Lightning while fishing?
About 5 or 6 years ago were driving to the boat ramp through a lightning storm. By the time we got there the storm had passed, but there were paramedics at the ramp. Lightning had struck a van that was parked at the ramp. The people inside were alive and awake, but they needed medical attention.

Spinning reel
I have three president reels. Very good reels. Never had any issues with them.

Favorite bass crankbait!
In shallow water it is the Mann's 1 minus. In deeper water I have been using a 1/2 ounce rat-l-trap.

Some quick tips :O)
If you are using an anchor always remember to tie off the anchor line to the boat before you drop the anchor. Luckily I was in shallow water and the rope was floating.

Menards, Home Depot, or Lowes?
There is a Lowe's about 10 minutes from my house. Menard's and Home Depot are both about 20 minutes away.

Suspended Bass in Open Water
Lipless crankbait, and if that doesn't work I would move into some vegetation.

Quitting on bass if other species can readily be caught
I have no problem fishing for other species while out on the water.

Jitterbug, Lucky-13, and Heddon Sonic.

Long verses short casts.
For me it depends on the amount of cover, wind, clarity of the water, and how finicky the bass are.

1/4 oz crankbaits vs 3/8 oz crankbaits
I throw 3/8 ounce and heavier. I can throw 1/4 ounce on a bc rig if I have to, but I prefer spinning rigs for those lighter crankbaits.

Fishing the heat
Around here the bass have been in vegetation that is in deep water, or close to deep water.

What affect will the weather have?
How bad are those thunderstorms going to be Friday? I hate getting out to a spot and then having to go back to the ramp because of lightning.
-
What's your style?
It depends on if I know the water I am fishing or not. If I know the lake I move quite a bit until I find them. If I don't know the lake I take it slower.

Just don't understand
Heavy rains and floods can move fallen timber around in a lake. I've seen logs washed up into shallow flats after a bad storm. Just because you know the area, doesn't mean the area can't change.

Latest backlash pics thread
I don't take pictures of my backlashes. I'd rather not remember all of the hours spent digging out tangled line.

Spinning reel suggestions
I have three Pflueger Presidents. I bought two back in 2011 and one last year. You can't beat them for the money.

Pflueger Spinning Reels Question
What the others have said. I use to turn the handle to close the bail, but after I started closing the bail by hand for a while it became automatic for me.
