  1. When I was 17 I was fishing from the bank standing on rip rap. The rock I was standing on turned over and my knee came down on another rock. It never really hurt, but I knew something was wrong because I felt blood running down my leg. I got my T-shirt around my knee and hobbled back over to where the car was. About a 1/2 hour later the bleeding stopped and it didn’t hurt that bad so I fished for about two more hours. When I got home I saw how bad it actually was and my mom flipped. Dad took me down to the ER. I had a dime sized hole in my knee that went down to the kneecap. The perimeter of my kneecap was intact the the center was cracked. The X-ray kind of looked like a broken windshield. They couldn’t do anything for it just told me to rest it. After that I’ve always been very careful fishing off of rip rap.
  2. Catfish scavenge from both the bottom and up in the water column. They also hunt while they're scavenging. We used to use rig up with both Carolina rigs and bobbers. We would re-rig the rod that was not catching fish to the rig that was catching. Rarely did they bite on the bottom and on bobbers at the same time.
  3. Years ago my dad and I were fishing around a point that had a bunch of trees growing on it. My dad made a cast and the crankbait got away from him and landed high up in one of the trees. Fast forward 11 months and we are fishing the around the same point. I get snagged along the bank and my dad runs the boat over so I can get loose. While I'm digging my jig out of the rocks I hear my dad say HEY. I turn around and hanging about a foot over his head is the crankbait he lost the year before.
  4. The Scott rig is guaranteed to catch small, submerged tree limbs every time. Today I caught two using it.
  5. Good looking bass, congratulations!
  6. Don’t give up on it yet. I almost never have luck the first time on a new lake. It takes me 3 or 4 trips to figure the lake out sometimes.
  7. I’ve joined multiple fishing forums over the years. Most of them are gone now. This one is by far the best I’ve ever belonged to. Thank you Glenn.
  8. I think you were lucky. Glad everything ended up OK.
  9. Welcome to Bass Resource!
  10. Keep doing what you're doing. When your body is ready to slow down it will tell you.
  11. Thanks Glenn, another great video.
  12. So far this year there hasn't been one stand out bait. The last time that I went fishing I caught them on spinnerbaits, t-rigged plastics, and super flukes.
  13. 4" Zoom finesse worm on either a split shot rig or weightless. Best colors for me are black grape and watermelonseed.
  14. If I have my choice I would fish in vegetation. Rocks tend to eat my jigs and t-rigged plastics.
  15. Spro Bronzeye in green tree. I don’t use frogs that often. It seems to attract more bullfrogs than bass.
  16. Warmouth, green sunfish, channel cat, and largemouth all in one day last year.
  17. I use them around here and I see a lot of other people using them too.
  18. Snakes don't bother me, but I do find it annoying when they go after my topwater bait.
  19. They still work. Cast it out around cover and let it sit for 15 seconds or so. Then start reeling it back in just fast enough for it to make noise.
  20. Around here 2 lb and up is picture worthy.
  21. This happened probably 12 or 13 years ago. My dad and his buddy were out fishing at a conservation area that sees some very heavy pressure. A fawn came out of the woods went up to my dad’s buddy and started nuzzling his coat pocket where he had some snacks. After about 5 or 6 minutes they were able to chase the fawn away back into the woods.
  22. I tried to cut mine the first part of April. After a few snips with the shears I gave up and decided just to let it grow. Finally got a buzz cut last week. Now I can go out in the woods and not worry about ticks.
  23. I've broken 4 rods over the years. Back in the late 80's I set my eagle claw spinning rod against the truck just as my dad was closing the tailgate. I broke a spinning rod about 15 years ago by trying to pull the bait out of a snag and not giving myself enough slack in the line. Snapped about 4 inches right off of the top. Last year I broke 2 spinning rods. I jammed the tip of one rod into something and damaged the tip pretty good. I didn't notice that one until I got out on the water, and now the rod is about 1/2" shorter. The last one came during a rainstorm when I took a tumble down the dam of a pond. I broke off 3 guides. I intend to try and repair that one sometime when I have time.
