  1. OP, don't...ever...do...this. Almost all the bearings in a reel are used under such a low RPM this bearing is useless. A quality SS bearing is just as good in every aspect for anything expect spool bearings. The boca ceramics aren't really an upgrade over a stock shimano bearing. Shimano uses some pretty decent spool bearings. They spin faster and give you a cute, useless freespool test but aren't anything to write home about. If you want to upgrade to a quiet, smooth bearing, go the Hedgehog ZR, ZPI SIC, or Hedgehog HD. Similiar price to bocas and a much better bearing. Shimano bantam oil is fine. you want to use the lowest viscosity oil you can. Hedgehog alchemy is great stuff, ZPI has a new one, boca rocket fuel is another. A very good, cheap alternative is REM oil. It doesn't last as long as others but it's a very good, low viscosity oil.
  2. better maps. Lowrance base maps/preloaded maps are terrible relative to whats on map cards.
  3. League is full ladies!
  4. Been using @Siebert Outdoors ned heads this year. Guy makes a great little ned head.
  5. Still needing 1 more
  6. Tie goes to highest in waiver order
  7. Its alot better than grandmas rolling waivers each week. You bid any $ on any player in the wire. You dont get to see others bids until the waivers clear the next day. 100$ has to last all season.
  8. A change for this year is going to waivers. We aren't doing the stoneage waiver system anymore. We are going to goto FAAB. Free agent acquisition budget. You get a season budget of 100$. Wavers run every day at 5am except Tuesday. If you guys haven't used FAAB before, it's 100xs better than the traditional waiver system. Here's where I need some input....I play in leagues that do this both ways. 1$ min bids or 0$ min bids? There's pros and cons to both . I'm thinking of staying /w the 1$ bid due to the shallow league and the large amount of player pool available on the wire. The only negative to 1$ min is for those that stream defenses weekly. I don't see this being an issue in a smaller league but it's annoying in 12-14 team leagues where every $ matters.
  9. You don't need to sand them to achieve this. Put them in your car window for a week and the brightness will fade.
  10. It's due to the wiring being too close to the power for the unit. I'm guessing if you step on the TM button, the interence starts and letting off stops it. Putting a ferrite choke around the transducer and power wire together closest to the unit where the TM wiring is will likely fix the issue . Common problem, no biggie.
  11. Lowrance has had sonar chart live for a few years. Been using it for backwaters. Really like it.
  12. Lures in that weight range are also aided by using the correct rod. I throw 1/8oz tubes /w a tatula 100 but I'm also using a rod that is meant for that.
  13. lol....how is this some revolutionary idea? People cut their deck out for a recessed tray all the time on boats that aren't equipped with one. You can literally build exactly this in your own boat and /w far less effort /time than installing the recessed tray....cut the hole, fabricate whatever you want the trolling motor pedeal to be stowed in, and hinge the cutout...
  14. Still needing 1 more. Gonna leave this just on this site like years past until after preseason week 2 if nobody joins. After that it will fill up no problem elsewhere on another fishing site.
  15. 1 spot still open guys
  16. Gear speed has nothing do to with the point. People using or not using XG reels for specific applications has nothing to do with what I said. Not sure why you jumped to that point or even concluded that from my statement but whatever. I'm referring to gear material. In that, yes, there is a difference. The Steez SV TW and Steez A use a duralumnium. Durable? Yes. I own multiples of both variants. Specifically, I've had to replace the gear set in my Steez SV TW for heavy cover pitching / flipping. I bought the reel specifically for this and will have to replace the gears every 2-3 years and I'm fine /w that. duralumnium gears aren't meant for this but I'm fine /w it. I love the reel. the morenthan , which is just a JDM variant of the steez A, in lower gear ratios also uses duralumnium. The 8.6 specifically, and only the 8.6, uses a bronze coated gear to help aid in wear from heavy cover use/heavy salt use.
  17. The 8.6 specifically has a different gear material that is more conducive to frogging.
  18. Daiwa 2019 Morethan in 8.6 would be my choice for a frog reel over the steez A.
  19. Again....Hedgehog studios....one of the most, if not the most, popular vendor for aftermarket reel parts. Aftermarket spools aren't made stateside and OEM/stock spools are more readily available, and often times less expensive, from popular JDM vendors. https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product-list/325 https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/3960 https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/3817 https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/3865 Stock SV TW is avaiable as well as the ZPI aftermarket for the tatula SVTW which is a much better spool. Both the PG and M series are inprovments over the stock tatula sv spool.
  20. Haha. We have 1 spot left. So far: Iabass MrsIaBass Mike L Jrob Jbsooner FordsnFishin Smallies
  21. There are hundreds of aftermarket/spare spools for daiwa reels. Tackletrap has some availalble but hedgehog studios has a large inventory of them. They have both direct replacements for the Tatula SV as well as aftermarket spools for the Tatula SV. https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product-list/325
  22. Throw balsa more than plastic. Big fan of WEC E-1, WEC mutt variants, Jawjacker J1s and momma Js, Barr WW and FF3s, new PH lil guy is surprisingly good, too. Some custom guys on WBN make some great ones, too.
  23. No, they aren't. The spool is significantly better in the zillion but the price difference doesn't warrant it.
  24. 5 paid 1 tentative-will pay i'm sure after he missed out last year. 2 empty spots left- I'll keep this just here for this week to see if anybody else has interest before opening it up .
