Yup, and that's how I fish them most of the time.

There is no wrong way to fish them. I would say most people fish them weightless wacky rig. I prefer to weightless fly-line them most of the time. I caught PB on a trip to MX when I pinned one on a T-Rig after we ran out of lizards. I believe A-Jay uses them as jig trailers in MX.
  3. If I could only have TWO colors, it would be these two. Greenpumpkin a close 3rd. Those Florida strain LMB sure do love purple tho...
  4. "Did I do that"? Knows d**n well he did that! haha
  5. Does one need one? No. Do I have one? Yes. I try and have a technique specific rod for various different presentations. Jerkbait is a very important one to me because I want short, lightweight sensitive rod for this technique. IMO, it is one of the more taxing presentations and I want to use the right equipment for this.
  6. Yes. I fish technique specific setups because I want to use the right tool for the job. My Drop Shot rod is very different than my Flippin' N' Pitchin' stick.
  7. I haven't used the CX. I'm a Sufix and Sunline man now.
  8. Oh, I know... thats why I hit you with the laughing emoji on the ratings. Haha. For me, I will not hesitate using it as it can be the difference between catchin' and a boat ride. I love to bust D-Shot haters chops too! Ha!
  9. The thing is, this is the most deadly technique for deep water where i'm from. Yes, I know the boring ol' drop shot, but catchin' is catchin' right?
  10. Mine too. I have several E7's as well and an E5 and 300 sizes and other E series reels.
  11. IME, the P Line CXX is stronger, the Yozuri Hybrid is more supple, easy to handle.
  12. I haven't used Sunline Shooter (love Sniper fluoro tho) but, Maxima Ultragreen AND P-Line CXX are extremely strong lines. The Maxima was my go-to mono for years until I switched to P-Line. I use mostly Sufix now, but those other two are high quality lines.
  13. I have a few of the previous generation and they are nice rods. Light and sensitive. A good combo in my book. Most of my rods are Shimano/ G Loomis and Falcon. Try it, you just might like it.
  14. Jump offs happen, it's just part of the game. I fish a barbless lake with feisty Northerns and I get jumped off all the time. Sometimes dropping the rod tip straight down into the water can help keep them in the water, but there are no guarantees.
  15. There are other Jerkbaits besides Megabass? I kid, I kid. For the longest time my go-to was the LC Pointer. Good old Ghost Minnow is a fav of mime. I love the LC Flash Minnows for salty applications.
  16. Those Robo Worms are your friend on the Drop Shot. This is a critical technique to learn to fish on our deep clear canyon reservoirs here in So Cal. It should be killer in your clear water conditions as as well. Works in stained water too. I generally find less is more with the Drop Shot. Let the current do its thing, but don't be afraid to move it around a little bit if dead sticking isn't working
  17. While I have caught fish on black n blue jigs and plastics, I find almost every single other color to be more productive and it's not for lack of trying. I own a bunch of black n blue jigs, but just find that greens and browns are way more productive for me. Same with plastics.
  18. I have made them, used them and caught fish with them. I was on a trip and a fellow asked where I got my bait from because clear with red flake was one of his all time favorites and he couldnt find them anywhere. Clear (with or without flake) definetly works, but whats the fun in fishing that when there are so many diffrent colors to fish!

  20. Around $200 for me for the rod or reel. I have $200 setups and $1000 setups, but the bulk of my stuff is around $400 +/ - for a combo. Seems to be a good price point for me for what I do.
  21. If I'm targeting Bass and only catch a Crappie, Bluegill, etc I consider it as getting skunked. Went out recently targeting Bluefin Tuna, only managed some Rockcod on an outer bank. I considered it a "skunk" trip, but not necessarily a "bad" trip. I have been enjoying eating the various Rockcod we brought home.
  22. I fish the Shimano "E" series of Curados, Citicas and Chronarchs in 50's, 200's and 300's almost exclusively. Set it and forget it. I have fished many series before and after them and this series just does it for me. Got that footprint and that "mojo" that works well for me. The series was introduced in 08'.

Yup. Still in my rotation along with worms and creatures. T-Rig or C-Rig. 5" Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red, Black/ Red and Junebug are some favs.
  24. I have watched this video several times throughout the years and it never gets old...
