  1. A favorite saying of mine... but I'm usually referring to women wearing lycra leggings.
  2. I have better line management using a bait casting reel, however, there comes a point at which casting a tiny jerk bait with casting gear becomes too difficult... Every angler has to make this decision for themselves.
  3. This sounds like the problem one of my spinning reels began giving me several years ago. My fix, which is still working to this day, is as follows: Locate the pan head screws that the bail assembly is held to the rotor with, one on each end of the bail assembly. Cut a felt disc at least as large as the head of these screws from a scrap piece of felt (available at a craft store if you don't have a small sheet of felt at home). Poke a small hole through the center of this felt disc. Now you have a felt washer to fit under the previously located pan head screw. Back out the screw opposite the roller side of the bail assembly and fit the felt washer over that screw. Replace the screw (and felt washer) snugly. I only needed to put this felt washer under one of the screws. You now will need to hand open and close the bail assembly, but you should have been doing this already. oe
  4. This isn't a site to discuss bonefish...
  5. Reponse became cyber dust, sorry. Short version, no research just curious.
  6. I'd like to see results of study that compares sinking jerkbait success in lakes with a shad forage base to a lake with a perch/minnow forage base but no shad.
  7. Yes indeed... a wealth of knowledge about fishing smallmouth in the clear waters of Lake Beauchene. He's quietly passed from any social media presence that I've found.
  8. most influential to my fishing... Al Lindner and Jerry McKinnis, but none more than Dick Bengraff. oe
  9. Use a telephone and call them direct...
  10. That looks like a selection of baits that I would cull out of my tackle and give to someone...
  11. Sometimes I wear a belt, sometimes I wear suspenders... sometimes I wear both.
  12. Yeh, it seems pretty silly to criticize that weed guard when its so easy to cut it off as I do...
  13. small plastics such as tubes, hair jigs and 3" grubs are sometimes swallowed deeply, these I often fish barbless. On 3 hook suspending jerkbaits I'll file the barbs from the middle treble (the treble most often sticking around the eyes). The rest of my bait selection I haven't had a problem fishing with barbs intact. oe
  14. There are many things that complicate fishing that I can't buy into... this is one of them. oe
  15. Charlie Brewer spider head...
  16. I'm paid up for the rest of my life...

  18. 6 in the boat, 3 spinning, 3 casting. Only 3-4 get used per outing but different 3-4 each outing. oe
  19. To fans of the Supreme XT spinning reels... I just listed a swap of my XT 30 on the swap board. oe
  20. In the days of Abu C3s the blue blocks were lighter than the white blocks. oe
  21. If you're asking about slowing down your bait retrieve speed... I sing. Quietly to myself I sing a song which has a tempo that sets my retrieve speed at where I want it. A side benefit of this practice is the significant distance other anglers keep from me while I'm serenading myself... oe
  22. As PapaJoe above, I play with split rings more often than sticky back lead. The weight you add when its cold you often need to remove as the water warms. oe
