here in Ont. Canada we have WFN World Fishing Network (wife loves it) 24 hour fishing. If you go on the WFN website you can watch FLW's from 2005, Classic Patterns,Bass Champ and bunch of stuff by down loading from the net. Next year the plan WFN is U.S.A. then in 2009 Around the world Have fun Garnet
  22. I use Vanish don't over fill and don't fill your spool and fish in the morning. If you just leave it for a few days it nicer to work with. Worth the effort in gin water. Garnet
  23. I just looked at your targets turn that stool legs down. Now fade that bait in there to the left right behind the leg and fade that bait in there to the right behind the leg. Good thing every stool has 4 legs 8 eight side man now you're getting some targets. Garnet
  24. Ya I like to go both ways.........Larry Nixon switches hands so does Clunn,Denny makes a big deal about not switching..........for me the most important things is look at your target and throw it in there. Look at your next target and throw it in there. Garnet
  25. Can drop that yard off at my house..........your only choice is to move closer or further and left and right ever pitch. Any more than 3 pitches from the same location is trick casting. Hope you have no onlookers that don't understand. The real thing is on the water no 2 pitchs are the same and practice should as close to real as possible. Garnet
