  1. This is dumb. Did I miss something? I thought Solmoe's breaking news is that he finally caught a bass this year. ;D
  2. Be safe and thanks for what you do. You are one of the many great Americans who are helping us stay a safe nation. Thank you. As for what to do? Do what the other guys are doing. Playing cards; reading; sleeping; etc. And try to fish in a safe place when you can. Otherwise, stay as safe as you can and come on home ASAP.
  3. Dave, I once had an aluminum tub under the house, covered with a round sheet of plywood for my Nightcrawlers. I kept them in the crawlspace as they had a habit of getting out of the tub while in the house and I found them all over the place. Dead and stiff. It is a lot of work and expense. Plus the fact that your mom will go bonkers when they invade your parents' bedroom. You can buy two-dozen Nightcrawlers at Wal-Mart for under $3 and I suggest getting them there. Unless you can put them in a safe place where the wild animals can't get to them and they won't get loose and invade your house. ;D
  4. Funny. Good one. Got me. ;D
  5. There are books and pond management DVDs at Bass Pro Shops. Maybe you can get the DVD; the book; or go online for suggestions. Good luck.
  6. Any Texas Tech game against whomever. It is fun to watch this Texas Tech team and I hope they make it to the BCS Championship game.
  7. Spinning reels are rated as 500, 750, 1000, 2500, 3500 and 4500. The 2500 size is the best overall size, no matter the brand. As for a rod, try any graphite spinning rod. The IM-7 or 8 are very good, but don't get too hung up on the ratings. Graphite has the best "feel" when fishing. Read the rod's specifications so you will know the best line test and bait weight for the rod. Then match your rigs with the rod's specs and you are good to go. As for a combo, check out Cabella's and Bass Pro Shop's combos. Great buys. Good luck.
  8. Avid, great report and super pics. On the other hand, I fished a friend's pond today at lunch time and caught one catfish. So as you enjoy the beautiful Florida weather, we are getting ready for some cold weather beginning on Sunday up here in Virginia. Please keep sending those pics to keep our hopes alive for next year.
  9. Can someone send this to Consumer Reports for their back page of dumb stuff? It is very funny and it shows what sharp eyes the guys have. Dave, your reply is great. ;D ;D ;D
  10. Robert, that is very funny. Thanks for sharing. ;D
  11. Atrocity, Yes, he made weigh-in and came in second. Muddy, this is why we love you. Muddy, did you hear about the 80 year old guy who made sexual advances towards a 20 year old girl? They arrested him for assault with a dead weapon. ;D ;D ;D
  12. Super. Now you can be like me and get back into the trees and brush and little creeks. Just a word of advice....watch out for critters in the trees. Believe me, they are there, too. ;D ;D ;D
  13. Sam replied to .dsaavedra.'s topic in Tacklemaking
Pike, pickrel, muskellunge, sick white perch, shark, whale...whatever. It looks great! ;D
  14. Sam replied to T-rig's topic in Tacklemaking
First chocolate. Then watches. Now lures. It just doesn't get better than this. ;D
  15. What is their weight? They look heavy. Going to use same style for Willow blades, too?
  16. Contact Rondef by PM and he can give you a lot of advice. And so can others on the site. Welcome to Virginia. Welcome to I-95 traffic on a good day! As for football, nothing up this way to compare with Nebraska football. Unless you get all excited about Duke vs. Wake Forest. Or Virginia vs. Maryland. The Virginia Techies are learning and they put out a good product and some fun tailgates. Happy Veterans Day to you and your fellow troops.
  17. Use the bobber. One that can support the minnow. If you really want to have some fun consider hooking a small live bream or bluegill on your hook and throw it out and see what happens. ;D
  18. Bassnajr, We would not slam you. We are nice people. May I add to your suggestion that the individual posting use a lot of white space so we do not have to dig through a 5,000 word paragraph to find out the essential data for a reply. Good post. Thanks for posting it.
  19. Muddy, Shimano did this a few months ago. Glad Flooger finally got their act together and released their information. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  20. Fin-S, may I suggest flourocarbon line for spinning baits? Here are the line rules by Ike, just for food for thought: Mono - Treble Hook Baits Flourocarbon - All Other Baits Braid and Super Lines - Deep cranking or in slop and heavy cover/structure Just a suggestion to consider.
  21. Sam replied to -HAWK-'s topic in Fishing Tackle
-HAWK-, I would suggest using these lures for fun. They are different presentations that the bass have probably not seen so go ahead and use them and let us know the results. We are always on the lookout for new presentations.
  22. Thanks for those great pics. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Let us know when you are going back.
  23. Yes, line snapping happens to all of us. Sorry you missed the fish but you know where she lives so go back and get her.
  24. Well George, you certainaly nailed that one. ;D ;D ;D
