I can't afford the calcutta, so which of these two would be best for medium sized swimbaits. Besides round vs. low profile, are there any other reasons on one over the other. Any input from owners? Thanx.

Muddy, are the rattles really a problem or are they keeping some of the fish from biting, or did you just want to try something different? I like the glue idea best.

I have an old wooden lure that needs a new paint job. I sanded it down. I do not have an airbrush. I will need to use spray cans. Any suggestions on how to start and how many coats? Thanks.

I know there are many different scenarios, however, I was just wondering what is the most common size weight used for a regular T-rig worm? My guess would be 3/8 oz?

I also use a palomar. With braid it is important to cinch tight and leave about a 1/4 inch tag end. If you want some extra insurance put a drop of super glue on your knot. I believe there are some knots out there that are made for braid, but a good palomar should never fail.

I know these things were popular a couple years ago and I have read through some of the old threads, however, I am wondering what I need to try to get some takers. I have every companies type and many colors and sizes. I have tried a normal retrieve like a spinnerbait. I tried the yo-yo retrieve. I even tried a deep slow retrieve. Nothing. I hear others that do very well. Is there a secret or something else to try? :-/ Thanks.

I would have to say definite junky. It started as a kid going through dad's tackle box looking at the shiny lures until my fingers bled from hook pointers. I love lures, old and new. It is fun to try different lures and see what happens. Some of the newer stuff is more like true art. I use most of what I have. I figure when I get too old to fish I can make a nice display, give them to my son, or sell them and pay for his schooling. I do check out BPS regularly and sometimes make it home without a purchase, but TW and Ebay can be a different story. This addition makes me happy so I live with it.

To me, this guy was a jerk. From your picture, there is a nice sandy area he could have used to set up his blow up toy, especially if he was not ready to go. The ramp was made for motor vehicles. I would have said something. If that sign has a phone number to report violators, put it on your cell phone speed dial. His boat should have a number or some identifying marking. I would call and file a report. Next time he may act different. Our water violation number is already programmed in and I have used it.

I have an older evinrude outboard. I don't get to the lake as much as I would like so I hook up the hose and run her in the driveway. After a couple minutes of idling the overheat alarm comes on. The water is cycling through and the stream is exiting the powerhead. The alarm never comes on when I am on the lake. Is this something I should worry about or is it normal? Thanks.

George Perry caught a really big bass. Was it 22-4? maybe, maybe not. He did what he needed to. It was weighed, notarized, and fed to a needy family. The photo part is puzzling. Not many cameras around rural Georgia in 1932. Film and processing costs also involved. If you were going to take a photo, would you not want the picture to be of the angler and his catch? Not just some unknown guy and a kid? Was the fish 100% LMB or a cross hybrid lookalike? Many questions, however, it is the record until broken, believe it or not.

I guess I would go with suffix braid 20lb. Works good spinning or casting.

Spoon fishing seems to have been lost to many other lures and techniques. I'm not talking jigging spoons, just cast and retrieve spoons. I still like to fish them over and around vegetation. My favorites are some of the older type spoons, rapala, mepps timber doodle, johnsons silver minnow, tony accetta, daredevil, etc. Lets hear it if you still chuck a spoon and what is your favorite? I like a gold spoon with a black twister tail added.

Looking for a good rod for throwing small & medium swimbaits. Right now I am looking at the Mojo or the Kistler magnesium. Any thoughts on these or others before I pull the trigger?

I was wondering what your best discontinued crankbait is? I have an old Cordel, not sure the model but it is good for at least one bass each time I use it. (silver w black back) I have an old wooden river runt that also triggers many strikes. (silver) I have heard some of the old 70's bagleys are good and some of the old bombers also. Lets hear yours, model and color if you know it. Thanks.

Are these any good? I saw one at BPS it was called Magnesium TS or something. Anyone use it? It seemed very light for a swimbait rod. Just wondering if anyone has some knowledge about it.

I too, have not become a big flourocarbon fan yet. I think because of the material in the line and the small amount of stretch it seems brittle. It works fine under a steady pull, however, if you pop it or give a snap type hook set it breaks. This is only my experience with it so far. I am determined to figure it out because I love the low visibility. I do not like a line I have to baby, and that is why for now I use braid on most of my setups except topwater, where mono gets the call. :-/

Well, the poor economy has hit home. I have to cut down on spending. I normally buy replacement trebles like Gammys or Owner. Now I need to get some cheaper. With the top brands out, Which would you buy Mustad or Eagle Claw?

When you change out trebles on old baits that just have the small screw in eye bolts, should you unscrew and attach the new treble and screw back in with some glue, or cut off old treble hook add a split ring and install new hooks? Hope that makes sense, I need to replace some hooks on old lures. Thanks.

I have been looking at 2 swimbait rods, the Okuma and the St.croix Mojo. Anyone have any input on which would be better? Price is very similar. Thank You.

I think that question is impossible to answer to the extreme end. I do believe that details can matter in certain situations. Bass bite for mainly three reasons, 1.feeding, 2.reaction, and 3.defending territory (nest or fry). Feeding is usually a site type bite and in clear water, detail, color, and size are important. Reaction bites are instinct and happen too quickly to be detail oriented. Defending can be detail driven, such as chasing bluegills away, but without hands a bass will pick up everything with his mouth and move it safely away. There are always exceptions, but I like natural looking baits and they give me more confidence.

After watching some of the pros on tv, I noticed a difference in some of their storage. Most use plano 3700 for hard baits and that works great. On soft plastics some keep them in the original bags, and others also use plano 3700 to organize worms, etc. The boxes seem better organized, instead of bags laying around or binders, however, I did hear keeping plastics in the bags you buy will keep them fresher. Any thoughts?

I am thinking about a new trolling motor this year. My boat is fairly small and is only set up for 12 volts. So the debate continues (motorguide or minnkota)? I currently own a motorguide and it has served me well. It is beat up and kind of out dated. Lets hear it and thanks for the help. Tell me your choice and why, consider cost, reliability, ease of use, features, etc. I hope this doesn't get as heated as Diawa vs Shimano.
