  1. I love my ducketts! I have a 7'0" Medium which I use for Texas rigs, crankbaits, topwater. And a 7'0" Heavy which is use for jigs, frogs, small swimbaits like a black dog bait shellcracker. I'm getting a 7'6" heavy in a week because my Heavy broke after setting the hook which I think was a fish. Set the hook and it felt like one because on how whatever it was moving, but my jig unhooked. There customer service is pretty good to. I emailed them about a rod specs and they sent me a lot of detailed info about it. I also asked if I could get a sticker and they sent me 9 for some reason haha. They are really sensitive and light.
  2. Aww shucks! You caught me. You crushed my dreams...
  3. Just go and look at those other threads about it. No reason for anyone else to post here.
  4. Nice home brewed rat bait!
  5. This!!! Possibly a frog to, those green backs come out from the deep for frogs.
  6. I recently love the jig now, been catching some big bass on recently. One vein about 7 pounds. Caught some on a crankbait. Started fishing deeper and catching fish. The jig was the main goal though, it's one of my favorites!
  7. I want to get one so bad!!!
  8. Congratulations!
  9. I love my ducketts, I'm even getting another one soon. These rods are amazing. I mainly use them for jigs and bottom bouncing baits because they are really sensitive. And if you don't like the split grip, you can go to their website and get a full grip one. I don't know anything about the powells so I can't make a comment about them.
  10. That's a brute man! Look how long it is.
  11. When I here Lilly pads fist thing that comes to mind is a frog. If you are fishing from a boat also try to punch through the pads. If you don't know what that is look up punching through weeds. It's a very rewarding technique. Also, since you said it had clear water I would try some bluegill type baits. Or anything that matches the hatch. With those cypress trees I would try and flip jigs into them or some type of beaver or craw type bait. And on the edges of the Lilly pads try a popper or a slowly dragged t-rigged worm, bass should come straight out of there.
  12. Nice fish man!
  13. This!!!
  14. If only you did this a couple weeks earlier haha.
  15. Go catch that big one. I'm on the way to a private lake to see if I can get several pigs with a Huddleston. Good luck!
  16. Its actually not discouraging at all. It's the truth. And to the OP, just because they put a picture of you on there page doesn't mean they have a single thought of sponsoring you. I'm not saying this to be mean but it's doesn't make sense at all to sponsor someone who doesn't fish tournaments.
  17. I saw that when he posted it. I also fish it very slowly. I love feeling that that tail thump!
  18. Happy birthday Mike!
  19. For the 6" no, but the 8" yes you do need a powerful reel with gears made for big baits and a big rod. The 6" is a small bait in the swimbait department. I throw a 6" on a duckett heavy action and it performs well with it.
  20. That picture sure does make it look bigger then a 4lb. Ajay have you ever caught a Huddleston bass speed cranking? I've 1 and had a big one come off that way but I was burning it over weeds. As in speed cranking I mean reeling pretty fast, that's speed cranking a hudd for me.
  21. Nice bass man! What a greedy fish. I wouldn't be surprised if you catch it again on the Huddleston. It doesn't even look like you could shove a Huddleston in its mouth haha.
  22. I use an Okuma Guide Select Heavy 7'11" and a Lews Speed Spool. I would not recommend using a reel like I am because it strips the gears and just blows the reel out fishing 8" huddlestons and basically anything 2oz and up. A Shimano Cardiff 300 and the Okuma rod is the best set up for your first swimbait set up. I also prefer the 8" over the 6" because you get a bigger tail thump and a much bigger profile even though its 2" bigger then the 6".. I'm getting a 68 soon and I think I will like it more then the 8". All of my 6" weedless Hudlestons tore straight out the harnesses. I'm glad Ken pulled them off the shelfs because the hook up ratio was not the good at all. He is revdoing the though so hopefully I can get my hands on them when he does.
  23. Awesome Huddleston fish! I hope I can get one that big on my Huddleston(soon to be huddlestons). Love this thread man.
