  1. I'm not entirely sure how I'm angry. Perhaps you could point that one out... I never once said anything about you not being a dobyns fan boy.... You didn't ask me anything about the rods. Anytime anybody has ever had a question pertaining to the dobyns line up, I always try to give some sort of a detailed answer. PMs often get answered more in depth since the questions are usually more specific. Again, if you have a question i or others will gladly answer it. Anyway, im sure this thread has run its course. Enjoy your stuff Teal.
  2. I'm not sure if there is a question or what in whatever that meant but I don't recall myself ranting on anything. If you have a specific question(at least I think you do per the last line in your post?), I will glady answer it.
  3. At least your senseless rants are entertaining.
  4. Garys great. He can also get a lot of reel upgrades at a good price.
  5. They were bought out last year and did most of their business over ebay for a while. They have a new website up now. http://karuluresusa.com/vibrashock.html Glad to see them back
  6. if you aren't taking advantage of the current TW or BTD sale this weekend, there is usually a TW presidents day sale around the middle of the month.
  7. It will probably end at midnight 11:59 tonight. BTD ends then as well. maybe not though.
  8. Anybody remember/still use the vibrashock? hands down my favorite bladed swim jig. The company went under new management I think early last year. their website is finally up, too.
  9. 38 what? picks? i could see that now. this game so far is awful.
  10. I watched the kitten bowl .
  11. his jigs are top notch and more than affordable. mike is a great guy
  12. that's a personal preference and really dependent on the size of bait you are using. the 704 is a pretty whippy rod but it can handle 1.5s. the 705 does handle the 1.5s better though. that's going to be really tough if you want to stay in the dobyns line up. i like a longer rod for cranks and a shorter rod for topwater/jerkbaits. i wouldn't want to throw squarebills on my jerkbait rod and vise versa BUT if I HAD to choose one, i'd rather have the 705 for squarebills and lipless cranks and make it work for jerkbaits and topwaters.
  13. I picked up 2 more Dobyns rods from the BTD super bowl sale. The prices were just WAY to cheap not to,
  14. this is exactly what I use for fluoro as well. the knot is just so strong. does the SD jam knot have any ill afffects on mono that you are aware? I've bounced back and forth between the SD jam and palomar and haven't found a very large differential to choose one over the other but my sample size is considerably small.
  15. i use a 2 wrap uni knot for backing. you could probably use 1. i very rarely cast to the backing knot and when i do, it's time to change line anyway. i cut the tag ends as close to the knot as humanly possible too. just give the knot a few good tugs after tying it if you go the route i do and you will be fine.
  16. the 704cb would make a great topwater rod. i'd personally look at the 684 or 685 but i like a shorter rod for topwaters. the "fast" action on the cb rods isn't "fast" like your typical jig/worm fast action rods. it's fast for a crankbait rod initially when working or casting the bait but when under a load from a fish it turns more moderate than fast.
  17. Depending on your price range....Dobyns Champion 735c. This would make a great frog rod, horny/buzz toad rod and 3/8-3/4 jig or trig rod. you could throw spooks on it but i wouldn't want to. it's a pretty powerful rod.
  18. just becareful /w the promo codes + sales. I've tried that a few times /w big sales. the first e-mail you receive that gives you the total and items you ordered gives the discounted price. the following e-mail when you are actually charged for the items deducted the promo code and only gives sale prices. they are good at catching that.
  19. 1/2oz brush jig 3/16 shakey head 1/4oz trig beaver 5/16oz trig worm hollow body frog 1.5 squarebill lipless crank 1/4oz swim jig 3/8 Karu chatterbait 1/4oz yellow magic popper
  20. All mine are 7'4. Better leverage and you pick line up quicker.
  21. I use the 733 for what you were using
